More about Hotel Marina Corfu
We have just returned from a week at the Marina Corfu/Skorpios. These two hotels are in a beautiful location (see photos).Food was good to but most of all the service from the staff was probably the best we have experianced. Polite freindly pleasant and welcoming. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the beach hotel to go on a couple of excursions (caves of drac a must). We did have a few reservations before we departed as i always use TRIP but these reports were all unfounded. It states that this is a family orentated resort but we found it to be a good mix of younger couples, families and older couples.(p.s. go all inclusive if you can its much better value for money and you can always eat out just as we did a few times as an option).
WELL DONE MARINA HOTELS WE WOULD RECOMMEND YOU HIGHLY.
Col and Mim Preston
I have just returned from the Marina Corfu Hotel and it was brilliant! We have two small children and they loved it. There are two pools a main one and a smaller pool. We stuck with the smaller one because it was great for my litlle boy who is 3. The food was lovely, as I was a bit worried as we were all inclusive. There was so much selection and even on a lunch time you got a really nice meal. definately go into the prooper restaurant for lunch because there isn't much on offer at the snack bar. The entertainment was great too. Last thing, if you want a sun lounger be prepared to get up at 6.30 am to get one it is quite funny the way people go on over the sun loungers but we were the same by the end of the holiday!
Loud, British smokers
We arrived 2 days before the hotel opened and stayed in Skorpios upon arrival. We were not impressed with this hotel and hoped that when Marina Corfu opened that it would live up to the reviews. However...we slowly became disappointed with the Marina Corfu. Our room was in the best location, top floor on the corner over looking the cove, shame it was tiny, with a teeny weeny double bed if you could even call it that! The room was clean but they could do with buying some new sheets and towels, ours had lots of holes. There is a charge of 10 euro a week to rent the kettle and 20.50 for the safe. The food was lovely the first day but went down hill fast. Variety was ok if you want chips with every meal, and you have to remember what the dishes look like as when they are served a second day they are not labeled. The laundry room consists of one washer and one dryer, the dryer doesn't work. We were charged a different price every time we went to get tokens for the machines. The entertainment took place in the Skorpios which we did not attend as it meant sitting in a room full of smoke. People constantly smoked, even under the no-smoking signs and at the reception desk while talking to staff! Being non smokers we were very much confined to a few areas. If you are a light sleeper don't even consider going here, it is very loud or rather the guests are! I did find it funny that all the Brits were the ones out saving sun chairs while they always say the Germans do it. The only positives I have to say on the hotel are that the location is good and most of the staff are very friendly. We will never return to this hotel. They should advertise this hotel as being suitable for cheap, loud and overweight Brits only!!!!!!
We stayed at the Marina Corfu / Skorpios resort in Cala Egos, Majorca for a week and have just arrived back home, having read alot of reviews I felt that I must add my own as myself and my family were extremely impressed with our choice and find very very little to complain about despite some of the reviews we read prior to our trip.
The location is superb with your own little cove / beach a stones throw away - so very safe and clean for the children, the hotel was immaculate, our sea vies was fantastic -so close to the sea we could see the jelly fish and fish swimming.......and the food ,as it is all inclusive, was really great with lots of choice for even the fussiest of eaters.
The rooms are a little crammed but as the complex / beach is fantastic we only used the room to sleep in so it was great and the air conditioning kept the room very very cool which is unusual as most air con abroad is rubbish.;-)
The pool area gets very very crowded and so this was a little disappointing -definately not large enough for its hundreds of guests and the reviews we read were spot on when it came to sun beds, YES....people were up and about at 5am putting towels out to reserve beds........however the beach was not as busy so it was definately worth paying 4 euros for a sunbed each day - well worth it for the peace and quiet and space on the beach.
The only real complaint I would add is that the pools are very heavy clorinated and so virtually bleach everything that comes in contact with it -especially the bikinis my 2 children wore all week which have now gone in the dustbin as they have completely changed colour and look terrible - so a TIP for you "dont buy new bikinis " ;-)
The entertainment was average but did make us laugh at times, the staff are very nice and helpful and the Hotel is in a great loaction with lots of shops a walk away.
I could talk all day about the positives and good things of this hotel though so go ahead and book this complex - its great and i,m sure you will love it as we did.
Great time had by all !!
After reading reviews of this hotel on various holiday forums, I was quite dreading our holiday to the Marin Corfu.... BUT.....These fears were completely unfounded as we had a brilliant time, from the moment we checked in and found that the view from our balcony awaiting us was of a beautiful sandy cove and a great view of the well kept pool area, to our first experience of the All Inclusive, which was ten minutes after check in we were beside the pool with an ice cold beer in our hand watching the children spalsh around in the pool. I feel that those travellers who grumble about the restaurant food are obviously those who are expecting to eat exactly as they would at home but my husband and children can be amongst the fussiest of eaters and never came away from the restaurant hungry although snacks around the pool were very limited.
Entertainment was a bit hit and miss and was at its best when professional acts were on rather than the hotels entertainment team putting on a show, but they did try their best! Sunbed situation was the same as you get everywhere with towels down by 5am but more needed as shared between the two hotels!!
I would travel to this area again and would stay at the Marina Corfu although I would shop around more for a better price or book direct with the hotel.
Happy Holidays !!
i had been to the hotel corfu 2 times before howevere this was the first time it was all inclusive and it couldn't of been better. The hotel is lovely it is clean and tidy and is at a high standard for a 3 star hotel. the rooms are nice but simple however they now have air conditioning and a fridge which they didn't before. The food was fanastic always something different pleanty of choice The entertainment was fantastic the best i have ever seen the entertainers are the best paolo, oli steffan cinsia are all amazing there are also children entertainers of sarah katie and rosh who are fantastic too. There are pleanty of different activites something to please every one. water polo is espeacial fun accept if your not on olis team hes a big cheat and goal hanger lol. At night there is always some entetainment for the children which is either a mini disco with all the classics and where we where there we had a parrot show this was followed by bingo and then a show which will end by 11:30 the queen and beatles bands are fantastic but also the comdian was one of the funniest one i have seen. The only problem is the sun beds are there is not enough and therefore u have to get up early to get some as they are locked up at night and are opened at 9 by 9:10 they have all gone also jelly fish in the sea is a problem but the pool is so nice u don't really need to go into the sea. Cala egos itself is quite but has a few bars which are good there are quite a few shops and to be honest we went into cala dor to shop but we didn't need to.
Also the train which goes from cala dor to cala egos is extremly busy and would recomend u get a taxi as it is a simuilar price.
Over all this holiday was fantastic i would for certain go back again. Every one who is going i hope u enjoy your holiday as much as i did.
Loved the place not too keen on the food
went from manston kent, hotel spotless definatly give cleaners a tip rooms cleaned every day to high standard, our room was ok but because of facing beach and pool you also are on same side as stage (no chance of bed before 12) cala dor is 5mins away by taxi (5euros) loverly town shops etc also you can hire pedelos for 15euros 1 hr kids loved them, boat trips available but take the catamaran(glass bottomed) marineland is a must also aqualand buy from town about 30euros cheaper than hotel people all very friendly and alot are return visiters the beer is ok also you can buy san miguel for 1.5 euros a bottle all driks are served in little plastic cups queues are not too bad the only moan we had was the food breakfast is ok lunch and dinner can be very hit and miss you can have 2 really good days then 3 really bad days but its normally carvery 1 day pitza the next with a large choice of other dishes salads, pasta dishes, pies, stews chicken and even rabbit. kids food was often cold beach is loverly sorkerling is good water a bit dirty pool waste of time unless you want to get up at 6:30 and sneak about like a child
I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Hotel Corfu Marina and it was brilliant. I had been once before 10 years ago and it didnt fail to impress me again.
the hotel has 2 pools one main pool were you have activitys such as water polo and a quiter pool both having a babys pool. The beach is a beautiful cove beach with white sand and clear blue sea, great for snorkling!!!
I recommend doing a few excursions one of them being the boat trip to Cala Mondrago. you catch the boat by the hotel (bit of a rocky walk but is only 2 mins). the boat takes about 1hr and stops at lots of different coves and beaches before eventually dropping you of at Cala Mondrago. this boat is a glass bottom boat and when it stops at the beach there is an hour for you to go diving of the boatif yoyu wish. at the beach there is 2 very nice resturants. if however you do not want this and you are all inclusive there was an option of ordiring a packed lunch from the hotel.
If you are looking to do a bit of shopping i recommend going to the market on sunday. i do not reccomend Inca on a thursday. it took us 2 hrs there and 2 hours back with only 2 hours spent at the market. I was not impressed!!!!
The hotel is actually in Cala egos and you are very near 2 towns one being Porto Petro. i recommened this for people who enjoy there food especially fish. the two to visit are the Maritimo and the resturant Porto Petro. this is a 5 min ride in a taxi and will cost you 5euros.
other wise there is Cala dor. this is were most of the night life is. it is full of resturants but you get what you pay for!! and you can get there for 5euros. there is also an over ground train which takes you to both towns.
Cala Egos is a small town but plenty there. there are some shops a supermarket (not as big as ours but still with everything you could need) and plenty of resturants and bars. the town however is never rowdy and there is no trouble.
the staff at he hotel are very helpful and the hotel is spotless. one thing that was great was having a fridge in the room and air conditioning. i went before the schools broke up and so the hotel was comfortable. i have a feeling though that it could be extremly busy during the height of season and finding a sunbed by the pool could be a problem!!
i will definatly be visting this hotel again in the future.

Fantastic. we had a great time here. Some of the best customer service i have ever witnessed. everbody is friendly and the room are spotless. Plenty to do for all ages everyday i.e shooting pool childrens games . Another bonus is the beach just 10 steps away. recommed it dearly
We arrived early in May, a few days after the hotel opened which was quite good - very relaxing! We asked to be moved to rooms with a sea-view and there was no problem with this. The view was wonderful! The rooms are clean and quite spacious with lovely bathrooms. All the staff are helpful and pleasant. We were very surprised at the quality and variety of the food, being all inclusive we didn't expect it to be so nice but it was excellent.
We loved it - but would advise older couples like us to go early or late in the season and miss the crowds. Lovely area and lovely people - we had a fabulous time!

Re: esmarelda gardens .cala dor
We visited Cala dor with the family last June, enjoyed it so much my wife and I went back in September and we have booked again for this June. This is the nicest Spanish resort that I have stayed in. Don’t expect noisy nightclubs or Benidorm open all hour’s nightlife. There are loads of great restaurants and bars but it's a more relaxed atmosphere. If it's the one I'm thinking of the Esmerelda gardens looks very nice and stands virtually on the Esmeralda beach if that’s any help. There are about 5 beaches. all within a short walk, my favourites were Cala Gran and Cala Dor. Restaurant prices are very reasonable, There is a great Chinese not far from the Esmerelda beach next to the 3 dolphins restaurant. And a very nice place called Mistral. Then there are all the places in the main square. I'm sure you won’t be disappointed with your choice. The Marina is lovely for a stroll around. The Caves of Drach are very close and are worth a visit and we went Scuba diving which was great. Palma and the water parks are about 1 to 1 1/2 hours on the bus but were worth the time. We may hire a car this time and have a look around. the rates seemed very good at the local agencies. Let me know how it go's.

I maybe moving there from the mainland, i have a 5yr old too so i know what you mean! will let you know if i get there before you go.
Can you help
Could you tell me is there any ideas of fun things to do for a 12 year old in cala dor in june?
RE: Can you help
Not in Cala D'Or, but in Esporles (I think this is the name of the village where this attraction is). I strongly recommend to spend some hours at La Granja. This is an old mansion-museum with a garden, woods, farm animals, handicrafts exibitions and so on. Have a look at my Mallorca pages for the tip and the web-address about La Granja.
RE: RE: Can you help
Thanks Maurizioago, That's sounds like a good idea for a visit.

You're welcome! If you need some other info about Mallorca, write to me.

...other attractions in Mallorca? El tren (train) de Soller. The train from Soller to Puerto de Soller. From this you can see some orchards.
