Baby food in Majorca

by Ricky852

Hello,
We are taking our 6 month son on holiday to Mallorca and was wondering if anyone knows if Cow and Gate,Hipp,SMA milks and Pampers nappies are available out there?
I am a little worried about our lugaggage allowance if not.
Thanks

Ricky,
Sorry I can't answer your question specifically but I'm sure I've seen Pampers or their equivalent in supermarkets in Mallorca. Also you don't say what resort you are going to? There is a British Supermarket in Puerto Pollensa that probably sells the products you are looking for if you are going to that area but I couldn't say what you will find elsewhere. Nevertheless, thousands of people travel to Mallorca every year and they seem to manage ok so I'd expect that you will find those products or the Spanish version of them in supermarkets or pharmacies.

The nappies don't really matter.....your baby will be perfectly happy in whatever brand equivalent you find in Majorca. You may not like them as much, but that isn't a major problem.

But the milk does matter (not a good idea to upset stomachs) so you might want to make sure you pack enough.

You may not be able to find C&G everywhere, but there will be plenty of tinned and bottled babyfood available......all will be perfectly ok for your baby. No different to you trying a new flavour of his usual foods.

As noted, thousands of babies visit every year with no problems.......so no need to worry! :-)

Travel Tips for Majorca Island

Baños Arabes in Palma

by IceBear7

I guess it is not that special really, but I lived the Arabian Baths in Palma. Already the street where you walk to get to the Baths is quiet and not crowded at all.

Inside you have a lovely garden with chairs and benches, and two buildings where the Arabian baths used to be. Just a few explanations, not much to see really. But perfect for sitting in the garden, and use your imagination!!

Alcudia overview 2

by chancay

Alcudia is one of the biggest and most popular resorts on the island, You find almost everything from the resort’s long, sandy beach, a lot of good music clubs and a wide choice of shops. BEside there are the ruins of the island’s capital in Roman times, very interesting as well.

San Telmo.

by Maurizioago

San Telmo is a resort where you can spend a very quiet holiday. It is situated in the south-east of Mallorca and it is not far from Andratx.

In this village there are some hotels; some restaurants and shops.

From San Telmo you can go to the Dragonera island.

Ensaimada

by Mique

Typical mallorquin pastry. It can be one big Ensaimada or small ones. And they can be stuffed with all sorts of fillings. Just try them out. I love them and even asked friends and collegues to bring me one whenever i found someone going to Mallorca. And i can remember me flying back with 3 boxes of Ensaimadas stacked as hand luggage and getting very strange looks from fellow passengers since i was the only one to bring them along.

Found this recipe on the web in case you want to try baking one.

Ingredients:

• 6 egg yolks
• 3/4 cup white sugar
• 1 pkg dry yeast
• 1 cup milk
• 1 cup water
• 1/2 lb. butter
• 4-5 cups all purpose flour

Directions: In a mixing bowl, place the dry yeast, sugar, 1 cup flour and lukewarm milk and water. Set aside until the mixture starts to rise about 45 minutes.Separate the egg whites, beat the egg yolks into the mixture, blending very well. Add the flour little by little. If using a mixer, mixture should leave the sides of the bowl. Add the melted butter and set aside until it has doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

Dust the board where the dough will be rolled out with a little flour to prevent dough from sticking. Divide dough into equal portions (12). Roll out each portion, brush with butter and roll into a long strip. Form into a coil, insert the inner end making sure it's tucked in, same with the other end of the roll. Butter top. Let rolls rise until they have doubled in size, bake at 375 degrees f.about 12-15 minutes. Brush with butter, sprinkle with sugar, and individually wrap each roll in waxed paper.

Preparation Time: 1 1/2 hour
Cooking Time: 15 minutes.

For those who can´t live without Bundesliga!

by Bigs

We found this funny football pub in Cala Ratjada, a popular German seaside resort. So if you can´t live without the Bundesliga games this place looks really inviting I think, even if it´s in German :)

Look how brilliant our team of Hannover 96 started this new season...they won 3:0 against Hamburg!!!!! Unbelievable!!! Some €uro tho buy you a pint of beer probably....
