Evening cinema in the park
by gretapet
Its beauty! Well, this is one of my fondest memories...One evening, my husband and I were strolling along across the river from the La Seu Cathedral. There were people gathering and there was a large screen set up in front of the cathedral. We found a table at the cafe, ordered a few beers and waited to see what would happened. Apparently, Palma holds free movies in the park all summer long. That night we were lucky to see Marilyn Monroe's classic, Some Like It Hot. What a great movie to see on a warm summer evening.
Not all of the movies are in English, so you should look at the schedule which can be found on Palma's Tourist Info website. Search under "Audiovisual" under activities.

The movies are shown in Parc de la Mar.
Local Liquor 2
by nigelw6443
When I travel I love to try the local specialties whether it be food or drink. In Majorca there is a large industry for liquors and often there are tours to the factories along with sampling of the products.
There is a company called Tunel and one of their specialities is a drink called Palo, which is native to Majorca and is digestive made from cinchona bark, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Palo looks like old motor oil but it tastes superb! Having a shot of Palo with a bartender and seeing his face cringe up!
North West Coast
by hundertmorgen
The magnificent, rugged north west coast alludes to some of the most charming and scenic towns - Deya and Valldemossa. Surrounded by exuberant greenery and scoured rocks, these entrancing locations offer some of the most enchanting sea views, dotted with exclusive properties teetering on hillsides. Spectacular sunsets soothe tortured mountain roads, discouraging tourist traffic and create wondrous peaceful hideaways, firm favourites with the rich and famous.
Mallorca 95.8 - Das Inselradio
by Kristina1701
to all the German-speaking people: if you like listening to the radio, there's a German radio station in Palma called: Mallorca 95.8 - Das Inselradio. Besides the latest songs from the charts they do also play Spanish music and give tips for tourists (for instance about what is going on on the island, which places to visit,...., and a lot more). It's really cool and you can learn a lot about the culture!!! For those who've become curious now I've got some good news: It's even possible to listen to Mallorca 95.8 over the internet --> http://www.inselradio.com So check it out!
Day 1 - The Cuber Reservoir to Soller
by into-thin-air
As we were a bit short of time we decided to catch a taxi to the Cuber Reservoir as soon as we could after arriving in Soller and then walk the Cuber Reservoir to Soller section of our walk. Originally we were going to attempt to walk from Soller all the way to Lluc Monastery in one day but decided against this as it would have involved around 10 + hours of walking with no possibilities of a lunch stop and only a few possibilities of replenishing our water. Also my Guide-Book had described this section of the walk in the Cuber Reservoir to Soller direction.
The taxi cost us 24 euro and dropped us at the Cuber Reservoir, from here there is a good dirt road that takes you to the dam, then you cross the dam and gently walk uphill and cross The Coll de L’Ofre before dropping into the ravine of Briniaraix, then following this ravine until it ends just above Soller.
The book describes this walk as one of the Best that Majorca has to offer and I agree, Even if you only have a day available I would Strongly recommend you walking this route !!
