Talaya Formentera

Two minutes to the beach....

We stayed in one of the self catering apartments - Talaya Bungalows - on the edge of the 8km long Midjorn beach. We hired one of these through a UK travel service called Astbury Formentera who specialise in a wide variety of accommodation all around the island.

The bungalow was well equipped with everything we needed, but best of all it was just a two minute walk along a boardwalk to Midjorn beach and a handful of restaurants on the beach.
We'd forgotten our driving licences so we couldn't hire scooters, so we did feel a little bit stranded there, although there was a twice daily bus service from the nearby hotel complex to a few other towns on the island.

A few downsides - there was no air conditioning and it was difficult to sleep in the heat, although there are ceiling fans. Also there were a lot of ants on the patio area outside the door and if you put towels out to dry, they seemed to find their way onto them.

But these were just minor quibbles with a great place to stay!

Unique Quality: Nice and quiet as there are only 5 bungalows and you get a semi private walkway to the sea.
