More about Club Martha's Aparthotel
We booked a last minute deal to stay at Club Marthas in June. First impressions were excellent - the reception area has obviously been refurbished and is of a very high standard. The apartments were airy, clean and spacious although you do have to hire kettles and toasters and the safe key which came to about 40 euros which i thought was a little excessive for a week. The complex was very big with three large simming pools and a indoor pool. The entertainment team were excellent and the shows in the evening were very entertaining. We ate out every night and there were plenty of restaurants too choose from - our children particularly liked Tonys Bar and the Madrid. Cala Dor is a taxi drive away (5 euros) and is a much larger resort with more restaurants and entertainment - personally next time we would stay in Cala Dor itself - one week was ok in Cala Egos but two weeks we would have found it a bit monotonous as it is a lot smaller but overall Club Marthas is an excellent complex we would highly recommend it for those with families.
A great place to relax by the pool!
I stayed at club marthas with my partner. we booked online for the es bolero apartments, which is an apartment block within club marthas. when we arrived we were allocated a room in another block, this was great as the room was lovely and clean. Very modern bathroom. two single 'sofa'beds, which sound bad, but made a massive double bed when pushed together! outside you get a small plot of grass with hedges for privacy from next door. each plot gets two chairs a table and a sun lounger, which was very useful for the late afternoon sun!
The pool areas are great, as we went in sept it was not too busy so getting sunbeds was not a problem. everywhere on the complex was clean and well maintained.
oh and if you eat out at night dont just stay in the restaurants around the hotel, make sure you walk down to the marina. It is beautiful and there are lots of lovely restaurants down there. Its about a 10-15min walk.
Overall, a great place to stay if you want a relaxing week in the sun.
So freindly and helpful
Just got back from 2 week stay at Club Marthas. Had to inform people of the excepional accomodation there. We stayed in a one bed appartment. The room was imaculately clean and very spacious, we had a large balcony which faced the sun all day. as did all the others. However we were not in the room much, as there was so much to do. The reception is impressive and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The pool area was lovely but tended to get a bit crowded. They had entertainment on every 6 nights which was unexpected and although some were outside acts that were brought in, other nights were shows performed by the childrens entertainers. (Do not expect west end performaces, but most were entertaining and funny.)
We only used the snack bar and the pizza place a few times but we had no cause to complain about the food. We did not use the buffet and therefore cannot comment (but judging by our other experience with club marthas I cannot imaging it not being of the same high standard)
Cala Egos has lots of excellent restaurants and a near by beach which was busy but not too overcrowded. Also just a 10 min walk from cala Egos is the harbour at Cala Llonga, which is spectacular in the evening, and has lots of fine restaurants. Can recommend Blanco Negro on one side and the Anchor on the other. If you are looking for an english Chuchills was nice and the apple pie was lovely. The owners were very nice and they were very good with children.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and intend to return in the near future and would not hesitate to recommend Club Marthas to all we meet.
we have just returned from a weeks holiday at Club Marthas in Cala Egos, Majorca. The hotel is very clean, friendly and well-maintained. We went as a couple with our two sons, aged 8 and 5, and they absolutely loved it. The entertainment for the children is very good, with all staff enthusiastic and great with the kids.
They really seemed to care that the children felt comfortable and that they enjoyed their stay. The children's clubs were great ,with games and entertainment and a children's disco in the evening.
They loved learning the songs. Myself and my husband have previously been keen to see the local area when on holiday but the hotel feels so relaxed and has such a good atmosphere we were quite happy to remain around the complex and relax.
The food is really very nice in the buffet restaurant, we went half board and were very glad we did, with a perfectly adequate menu each morning and evening with plenty of choice.
There are plenty of bars in the resort which we visited and they all welcomed children.
The beaches were lovely, and we sat and ate fresh pineapple bought from the spanish man who came round selling fruit on the beach. The sea was clean and very blue, and there is a nice beach bar selling snacks and drinks.
For a relaxing holiday, good value for money, with a range of different activities and very friendly service, we would highly recommend Club Marthas, especially to those with young children.
Loved it - much better than expected!!
My fiance and I stayed at Club Marthas for a week in early september 2006 and really loved it. We were a bit concerned that it would be too family orientated and we were also concerned because of some of the reviews - but we really needn't have worried.
On arrival the staff were very friendly and they were helpful throughout the holiday. They were very helpful in translating certain things for us and would always call a taxi for you.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was lovely. The balcony was so large that we sunbathed on there instead of by the pool - we would just pop down to the pool to cool off. The balcony had two sun loungers on it and a table and chairs and was still spacious. The bathroom was also really great - very spacious and had a great shower - better than all the other foreign showers I have used!
The beds were comfy and the rooms were very clean. We also had a good selection of tv channels - though you have to put a 5 euro deposit down to get the tv control. Safety deposit box was in the room and reasonably priced to use. Left key for safety deposit box and room card at reception when we went out.
We really liked the whole hotel and had a great atmosphere. Lots of choice with the pools and they were never too crowded - wlthouh sun loungers around the pools all got taken by about 10.30am. Didn't eat at the hotel - but resturants seemed nice.
Cala Egos is a really nice resort and Cala D'or is only a 5euro taxi ride away and you can also walk there in about 20-30 mins. On the way to cala D'or there is a really pretty marina with the nicest boats and resturants. Shopping in Cala D'or and Cal Egos are both good - but Cala D'or is bigger.
Both of the beaches near the hotel are lovely and there are plenty of loungers available and the water is lovely and clear - and we saw quite a few fish there as well.
Only bad thing was the noise of entertainment sometimes at the hotel but this finished at about 11.00pm and wasn't that bad anyway once you were actually in your apartment.
Overall we loved this hotel and would definitley return.
4* - No way!
There's no way this Aparthotel is a 4 star as promised in the Thomas Cook brochure! We were initially booked into a studio on the ground floor with a garden in full view of others. The studio was the size of a cupboard and smelled of damp.
We decided to pay at reception to upgrade to a one bedroom (better option than through a travel agent as you dont need to pay under-occupancy) and this room was of a decent size.
Our new room was fine with a nice modern bathroom, but the rest of the room looked like it could do with an upgrade (especially the 1970's style pea green kitchen!). We looked out to a residential area so was quite quiet. What I would say is that the hotel itself is geared for families (particularly German ones) so if you come into this category you'll no doubt enjoy it. As a young couple, we would have prefered something quieter and less crowded.
We dined in the restaurant for two nights, but the standard of food was not great. As a Thomas Cook customer, Martha's traded in our unused evening meal for 'Martha's vouchers' which we were able to use on food and drink from the bars and cafes - this was good.
On the positive side, head to the Marina where there are lovely restaurants (Blanco y Negro being one) and there is a nice atmosphere.
In summary, if you are a couple looking for really nice apartment and a quiet break by the pool this is not the place for you.
Single mum and two teenage daughters in luck!
Yes the studio apartment was quite basic and small. but the complex itself made for a fantastic holiday. The three pools were varied from one packed with children to a quiet one hidden away which was always empty and there were even enough sunbeds to go around so no early morning scarmble. Clean and colourful, it was very relaxing and safe enough for my teenage daughter to have freedom with her new friends. The entertainment team were great and with the bus stop just outside we were able to get a bus to Palma for shopping, and also send the kids to the acquapark for the day. The only downside was that the beach next to the hotel was very small and cramped, but you could catch the bus boat there further up the coast to larger beaches, traditional fishing villages or the nature reserve. All in all a very relaxing holiday and I would definitely go there again.
We go on holdiay every year about this time of year as we find the climate perfect and there are generally not too many kids about.
This is our second time to this resort and love the fact that there are not people touting you in to restaurants. Everybody is friendly and staff always go out of there way to make you feel at home.
My wife and I went self catering and really enjoyed the in formality of eating when you wanted. The food in the hotel itself hit the spot day time when we werer lying around the pool, which i can imagine can get quite busy in the school holidays.
In the evening time we would walk around Cala Egos and into Cala Dor also sometimes. There is so much choice of places to eat that it is hard to decide. We tryed Spainsh, Dutch and Chinese but when you want home from home food done really well try the Irish Bistro - the best Sunday roast i have ever tasted - but you had better book as we found out the first time.
The only downside of the holiday for us was the jellyfish on the beach but its hardly anyone fault is it
Great! Clean, friendly and chilled holiday!
Ok. We actually booked into an Iberostar but had our booking changed at the last minute! (Wont go into that!) A bit dubious about being transfered due to the time it took to choose our original hotel but it worked out great! We arrived to a well kept building and a friendly multi-ingual receptionist and were checked in extremely quickly. We had an appartment that openned out onto a veranda with a small pool just beyond. The appartment was clean and funtional. DON'T BUY ANYTHING TO PUT IN THE OVEN THOUGH-THERE ISN'T ONE!!! There ars 2 hobs, sink, and crockery/cuttlery. Cheekily** you have to hire a kettle but I just boiled water the old fashioned way! The rooms were dark with shutters closed but nice and light once openned. Aircon in lounge and bedroom and an amazing shower!!
The location is great. The resort of Cala Egos has all the facilities you need. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND A RESTAURANT CALLED LX27 ON THE PEDESTRIANISED AREA-GREAT PIZZAS AND VALUE AND FRIENDLY STAFF! Supurmarket within walking distance and a cafe on the corner that will meet any british tourists fry-up needs! A variety of british papers/books available on the high street too.
Hire a car to site-see. Gorgeous beaches all up that coast althought the beach at Egos is a little small. Cala D'or is well worth a shopping trip for nice clothes without V.A.T added on-my wife was happy!
Would I go there again? ALREADY PLANNING IT!
** You need to hire a few things from reception. Kettle, Safe, TV remote but all fairly reasonable. TV only has Sky News, BBC World and MTV Germany with some UK programmes-YOUR NOT THERE TO WATCH TV THOUGH!!!!
Stayed at Marthas with our 2 children 2 and 9 - could not fault the complex at all. Lovely and clean, really friendly, staff were all friendly and all needs were catered for. Cala Egos is a lovely quiet and child friendly resort with a lovely walk to the marina through the woods after Es Fortit beach. Marthas is the best place we've stayed in Mallorca and we will definately return.
