More about Aparthotel Ferrera Blanca
fantastic ferrera blanca
only booked 4 weeks before and was quite nervous but when we arrived we were blown away by the apartments. we stayed in bloc 14 1403 and 1404 our party was 2 adults and 3 children. both apartments were next to each other and looked on to the pools wat aview.
the staff were amazing especially the entertainment team and chicco kids were never bored even partner had fun he was named mr ferrera blanca for the week.
the beach was 2 minutes away and it was goregous so clean. i was really surprised about the resort and how family orientated it was and quite quiet.
i would recommend apartments and resort to anyone with kids we will definitly be bac next year .
NOT BAD AT ALL !!!!
Just got back from our first time in majorca and over all not a bad trip. The ferrera blanca apartments were both clean and in a good position for both cala ferrera 5 min walk, cala d'or 15 min walk. The staff were good with plenty going on for the kids. My only moan is how english cal D'or is, Brighton in the sun ! Fine if you like that sort of thing. As for the apartments they were well kept, clean and fresh, cleaned three times during the week also the towels and bedding were changed at the same time. There were three pools to choose from the main being busy and noisey, the other two were much quieter no getting up at silly o'clock to get a sun bed. The beach is 5 mins down steps away but was packed by 10 so get there early. Overall if your going with young kids this is the place for you.
Just returned from the Ferrera Blanca apartments after staying there for 2 weeks. No problems when we arrived.
Apartment was very basic but very clean. Staff very friendly and very helpful.
Some problems with ants and had 2 cockroaches in our apartment but apart from that it was fine!!
Had a problem with the electrics which involved the boiler getting changed and ended up flooding the apartment below, but it was sorted very quickly by the staff and we were offered a free meal and wine for the inconvenience!
Very close to the beach and 3 pools to choose from!! The quiet pool overlooking the beach was my favourite!!
Supermarkets and bars near by!! My favourite bar was called Cabena!! Kareoke, Dancing, the lot!! Great fun, must go!!!
Only a 10min walk will take you into Cala D'Or where there are loads of shops, restaurants and bars!!
Didn't see any of the hotel entertainment, but heard it was good.
Our favourite restaurant was the Aquamarina italian restaurant in the centre of Cala D'or, so cheap and excellent food!
I would recommend these apartments! It is only 2 key but I believe they deserve a higher rating! Clean, safe, peaceful and friendly!! Would certainly head back to this area again but would try a different hotel!
What a holidayyy!
right well i have just come home from a weeks holiday at the ferrera blanca apartments and ive got to say its one off the best places to stay. We booked are holiday last minute just over a week before we were due to go so wernt expecting enything special but when we arrived we was amazed at how clean the appartment was an how helpful the receptionist and entertainment staff were. Are appartment was right inbetween two pools the main pool and a smaller pool which was to the back of are appartment and was the veiw from are bottom floor balcony. Are appartment was equipted with all the utensils we needed for are stay and the beds were very really comfy. The entertainmet was absolutly brilliant and the entertainers were very freindly outgoing people as were the barstaff. The cala dor town centere was within a 10 to 15 min walk away there are plenty of restraunts there and also on the way you pass quite a few which are closer to the appartments would recomend the three dolphins which is an english owend restraunt and bar , serves very good food and the staff are lovley people. most of the other restraunts are good value for money but there are some which are a little to expensive so just watch you dont get over charged as we did more than once, but that was the only down side. The beach was absolutly beautiful worth spending a few daYs there soaking up some sun. we would definatly reccomed these appartments to people who are looking for a good friendly atmosphere and some sun, would defo go back again really enjoyed it!!!
I need another holiday
Me and my partner have just returned from a week at the Ferrera Blanca, and to be honest are very glad we are home
The complex itself is very clean and the apartments have everything you could ask for like, microwave, air con (free), kettle, toaster, cleaning facilities, plates, pots, pans, tv, and even a portable heater (not that we needed it)
on the 2nd day of our holiday we returned back to the apartment around 15:30pm to find my partners mobile phone has vanished off the bed side table, the beds had been made and we had fresh towels which showed that the cleaners had visited us that morning/early afternoon. We reported this to reception immediately who thought it may have been scooped up with the laundary (fair enough) we asked them to check the laundary and get back to us. After waiting for nearly 3 hours we returned back to reception and they said the laundary had already gone to the centre of the island to be washed etc (they had forgotten - basically)
the next day we reported it to the Mytravel rep who came to reception with us, they advised us that nothing was to found at the laundary - so we said it must of been taken (which they didn't like) told us the cleaners had worked her for many years and wouldn't risk losing their jobs - I'm sorry but Samsungs don't have legs!! The manager even called the mobile and told us it was engaged! (which shows it was being used)
We then had to walk to the police station to report it - they wouldn't speak to us without a translator (very frustrating)
Reception didn't go out of their way to apologise or compensate us in anyway they even asked for 2.50 euro for a map so we could find the police station!!
we asked for no more cleaners in our room for the remainder of the holiday - we had cleaners!!
Entertainment - is great if you have kids, or were out in the night clubs all night! music and shouting on microphones started at 10:30am and continued until 12:00am! no siesta's for us!!! we found it very hard to relax throughout the whole week!
Cala Ferrera/Cala Dor - absolutely amazing!! a really lovely resort, lots to do! loads of nice restuarants and bars we recommend 'Tapas Yamas' and 'Duke of Devonshire' (and english place which is cheap than other places but the grub was amazing) Beaches were gorgeous, sea was nice and clear, on Cala Farrera beach it was 12 euro's for 2 beds and a brolly - a little steep but worth it!
You must visit the Marina not far from the centre, its a lovely atmosphere and the fresh fish is amazing!
we would definately visit Cala Dor agian but we would definately stay at another accomodation
We were not disappointed
Having read some reviews on this website we were not sure what to expect, however upon arrival we were not dissapointed with these apartments, they were spacious clean and tidy and very comfortable. The pool areas were extremely clean and as the apartment had three pool areas you could join in with daytime entertainment or relax a the 'chill out' pool. The maid services were good, clean towels everyday and fresh sheets were brought once during the week. The grounds surrounding the apartments are well maintained and pretty. Fererra Blanca itself is nice and along the main strip there are a number of bars and restaurants. We tried Andy's bar and Mescal and they were ok, the Tapas y Mas restaurant however was really nice and we went there twice during the week. Also I would recommend a trip to the harbour for a nice meal, there are numerous reastaurants to choose from. The walk to Cala d'or is 10/15 minutes, you really do not need transport. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would go back.
what a surprise
what a wonderful surprise,my first 'beach' holiday,i have either been Cruising or Florida, and paid triple the price, arrived at 5oclock,in apartment by 5 past, great apartment for two people,if a party of 3 or more would mean people sleeping in the lounge, something to bear in mind when booking.
apartment in great location, with spacious balcony overlooking the pool, which closes at 8-30 this means you havent got the noise which goes with a pool all night, small prob with shower, fixed by staff within one hour .entertainment very good, just go with the flow, plenty of supermarkets one on site, can't truly believe this place is only 2 star, really fantastic value, staff first class, they even rang there local post office to check that we attached right postage for postcard to USA ,complaints none.and im a moaner, suggestions, apartments spread out some might be near entertainment area,so check for quieter areas, day trips to island attractions, good trips but apartments are first on pick up and last on return by coach, must do's,Starfish boat trips from most beach's,one you can swim in the crystal clear water out at sea, visit the Marina, had best meal ever,60 euro's for two, checkout all the beaches find the one that suits you best, great area, great apartments, would thourghly recommend this great vacation
Dobbin from Dorset
We have just returned from our trip 3 adults and a 7 year old child. Was delayed at the airport by an hour so didn't get to the apartments till about 5.45pm.
Check in was pain less was checked in within 5 minutes. Had a pool view room but the only downside was that it was right above the entertainment stage (room 12 303) so if you want a quiet night then ask for a sea view room as entertainment goes on every night until 12.00am.
The apartments were basic but very clean and sufficient for the four of us. Had a kettle, toaster, electric cooker, pans and utensils. Air conditioning good and is free but you have to pay 20 euros for the safe key which 6 euros is a deposit which you will get back upon departure.
Very clean and rooms are cleaned 3 times a week and bedding changed at least twice a week. Sofa beds very comfortable had the best nights sleep ever on them.
Staff very friendly and the entertainment team is brilliant. Great entertainment for the kids and you get to play Bingo every night for 5 euros ( yipee bingo again!!!)
Would recommend the barbeque night, which was 10 euros per person but great value for money. You get salad, different varieties of bread, chicken kebab, pork loin, beefburger, sausage and a jacket potato. Followed by a spanish desert. Children eat for half price.
Good facilities on site, 3 pools but the main pool near the bar can get abit crowded. Kids seem to enjoy themselves. The only thing i could fault was the sun loungers were not very comfortable but if you get an air bed and lie on it its suffcient.
Beach only 5 mins walk but very crowded so get there early to get a good spot by the water especially if you have kids you need to watch.
Centre of Cala D'or only 10 to 15 mins walk and has lots of restaurants and shops for shopaholics. Things can be a little cheaper then here but not much cheaper.
I would recommend changing your money here as you don't get as good a rate in Majorca. Exchange rate was 1.39 for cash or if you had travellers cheques you would get a rate of 1.41 which was not bad so if you want to change money out there you are better taking travellers cheques with you.
Overall very surprised at the resort and would definetly recommend this to anyone and would say the hotel is more a 3 star then a 2 star. Would go back again to the same place.
The W family (Sunny Scunny not at the moment!!!)
pontins in the sun
Visited this hotel earlier this week with my partner and 12 year old daughter. Both myself and my daughter have never been abroad before so my partner was anxious to book a holiday for us that would be really enjoyable. He booked as an allocated on arrival for a three star hotel. This hotel is a two star so that was not a good start although we did not realise this until we came home and looked up the hotel on the net. The apartment was ok, but the beds were exceptionally uncomfortable and their version of a double bed was 2 singles pushed together which meant i was continuously falling down the middle of the beds and all the bedsheets had a bleachy smell to them. My daughter slept on the sofa bed in the living area and this was also very uncomfortable. The microwave had to be placed on the floor so that it could be plugged in as the lead was miles to short to reach the plug socket otherwise. The chambermaid was rather rude as she came to clean the room and seemed most put out that we were in the room at all and stood by the door waiting for us to leave, when we didnt she just walked in looking put out. Our bedding and towels were changed twice during a week long stay. Our apartment was situated directly over the main pool area with a lovely big balcony which saw the sun loads, so no problems there. My advice would be not to buy food in the hotel shop if you can help it as you pay over the odds for things. The sun newspaper for example cost over £1.50 with their handling fee which is funny as the paper is actually printed in Majorca!!! The entertainment was absolutely appalling. The kids loved it but for any self respecting adult you would think you had died and gone to Pontins for the week. You can play bingo for an hour or so and the mini disco for the kids is a joke as their idea of music is head shoulders knees and toes and other outdated music. To be fair the most up to date music we heard all week was about 5 years old. the place appears to be in a time warp. They had a crappy Elvis impersonater and on our last night we were treated to a man and his two assistants singing Tom Jones songs badly and a rendition of Holly Valance Kiss Kiss in an egyptian costume and sung in spanish. Truly horrifiyig, the bar staff and entertainment staff were really cool tbough and were always pleasant and friendly to us all. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the reception staff. On our departure day we handed in our safe key and the receptionist said we could put our suitcases in the luggage room fifteen feet away from the actual reception desk. My partner handed over the key and his 6 euro refundable deposit was placed on the reception desk. He turned his back for approximately 20 seconds and then asked where the money was. He asked the receptionist and she didnt apparently know. she was most unhelpful and to be fair we know that she knew where it was but we cannot prove anthing and we couldnt go to our rep as it was his day off. so a crap finish to our holiday as well. Regarding food, we did not eat at the hotel but ate out, but found a lot of the spanish eateries a rip off . we went to a restaurant by the tropical garden towards the centre of Cala D'Or where the man lured us in with some free garlic bread. My daughter ordered spaghetti bolognase and I have never seen anything like it in my life. she was given a small plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce over the top with no meat. my lasagne was small and my partners meal was taken around the restaurant for five minutes before they realised it was actually his. Totally appalling. The next night we went to the Jungle which from the outside looked lovely with loads of character. We paid over £50 for 2 adult and 1 kids meal. My daughter ordered a mini pizza and literally that is all she got with no chips or anything, we had a bowl of chips between us for both our meals which were beef fillet steaks which we asked for cooked rare and came out looking well done so we had to share the one bowl of chips between three of us. My daughter ordered an ice cream which came with her kids meal and it was literally 2 teaspoon scoops of ice cream in a bowl, Both restaurants were a complete rip off and both times we went back to our apartment and had to cook loads of toast as we were all still hungry which is ridiculous when you think how much we were paying for these meals. The upside is eventually we found a cool restaurant called the Duke of Devonshire which was great. Normal size meals at a good reasonable price with friendly and helpful staff in a nice setting. This is a highly reccomended establishment. The upside to this holiday is that my daughter loved every minute of it but for the adults it was crap and the hotel was absolutely miles away from anywhere decent. If you want to socialise after 12 you have no chance whatsover unless you go to the one nightclub the Hacienda which is a family nightclub and has some dodgy live music. If you are looking to sit by a pool all day listening to the same repetitive 80's cds playing and a load of corny games and competitions and evening entertainment from the 70's then this is for you but if you want up to date music, variety and something other than sitting by the pool, wanting to sightsee without it costing you a fortune to get everywhere then i would suggest you dont bother to come here as this place is really sleepy. the weather was really hot though which was a bonus. There are loads of shops and restaurants in Cala dor though but I would loved to have been able to sample more of the spanish culture but everything cost a fortune to get too as we were right over the other side of the island. another tip would be not to do an allocated on arrival holiday as this is the result. Not happy that we booked a three star hotel and got plonked in a crappy two star hotel,.
Make the most of your holiday
This was a last minute break allocation on arrival. The apartment was on the main pool area where the entertainment started to be honest we had no children with us so headed of to the other pool where it was nice and quiet mostly adults and a few kids. We didn't eat in the complex except for an odd lunch time and the bbq on the Thursday this was excellant value for money and we headed off afterwards as the kids entertainment followed on. We had very reasonable meals though we went for the tourist menus and remember you have to ask for them. We found a venue where we saw Tina Turner, The Blues Brothers, Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond none of them a patch on the real thing but hey it's Majorca and it's cheap entertainment. The little train trundles round the resort. Nothing much to see culturely but it was ok for an overcast morning.
The only drawback is the time the tour operators actually take to get you to the resort. If you go there buy a bottle of water because after going to every other drop off point we were hot and very grumpy.

Sunset over Palma Airport
How much is a taxi from Palma Airport to puerto de soller?
Please could someone tell me how much is a taxi from Palma Airport to puerto de soller?
Also is it safe? I am a female traveling alone.
Re: How much is a taxi from Palma Airport to puerto de soller?
it's about 35 Km, so maybe 40 €?
Yes it is safe. I took taxis many times in many places around Spain and many other European cities (I've to travel quite a lot for business) and never had safety concerns.
