No hassle from anyone!
by KeenTraveller08
We just returned from Mallorca and hadn''t encountered any 'gypsies selling flowers who than rob you', or any hassle from vendors. People were very friendly and nice, and if you keep your belongings in your sight like you would anywhere else in the world, Mallorca is really safe.
A lot of locals speak English and German, and are always very happy if you make an effort speaking Spanish to them. Mallorca was a very relaxing and safe place to be: sunshine, one of the best beaches on the island (Cala Millor), very friendly people, always possible to find something to do.

When I go on holiday, I like to experience a bit of everything. I usually book a package with a nice hotel and then rent a car and take off and explore. Then I have usually found somewhere that really gets me and then next time back I try and stay there and so on. Being told every five minutes whilst on a trip with Germans that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones live on the island.
Alcudia overview

The historical old town and the old fishing village, which was the original Puerto d’Alcudia are also very beautiful to observe. The building style seemed to me special and not that comparable to other spanish styles.

For nature lovers, there’s the famous Parc Naturel de S’Albufera, where you can go cycling or walking. But also just next to the city are beautiful forrests to walk around and climb a bit in the rocks.
A parasol and a laptop

In August: Light T-Shirts in summer are enough.... I never needed a long sleeve in all the ten days, even at night it was hot enough for T Shirts...well it was the heat wave over Europe in August 2003. Don´t think it´s much cooler anyway! Sun Lotion is a must!!! Bring your laptop if you don´t have enough photo cards for your digi cam :) I saw a lot of parasols at the airport, it´s very useful for a day a t the beach.
