More about Hotel Hotasa Eurocalas
Club Eurocalas - Much better then expected!
A good 7 out of 10.
Family - 2 adults, 3 children - aged 14, 11 and 9.
After reading the reviews we didn't know what to expect from our late booking for a weeks holiday at the Eurocalas, but have returned impressed by what we encountered.
Weather - Good, more cloud than expected but very warm.
Facilities - Good. Plenty to keep all occupied, Football pitch, volleyball, Tennis, Push bikes
Washing machines & tumble driers on site 2 euros a go.
Room - Clean & big enough (TV only had 2 english speaking channels Eurosport & CNN)
Food - wide varied choice, though some of the quality not the best but edible. Always something there that we all could chose to eat.
Pool - Fine - a downside the folk who think they own the sunloungers & kept towels on the loungers for their entire stay or you had to get up before 8 a.m. if you want a lounger for your own family to claim yours (sad)
Beach - 25 minute walk or 10 minutes on 'train' - brilliant for waves, very clean sea & beach & not a massive cost if you stayed all day(14 euro's for 3 beds & parasol)
Night time entertainment - We didn't enjoy, but there were plenty of families/people there every night.
The main drag of shops, bars & eaty holes only a 20 minute walk away which catered for all we wanted for a night time.
Bar staff - very over worked & on the whole okay but there were one or two barmen with very poor people skills.
We also would recommend for families with Kids a day at the Waterpark at El Arenal (Aqualand) which we booked independently takes approx 1 hour to get there. Picked up (0830 hours)& dropped off (1800 hours) from front of hotel (Cost for all 5 for transport & entrance to park 130 euros) - a great day.
If interested in going to this then pick up agood amount of leaflets at Palma airport as they have 5 euro coupons to be exchanged at the main gate of the park & can be exchanged for food or at the shop. we each recieved a coupon & ate lunch with drinks for under 10 euros for 5 people.
A good time was had by all....
I have just returned from a 10day stay at Club Eurocalas and was after reading several reviews not looking forward to this holiday and seriously considered cancelling. I took my 2 children aged 10 & 12. We arrived at 1.00am & the reception area was clean & bright & the staff were very friendly and polite. We were escorted to the restaurant to enable my children to have a drink and something to eat.
Room - everything in the room was brand new and spotlessly clean, during our stay the towels were changed virtually daily and the bed linen twice. The room was plently big enough to accomodate 3 people & the balcony overlooked 2 of the swimming pools.
Food - the restaurant is very clean and the staff ensure that food is kept available & tables are cleaned promptly when vacated. There was something for everyone & on a daily basis the choice was vast. For example: choices for evening meal are pork, chicken, lamb, beef, pasta (plain or served in mixed salads or bolognaise), salads, potatoes cooked in various ways, fresh fruit, various desserts, fresh bread......need I carry on. There is something for everyone no matter how fussy. This is the first holiday i've been on where my children weren't ill and believe me my 10year old never stopped eating and tried everything!!!!
Pools - I observed these being cleaned daily & the pool areas were cleaned each morning. A Life Guard was on duty from 10am till 5.30pm. The poolside snack bar was open from 10am till 6pm and offered chips, burgers, salads, chicken nuggets, ham & cheese, bread & ice-cream & drinks on tap including lager!!! Later in the day biscuits were available.
Entertainment - during the day something for everyone including the usual kidz stuff; water polo, football etc. For adults aqua aerobics daily + darts, shooting etc. The evening entertainment wasn't great but the kidz loved it - we felt that maybe an adult disco should have been included later on but this didn't really spoil our fun.
Bar - open daily from 10am serving all alcoholic drinks & beware coz they make shorts very strong!!!!! Also available are soft-drinks, ice-creams and cocktails, both adults & children get served promptly & the staff are polite & courteous.
Resort Centre - quite small but everything available. As this is an all-inclusive resort there are not many restaurants but we found a lovely Italian one for a change and a treat for the kidz.
Overall this has been a wonderful holiday & yes there are many German, French & Spanish & other tourists but surely if you are going abroad then this should be expected. Many of the people I met there were equally as shocked as I was. They provided excellent value for money - well done to Club Eurocalas and all its staff.
WORST HOLIDAY EVER
My friend and I have just returned from the worst holiday ever.
SERIOUSLY if you have booked this hotel- CANCEL or be prepared to live in cramped dirty rooms for your stay.
We were orginally booked into the sister hotel the SAMOA but on arrival were not even greeted with an hello and just told that there was no room and we had been placed at the Eurocalas- we complained but to no avail. they claimed it was due to a plumbing issue but were never really sure
Eurocalas is 15 mins walk from the centre and the beach and is if you can believe it slightly better than the SOMOA
the first room we were offered was in a multi storey tower (8th floor and you could not fit children and suitcase in one lift)
Rooms TINY and 6 hangers in the TINY wardrobe - just ridiculous for four people. BED collapsed.
We complained and were moved to another small room with 2 single beds and a camp bed- even though there were 4 of us.
My friend shared a single bed with her daughter for ten days
You can hear everything and I mean everything going on in the rooms next to you from arguments to people using the loo....etc etc
The lift constantly broke.
You had to get up at 5.30am if you wanted a sun bed as guests or inmates left towels out either overnight or taken out before dawn ( it became a if you can't beat them join them scenario)
All and i mean ALL the sunbeds were broken .
You could buy rubber rings, boats etc in the shop but the lifeguard refused to let any of the children play with them in the pool.
The food was revolting. If you like non stop greasy chips - then fine but the variety was poor, too samey and just dire. However the breakfasts were ok, Drinks really full of sugar for kids and nasty cheap ice creams as part of the all inclusive - lets feed you rubbish deal.
The manager refused to meet with us- even though we arranged 3 meetings- he failed to show up to any of them.
If you book a slot on the table tennis table- buy your own bat and ball as none are provided.
Evening entertainment- just a bunch of teenagers prancing around looking like total morans (Germans found it funny- i rest my case)
Parents letting their kids run riot everywhere while they prop up the bar. Kids running over sofas etc and showing no respect for any one or anything.
No Such thing as a queue at dinner in the canteen styled hovel they called a restaurant.
Hotel staff- with the exception of 2- all rude and unhelpful
Rooms not cleaned properly. Clean towels only provided if you basically took your dirty towels to reception and made a point!
Resort is very basic - not much to do if you took the walk down to the centre.
There was a very nice Pizza place - we ate there probably 3 or 4 times as the food was so bad and there was no other choice.
There was only Mini Golf for kids and not much else other than arcade games and Sky sports/ Tesco ad's blaring out all over the place as well as endless English bars offering to show you Eastenders/ Corrie ... are you not supposed to be on holiday ? If I wanted chips beans and egg, would not have bothered to go abroad!!!
Every time we went to reception people from different countries and walks of life were complaining about the rooms, or some aspect of the hotel so it's not just me being snobby or expecting more from a 3 star hotel in the height of the Summer Holidays- EVERYONE was complaining as it was just so awful/
not quite as reviews has said
just got back from eurocalas in mallorca, majorca after spending a week there and i have to say the hotel was not up to scratch, when we arrived at 11.30 we were told our room would be ready for 1.30pm we called back at reception at 2.00pm and our room was still not ready it was 3.30 in the afternoon when we finally got keys. we were placed on the 12th floor of the hotel and the view was great but by second day the lifts had broken down and had to walk up 12 flights of stairs, also the air conditioning did not work and did not get fixed until the second last day. Our towels got canged once and had to go to reception to ask for more clean towels also our room got cleaned once. One night after watching the rubbish enteriment which was in german and spanish we walked into our room and it was full of ants on the floor bathroom and food cupboards so i reported it and they sent a worker up with 2 cans of insect spray to kill them only could not be used with humans about for up to 2 hours. great! they did not offer another room so we had to wait in reception until the ants we cleaned away. two days later more ants arrived totally sick. The food was ok if you enjoy fries hamburgers pasta and salad it was a rip off the bar staff were not friendly they might as well just shot the drink at you because thats what it felt like. The enteriment was the same everynight same group of people it was rubbish and there was a spar shop on site part of the hotel which was expensive by i mean a paper was the price of £1.70 a pot noddle was £2.00 and so on they sold lilo's but were not allowed in the pool because the life gaurd would not allow it so that was a con aswell. We went all inclusive and still spent £600 on pool games and eating out because of the same menus every day. Would not recomend this hotel but the choice is yours.....
ok but concerned about health
Nice cheapholiday £1100 for 5 of us. Food and drinks ok. struggled with childrens food. Concerned about little boy who burned himself in toilet, slipped on chemicals?????Broken english at reception caused problems. room clean and maids cam all but 2 days. Not enough sunbeds forpeople but the towels relaxed nicely. snack bar was not good, canteen ....good variety but we have all come home with bad tummys and earache, never saw the pool cleaned. No courtesy bus or we never found one.Mixed hotel with german, spanish, french and english guests. Staff friendly. Hopper bus journey dreadful 2 hours long..........but we did archery, crazy golf, snorkelling, pool.....kids loved it.
Not bad for a cheap holiday
We were very worried about going to this hotel after reading the reviews. It was not that bad. Not the best we have had better. My husband Son pregnant daughter and my Granddaughter went out for 7 days. We had a delay at Gatewick and did not arrive until 2pm in the morning. We were offered something to eat and drink on arrival. The food was ok we have had a lot worse in Turkey. The staff were friendly. The pool was very clean and there were cleaners around the pool and entertainment area every few hours sweeping up and empting the bins. The rooms were basic but we only slept in there so it did not matter that much. The air con worked as well much to my relief. The Germans were up very early and it was quiet hard to get a sunbed. Looking out from our room at 8am nearly every sunbed was covered with a towel. We were on our hols and did not want to get up early to save a sunbed. On the 4th day we were by the pool at 9.30 at 12pm there was 10 beds that had not been used all day so i removed the towels of 4 of them and we used the beds. The germans came down at 13.45 and they did get the hump but did not confront us luckily. The hotel could make it better by not allowing sunbeds to be reserved as loads of beds had towels and not used all day. The other thing that i found silly was you were only allowed to get 3 drinks at a time as we were only having soft drinks i found this very annoying. You could go to the snack bar and help yourself but it was around the other side. On the whole we made some very good friends that live near to us and i am sure we will stay in contact with. We only paid £250 each and i can honestly say we did have value for our money and would go back again.
Great Basic Holiday
Just back from a 2 week stay. Were a bit apprehensive after booking last minute and then reading the reviews !! Hotel was great. Very clean . Rooms pretty basic. With a bit of furniture moving it was OK for2 adults and a 5 year old. We were right at the bottom of the complex which when we arrived we were a bit dubious about but turned out ok as it was no where near the "entertainment" so no noise and we had a nice view ! Pools were clean and tidy
Snack bar food I would avoid if poss as I think all deep fried although they did have fruit and salad. Main restaurant food was ok Some days better than others. we ate breakfast lunch and dinner and didn't struggle to find something we liked. Restaurant was clean and tidy and staff friendly.
Drinks. We drank the beer at the pool and also the water from tap( next to the beer tap) Nobody was sick or had dodgy tummys Red wine in the restaurant was fine. again so was the water.
Kids club : Bit laid back . Our daughter who was 5 came back on her own a few times as she was bored.
Entertainment:: Not good also no where else (outside) to sit if you didn't want to listen to it !
Top tip !!! Take a scart plug and cable (think that was it!) you can then watch your DVD through your portable DVD player and then on the TV
All in all a great place for what you pay. It's not 4 star and you get what you pay for. Anybody we met who didn't like it had all gone on "British" all inclusives and this didn't match up .
I was really worried about going on my holiday to this place after reading the reviews but we found it absolutely fine, food was good a wide choice (not chips with everything like some had said) rooms were clean. The whole complex on the whole was good only slight probelm with bar staff not always enough of them at times but they coped best they could.
The bars nearby where very good plenty for kids to do mini golf karts etc.
All in all i dont know what people found to moan about we all thought it was good.
Good Value for Money
After booking our holiday a week before flying out, we later read the previous reviews and thought we'd made a grave mistake.
We expected to be holidaying on a building site with nowhere to sunbathe and to dine each day on a diet of chips and bread rolls, but I'm pleased to say we were WRONG!
Here's a quick rundown of our experience:
ROOM - A bit small and cramped I'm afraid, a family of four living in a room really only suitable for two. The air conditioning was faulty which made living conditions uncomfortable especially at night. We complained 5 TIMES in one week, and it was only fixed once.... for about a night.... before breaking down again! The staff were gracious in handling our complaint before doing nothing though.
FOOD - Extremely varied and not half bad. Something for everyone, even my fussy children. you could either eat at the restaurant or at the snack bar, which appeared to be open most of the afternoon. A typical restaurant meal would include a choice of salads, vegetables, pasta, rice, potatoes, chips, fish, meat (hot & cold). Need I go on?
DRINKS - As much as you like as often as you like, but only three drinks at a time per person served in plastic glasses. Inconvenient for a family of four; still the kids can get theirs self service from the snack bar. Make that two beers for me and a large Baileys for the wife, cheers!
ACTIVITIES - Lots to do during the day; football, volleyball, tennis, archery, shooting, etc. for the adults and a mini and maxi club for the Kids. Two good swimming pools with plenty of sunbeds if you're prepared to get up before 8.00am
ENTERTAINMENT - Enthusiastic Amateurs, much as you'd expect including a kids mini disco.
There was no sign of any building work whilst we stayed there, and the whole complex was clean and tidy. There was only one entry/exit to the complex via reception so that we felt safe to let the kids do their own thing.the staff were helpful and cheerful.
To summarise I would suggest that anyone wanting to lie in bed until noon, before expecting food cooked personally by Gordon Ramsey, and later wanting to be drinking pink champagne whilst being serinaded by Celine Dion for £300 per head will be disappointed.
Anyone just wanting a cheap family holiday could do a lot worse.
Overall an enjoyable and good value for money holiday.
31st aug- 14th jul This was a german hotel with some spannish
Iread the reviews but still went and wish i never.
1. Main pool dirty with plastic cups, scum lines around the pool,
one day there was kids sick gathered in the far end of the pool,
not allowed to use lilows or any floating aids.
You cant get a sun bed around the pool at all, if you do find one you have to keep it by leaving your towels on over night.
There is no point in getting up to find one!
2.Bar staff very rude except the bar manager he was very nice.
All the rum vodka ect ect was very week, 15 rums later and it felt i had 2 pints of fosters, coffee like tar could not drink it.
3.The room was good, As for sat tv i dont think so, the only english speaking tv was cnn and euro sport for part of the day.
All was in german.
4. Entertainment was the worst i have ever had on holiday in 20ys. Two night out of 14 was worth watching for an 1 hr African dancing and knife throwing. Not enough tables and chairs to go around If you do want a table and chairs for the night you have to send your kids down and find one by 7pm at the latest un till you come down or there gone! White plastic chairs most were broken. i saw at least 5-6 people sitting and falling and snapping the legs.
All in German speaking and spannish, The germans do not like the english and its made clear!
5. The food was fit for dogs! any one who says the food was good they must eat bad at home!
Pigs trotters, jelly fish soup, uncooked pork chops with blood still dripping, chips with left over veg mixed together. we were all inc but had to eat out every night. My 3y old held her hand over her mouth when walking in the restaurant same food every night!
We had to hire a car to get away from there, water park in palma was brill, we went 3 times. Because the hotel was so bad we spent an extra £1500 on car hire eating out all day and night.
So if you go to this hotel and you are on a budget forget it!
The only people that was nice was the african people working in the grounds!
I have now booked another holiday last week in august to get over this one!
Please please please if this is your only holiday for the year dont go!
And if you want to know more please ask!
