More about Hotasa Hotel Samoa
Hotel Samoa and surronding area
We have just got back from our stay at the Hotel Samoa. I was probably the same as you people reading this not sure wether it was up to scratch my honest opinion is, the Hotel is very clean and comfortouble and the food whilst not brilliant was 7 out of 10 not all chips and burgers but a fairly good selection. The resort itself is not too lively thus ideal for a family with youngsters (we had 2 16 year olds with us and not enough for them to do). The hotel caters very much for the young children with a kiddies disco evey night but then its lights out at 12-15 am. Be aware unlike us that the kids in Scotland finish school earlier than in England so it was full of Scots all with football shirts on shouting and bawling all day about how wonderfull Scotland is. But on the whole for what you pay its as good as you are going to get. I hope this as helped many of you
What more do you expect from a 3 star Hotel?
Just got back from a weeks holiday and I can honestly say we had a great time. The weather was lovely the hotel is basic but clean and as for the food no it wasn't al la carte but there was something for everyone. We struggled with our four year old as he is a very fussy eater but still managed to find something for him. The entertainment was good. I have two small children so the seperate childrens pool was great. There was also a park which they loved.
The beach is a bit of a struggle with a pushchair but is well worth it!
In summary a good cheap all inclusive package holiday for the family!!
Great Holiday - entertainment crew were fab!
Just returned from a one week last minute deal at the Samoa. We did not have great expectations from a 3star hotel in Spain and we were perfectly happy with what we got. We were a mixed group with two adults, one 7year old and one of advanced years.
The hotel was clean with plenty of food choices. Restaurant for buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner and a snack bar with food served from 10-6pm. Bar was open until midnight.
The area was pretty quiet with a few shops, restaurants and bars a short walk across the road from the hotel.
The beach was a five minute walk down a hill and some steps which didnt suit us but was used by many at the hotel. Although there were two jellyfish incidents.
The entertainment crew were fantastic- Angelo,Tim, Cazz, Laura and Hana just never seemed to stop. Water aerobics, kids club, maxi club and Adult games filled the day and there was a great show put on by the team on an evening. Great for Kids/families!!
The hotel also had tennis courts and minigolf.
Cant think of any bad points for us, although I doubt a young couple looking for a lively holiday would be impressed by the late night options.
great location, hotel not what we expected!!
After just returning from one week at the samoa hotel, i thought i would share my opinion.
On arrival from the hotel looked clean and well maintained, as we checked in we then had to pay 80 euros for the air conditioning , 10 euros for the remote for the television, and a further 17 euros to have a very small safety deposit box,
as we proceeded to the room, it was clean and tidy a bit on the smallish side but it was the beds that got to us. it consisted of two old camp beds that looked like they were on there last legs, these were so uncomfortable and prevented a goods night sleep, plus the room door were very thin and late of a night you could hear everything going on outside.
The pool was of a decent size and was always cleaned every morning, however to get a sunlounger this would mean having to take your towel down at 6am to guarntee a good spot, but towards the end of the week the lifeguard started to remove towels from beds due to uproar from some of the guests.
The food was in my opinion awful, it consisted of beef, pork and chips full stop, after 2 days we had enough, thank god there was a british restarant directly over the road from the hotel called the CASA PILA , the food was amazing espicially the breakfasts abs gorgeous!!!
The all inclusive drinks at the hotel was also a massive let down
the beer was weak and gassy , and whilst we were there , a man we met managed to sink 42 lagers without even feeling tipsy, so there isnt much alcohol in the drinks, one night i ordered a baileys which was like dish water, but the soft drinks and slushes are refreshing.
The entertainment team , what can i say they tried, the late night show productions were awful dodgy dancing and terrible miming
The actual resort of callas de mallorca is lovely, lshops , bars ,restarants, beautiful beach with turquiouse blue waters, but watch out sea can get a bit powerful. i would say its very much a family resort, but me and my husband went and had a lovely time.
we will be visiting callas de mallorca again in september, but wont be returning to the samoa hotel!
Personally a very good hotel & place
I am going to give as much detail as i possible can for this hotel.
On entrance to the hotel, you are welcomed to a marble lobby area, with friendly and helpful staff waiting to help you. Within the hotel there is a mini arcade room, computers with internet access, games room with pool tables etc. lovely swimming pool with a little one for the tots by the side, 2 bars (1 only opens in the evening), television area, golf, and a place to play football. Just the standard things you would find in a 3* hotel.
I understand that some people judge their holidays on what food they have to offer, and i have to admit, the food at this hotel i felt was absolutely delicious. Breakfast was 8 - 10.30, and they had lots to offer, cereals, fruit, full english, toast, spreads (jam, butter etc.), so a wide range of choice. Lunch was 1 - 3 and a 3 course meal was available here, with soups, salads, fruits, meats and fishes, chips, pasta, vegetarian dishes, and a lovely dessert desk with a selection of desserts. Dinner 6.30 - 9.30 and same as lunch really 3 course with the same sort of offerings. Also there is a snack bar in the hotel with salads, chips, pizza, just little things incase you get hungry and is open from 10.30 - 6.30.
I have to admit the rooms are pretty basic but you don't spend much time in the room really. The rooms had a television, balcony, ensuite, 2 sockets (1 being in the bathroom), theres no fan in the room but they are available to hire at reception. But we thought that the room suited our needs with a lovely view of the sea from our balcony, we did not request a sea view, this is what we were given.
Well through out the day the hotels entertainment is brilliant will lots of different sporting activities offered to people of all ages, with a kids club for the little ones. The entertainment team were brilliant and spoke in various languages to ensure that most guests understood what was happening. In the night we found the entertainment a little poor, there was a kids disco from 8.30- 9.45 and really if you dont have young children then it does get a bit boring. We felt for the actual entertainment, 9.45 was quite a late time to start especially if you go into dinner at 6.30. I enjoyed some of the entertainment like Grease and the Moulin Rouge but wasn't so entertained with things like men vs women but maybe that was just us.
CALAS DE MALLORCA ITSELF
At first you think that there is not much there but when you actually go through there, there is a lot to offer. Loads of shops which try to beat each other out with their prices, car hire and all this is opposite the hotel. Incase you get hungry in the nights there is a burger king opposite the hotel, there are many bars around, some with singers, some with karoake. From the hotel the beach is just down some steps and a 2 minute walk down the road and your there. Boat rides are available also to visit other places and all information and leaflets are available in the hotel.
Just to let you know I am 15 years old and stayed here with my mother and father from 30th June - 7th July.
what a nice suprise
Well here we go.We booked on the internet and after reading reviews i was a bit worried.Well let me tell you the time we had was fantastic the hotel was clean rooms were basic but who stays in there long. The food was good there was plenty of choice meat, fish, pasta, veg, soup etc there was always something you could eat.it wasnt gordon ramsey food but this is a 3star hotel. The entertainment during the day was second to none volleyball, football, table tennis, water polo which was good fun.The pool was cleaned every morning and there wasnt a problem like i read in other reports. The place itself was fantastic the beach is beautiful and only 2 minutes away there was shops pubs and restauraunts and i wasnt bored at anytime. We did see people that wasnt happy there was one woman that never ever stoped complaining i heard her say she had to buy water and crisps on a night oh the poor woman i think she probably made her holiday worse by whinging all the time. Then there was people saying it was noisy at 11.30 pm these were older people and i must admit it didnt seem to be a hotel for the older person but for a family hotel this i thnk is fantastic value for money. The entertainment on a night sometimes did get a bit boreing but some times it was excellent.the only thing i would suggest is not to get the shuttle from the airport we waited an hour to get going then it took an hour and a half to get there there was 5 of us and you could get a taxi for 41 euros which was cheaper then the shuttle worked out. but all in all i thought it was a brilliant holiday i think i will be returning next year.10 out of 10 for the holiday on a whole
My husband and I visited this hotel (second year running). We booked there again because we found it was the kind of hotel where you could just chill if you wanted but could also join in as well. Because we had been before we went with the intention of having an easy time, with food and drink on tap! (Literally) The hotel is lovely and clean, rooms cleaned every day. Food, although not cordon bleu (but you get what you pay for), was good with plenty of choice at each meal. Help yourself to red, white or rose wine, beer, soft drinks with lunch and dinner. The bar service was good with a smooth running queuing system. The entertainment was fine. We ate late and watched the evening show round the pool. The area around was lively and safe and you could literally shop till you dropped! I got some good perfume bargains and the clothes are cheap too. Overall a very good holiday.
you get what you pay for!!
we have just returned from the samoa! well i dont really want to be one of those people who have expected tooooo much for what we have paid and be believe me i didnt! i have stayed in many all inclusive resorts and hotels and i have to say that the samoa is by far the worse to date! where to start? upon arrival....about 1 hour later than we should have arrived due to our transfer bus waiting for a family off another flight that was delayed from liverpool! waiting to check-in,we were told our room was on the 1st floor and the lift was over there!!!!! 20 mins later after not being able to find our room on the floor given, it turned out the room was on a -1 floor in a 2nd building to the hotel which was where there were more rooms and the lift we needed was around the corner from reception pass, the restaurant, down a few slopes and eureka.....a lift!!! then our travelling companions in the room next to us!!!! was actually on the floor below us!........
the rooms are indeed very basic!! and very very hot and humid! there was no air con available for our room but we could hire a small fan to waft around the warm dank air from our room.if you did want the fan on you couldn't use any other electrical appliances due to there only being 1 plug socket in the main room with 1 socket in the bathroom.....we had a room with a balcony but you could only leave the door open at night but you didnt get any breeze to cool the room any.
the food was what i expected in this type of hotel, never had a bad meal, there was always something you could eat,but it is like feeding time in the lions den!!! and i will explain! when we booked this trip i read the reviews and saw that it was a family hotel....what we didnt expect was the chav families from hell!!!!
most of the families were either from scotland or the north of england! and i think the thought of all that food at there desposal was just too much for them!!! kids running around the restaurant knocking drinks over bashing into your chairs to get past you for more food.......it was terrible.....if you wanted to wear something nice you had to be careful what was on your chair before you sat down incase it was covered in bean sauce or ice cream!
the bar area's are a joke......they limit you to 2 drinks per person per visit to the bar.....the drinks are all served in plastic cups! (no problem!) but if you wanted a soft drink the cups were tiny, and a beer would come in a less than half pint cup! so you are forever queing to get a drink! why not have plastic pint glasses??? most of the queing is because the kids drinks.......coke,orange etc is on the bar instead of being on a seperate bit of the bar with the coffee machines so they can help themselves and not waste time queing with the adults.......when you do finally get your drink and make your way outside for the evening entertainment!!!....you are trying to find a few plastic chairs to sit around on whilst you sit through what is proberly ok! entertainment for the families that are there! the hotel team do there best but it wasnt really for us...so at around 10ish we would venture out to a few of the other bars around and enjoy an nice pint and some decent music in stead of the eurocrap played around the pool repeating its self all day! i can recommend the irish bar o'donnels!
i know that by reading this you will think that it is a terrible hotel.....its not the hotel! thats clean, the staff are friendly etc for us it was just the other people that were there at the same time! the families didnt really seem to care what there children were up to,the games room one night when i popped in to get a packet of sweets from the snack machine looked like a war zone with kids smashing the video machines and trying to break the popcorn vendor!!! not one parent around and these kids ranged between 2 and 16.if i see another holiday maker wearing the same football shirts allday everyday then i'd be ashamed to be british....!! i can see why we get such a bad reputation abroad!!!
all of this didnt spoil our holiday it just made some entertainment for us.......as people watching and a beer is the best form of entertainment.
"What a holiday!"
As we a walked in to the hotel we thought our weeks stay was going to be fantastic. I would give the apperance a 4* rating. The rooms were of an acceptable standard could have been much cleaner.
The entertainment throughout the day was very good however most nights was seriously lacking in quality!
On the way to the hotel we joked about how much weight we would have put on by the end of the week.
HOWEVER!... we couldn't have been anymore WRONG!..the selection was rubbish the veggie food was almost non-excistant. They seemed to have a rota of breakfast that went ...un-edable...just about edable.
NEVER...did we excpect to have to get food outside the hotel because it was so disgusting there. The waiters/waitresses were reasonabllly well manered however some were very grumpy too!
LAST OF ALL..To try and make you have a clearer picture of the food everyday you were better off going to the poolside snack bar than going to the restraunt for the proper meals.
BY THE END OF OUR HOLIDAY...the "JOKE" was no longer how much weight we would have put on but how much weight we would have"LOST". It became a daily "JOKE" about what "WONDERFUL" meal they would be providing us with today!
****SUMMARY***** Would go again if it was self-catering so just for the stay in the hotel but wouldn't even dream of going back there now!
