More about Club Caleta Dorada
The best holiday ever!!
Have been going to these apartments for years now (before it went all inclusive) and loved it that much i will not go anywhere else !!
I took my little girl last year for the first time and she loved it, the reps - you cant fault theres so much to do in the evenings !
I off there again in april cant wait !!
just come back gerat if you have little kids who run round all time lol, but do not go with older kids thers nothing for them todo. we stayed allinclusive i was a bit dissapointed with food they have no kitcen so its all pre packed but they cook fish eggs and some meat fresh, i had bad stomac and so did a few other people maybe i ate too much salad as i did not like the food, appartments are ok, kids club fantastic, queing at bar a laugh as only one member off staff, pool area cleaned every day but i did not see pool ever get cleaned hope you enjoy i will not be going back, it says 2 star and that all you get im off 3 star next time
miss sold by first choice
we booked 8weeks ago to go to the amarilla apartments fuerteventura
but have been informed by first choice that the children playground that they promoted in there brochure does not exist, i booked this holiday on the understanding that there would be plenty to do away from the pool.for my two seven year old chidren.
the travel agent has offered to change the hotel which would have this facility but at a high cost or i could change my resort but this could mean flying a different day or different airport i believe this to breach of contract when asked to compensated for the inconvienance and loss i was told by the travel agent this could not be done.any comments
Value for money.
Before I went i read the comments about this hotel on websites like this and was a little worried. When I arrived I walked into a lovely apartment/bungalow that was spotless, with a back patio and front garden, living area with kitchen, nice bedroom and bathroom. I was surprized as usually on all inclusive holidays you just get a room. here we had a kitchen with fridge which was a bonus! we were on the a side and unfortunatley the pool was being maintained when we were there but there was another pool on the b side so it wasnt a problem. the reps were great, especially with the kids. and the eve entertainment was good. the food was good. not amazing, but hey we only paid for 3 star. Theres too many people who are slagging this place off. you have to remember its not 5 star. you get what you pay for!! for £300 for a week it isnt bad at all. The location isnt too cracking as its quite far away from the beach, but its still only a 10 minute stroll. If you have booked to go here, dont worry, the place is extremly clean. large choice of food and drinks available all the time (try the cocktails in the bar! the measures are unbelievable!) enjoy! overall nice place to stay and resort, weather fab, only complaint aircraft noise.
Playground at the Caleta Amarilla
Just to let you know that we have been advised that there is a new playground being built work starts on June 1st and I have been assured by first choice that this will be ready when I go (15th June)!!!! Whether it is or not is another matter. Hope this helps depending on when you go.
holiday from hell!!!
This was a holiday from hell. me and my family went to this complex in a large group of 15 people and we couldnt believe our eyes. were do i start.
my apartment was falling apart the toilet wouldnt flush repeatedly had to be fixed, the light switch in bedroom was hanging off the wall exposing wires, the back door and bed were broken. it was also filthy as was the other apartments ( we had 4 altogether) some worse than others.
The pool at side b was disgusting ,rubbish floating in it and it had a film of scum over the top of it, the rep informed us the filter wasnt working and said that would just be suncream. it was well in to our second week before anything got done about that pool eventually it was sealed off.
we were all inclusive and that was a waste of money, the food was disgusting same every night and reheats for lunch the next day. the staff were also rude and couldnt even speak basic english. only one girl at the pool side bar at side a was very nice and helpful. the washers and drier didnt work and the place was over run with cats even in the resturant jumping over the tables. none of the manholes were covered so there was always a very bad smell which would turn your stomach.
the entertainment was terrible and we had to pay for the kids clubs, disgrace considering we were all inclusive they had fun on the bouncy castle although there was only so much fun you can have on that. there was no air conditioning so sitting in the resturant or entertainment bar was very uncomfortable. the whole complex was run down there was no holiday atmosphere and also no security so we had a few nights where we had to listen to rowdy drunk people.
what i would also like people to be aware of is we asked when booking the holiday (which was a year in advance )for a late check out room and were told in the travel agents to do that over there when we arrived but when we got there, there was a sign at reception saying if you hadnt done that in the uk then you couldnt have a late check out. now i asked the travel agent about that when we went to complain about the holiday and she said when the rooms that they have got for late check outs are gone they are told to tell anyone who wants one to ask when they get there. now to me that is just not acceptable. we had 4 kids and a baby and were expected to be out for 10.00 am and our bus wasnt coming till 4.30pm.
i did take photos of all the things that were wrong with the place but they are currently on there way to first choice's head office along with a very angry letter of complaint.
Butlins in the sun
We stayed for a week all inclusive and for six of us (3 adults and 3 children) it cost about £340 each - which is cheap for end of August.
The late check out thing would have been good seeing as how our bus was not until 18:45. But you MUST book before you travel. We did get a room to shower/change in for an hour which we booked on the 2nd to last day.
The rooms are very clean and the kitchen stuff is a bonus really, but the temp outside was in the mid 30c 's so with just one fan to keep cool, the apts get very muggy/stuffy and it is not easy at night to sleep.
Also, as stated in other reviews here, this is smack bang in the middle of a flight path and you can expect very low aircraft from around 7:30am every day.
The food is okay. Because you have your "all-inclusive" tags on your arm, the true value of the catering is probably lessened somewhat. If you had to pay for each meal as you go, you would probably be quite happy with the food served - in general.
The breakfast though was not as good. Undercooked sausages, bacon and dodgy looking scrambled eggs, for those who like a cooked brekky! The array of croissants and pastries looked and tasted less than fresh.
We did two day trips. Waterworld is very good. Loads of things there for the kids, but you do have to pay hire fees for the sun loungers and for the inflatable rings, which you need for some of the stuff there.
The Oasis park is a must! So much improved since we last came here in 2002. There is a sealion show, a reptile show, birds of prey and a parrot show. Obviously a camel ride and, for a few extra euros, a buffet dinner.
Overall it was a pleasant enough holiday. I would say that if you really like butlins type holidays, with the kids, and can stand the immense heat (cooler thanks to the breeze at night) then you will love this place.
Not for me though - sorry!
I have just come back from a weeks stay at the Amarilla with my boyfriend.
We had a lovely time, the apartments were lovely - they were lovely and clean when we arrived and we received visits from the maids 3 or 4 times a week which i thought was very good.
I would like to say though the hotel is more for familys but we still managed to have a nice time.
When we arrived we looked at the pool and thought ' oh my god ' it is so small but we had plently of room to swim.I would say we were staying on side A and the pool is very deep for children, i could just about reach the bottom of the pool in the shallow end and i am 5'2.
We went south catering but you can not use euros there for food and drink, you have to buy tickets from reception for 1 euro 20 for 1 ticket, this is 1 ticket for 1 drink, breakfast was 4 tickets each person, dinner and tea was 8 tickets each, we found this a little expensive so we were going to the pool bar in the day to have burger/pizza and chips for 2 tickets.MOst evening we were eating out and we foudn this very cheap to have a 3 course meal.
The entertainment is for kids so dont expect much for adults.
Overall we will be going back to this hotel as me and my parnter are expecting our first child together next March.
A good holiday here
We went for 2 weeks AI and had a really good time.
Bungalow clean and maid in daily. There were wonky light switches and lamps, however they didn't seem unsafe to use. Ants were a problem for many people we spoke to (including us) but swift service was given by the staff to sort any invasions. Only 1 fan for the apt was a downer, but knew no aircon on booking. Did take some effort to sleep at night - esp as the temp was low 40s in the first week! Spacious apts though, as they also have s/c guests. Shop on site expensive, but ideal for people like us arriving during the evening and needing a few bits.
We were on B side where the entertainment bar and 2 pools are. FC reps were helpful, friendly and chatty, as were the complex Reception staff (they happily book taxis for you for free). TV hire I thought expensive at 24E per week, plus deposit, particularly as there were frequent signal problems.
Restaurant was pretty good for 3 Star - fair choice, fresh - though they did take your plate even if the rest of your table hadn't finished eating! And they could do with staff who understand English in the snack bar, or maybe we should have made the effort to learn 'anything with chips' in Spanish lol.
We knew about aircraft noise on booking, though it didn't disrupt the holiday - earliest 7.30am, latest 10.30pm. Some days busier than others. We pre-booked late checkout - 5pm for us, but 6pm for 2 other families on the same 2 weeks hols and flight. Never did work that one out lol!
Recommend using the mini train (stop within 5 mins walk of complex) to get to harbour/beach, centre for shops/restaurants and market. Taxi's are cheap, but the Atlantico centre shops aren't (apart from the supermarket perhaps). Oasis Park and Baku Water Park worth visiting (though there are hidden costs at Baku like sunbed hire, lockers, etc), as is Oceanarium at the harbour - especially as half price whilst we were there!
This was a good holiday for me with a 4 year old son - kids pool and adult pool on B side not over packed and safe. Though alot of us were ready to come home earlier than the departure date, none of us could put our finger on really why! Met some lovely people and came home refreshed.
Loved it. Food not so good.
We stayed here for 2 weeks and was a little apprehensive reading other reviews. Once there our apartment was basic but really clean, we was in A side the pool was cleaned daily and couldn't fault anything this side. The kids had a great time in kids club and cried when we had to leave!!The entertainment is no west end shows but hey its a holiday make the most of it join in and have fun. The food was bland and was very repetitive, but eating out is widely available, i'd recomend the Irish Bar in town the breakfast was AMAZING!! Definately go to the Oasis Park its a great fun day out and not too expensive the kids loved it and you can get great souveniers that will last a lifetime. We also went on the catamaran catlanza, this was ok but well overrated and I dont think worth the money at all. If you head down to the beach go to the one behind the Atlantico shopping centre its much nicer and the toy shop sells great fishing rods for 20euros . Overall Feuterventura was a fantastic holiday and I would go there again.
