HRE A PEDALO
We hired a pedalo for an hour at Magaluf beach. There are many vendors and its cheap to hire. Great fun , but watch out for the sunburn while you are out on the sea !!

A friend and I stayed at the Majorca Beach Hotel for 1 week (the week commencing 3 June 2006) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel offered a great mix of being quiet enough for sleep (after going out drinking until 6am) and being close enough that you can walk 50-100 metres down the road to be in the thick of the nightlife.
The hotel was cheap and clean. I never ate or drank there as you are so close to all the bars and restaurants that there really was no point.
The hotel has two pools and a runs onto the beach where they have free sun loungers.
Unique Quality: If you get a room on the back of the hotel you get great views over the beach, onto the sea and a small island about 600 metres away.
The hotel is excellent for the money. It is far enough away from the loud bars that you can get some sleep but close enough that if you walk 50-100 metres down the road you can be in the thick of it.
The hotel was cheap, clean and in a great location.

Whilst searching for a bargain on the TV Teletext we soon realised that it pays to ‘do your homework’ by looking at sites like this. Some of those offers are not quite as good as they appear.. Fortunately for us we did the research before ringing-up, so knew that although this hotel was inexpensive, it had been given the thumbs-up by other people.
Not having seen any glossy brochures of the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. I have to say it would benefit from a bit of refurbishment (having old frayed carpets and two lifts that seem to take turns at breaking down) but on the plus side it was scrupulously clean and any requests to staff were dealt with immediately (and with a smile).
Our room was situated overlooking a busy road and that meant with the balcony doors open, there was a fair bit of noise. First thing in the morning were the dustbin men and street cleaning machines, then late at night/early morning you could hear the drunken youngsters staggering back from nights on the town.
The first week of the holiday, every single morning we were woken up at 5am by some lad returning to the room next door after a night out. This lad never, ever had a key and would ring the buzzer repeatedly until the other occupant(s) woke up sufficiently to let him in. Fortunately he was gone for the second week of our stay.
Whilst we were there, first two weeks of September, there were a lot of single-sex parties of young people in the hotel, but by and large they were polite and well behaved.
Our room was more than large enough with plenty wardrobe/drawer space. Unfortunately the beds were well past their sell-by date, mine wasn’t too dreadful bad but my hubby's was like a hammock.
As an ultra-fussy vegetarian, for me food is always an issue and in the past I’ve often survived on salad and bits of fruit whilst staying in hotels. This time however I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was there a proper vegetarian option (sometimes a choice of two) at every meal, but there were lots of nicely cooked vegetables and imaginative salads on offer too. Hubby had no complaints either.
Unlike some places we've stayed, it really isn't necessary to get up at the crack of dawn to 'bag' a sunbed by the pool. Most days we didn't go down until after 10am and we always found a nice spot. You can either have a sun bed by the pool or there are a second lot down beside the beach. You step directly onto the beach from the hotel. Absolutely idea.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
We stayed in this hotel for one week self catering with our 2 yr old son- first impressions were quite good the lobby area is nice, but there are steep stairs to the tiny (often out of order) lifts, which proved difficult with 3 cases, hand luggage, 2yr old child and buggy!! No help was offered by the reception staff either.
Our apartment was large and well equipped but there was a rather worrying fist print in our bathroom door which was off putting, also the mattresses were from the 70's and the curtains were torn and ragged.
Another downside of this Hotel is the younger guests that should really be staying in 18-30's accomodation as a few spoiled the atmosphere around the pool with foul language bad behaviour and constant drinking, also returning loudly in the early hours of the morning.
The pool was very disappointing because it is so deep i couldnt even touch the bottom in the shallow end! The childrens pool was so shaded by trees that it was full of twigs and freezing cold.
Breakfast is reasonable at 6 euros each and free for kids, it was buffet style continental and English - very tasty and Restaurant clean.
The position of the Hotel is excellent as it is on the beach and a few steps from shops bars and restaurants. A few that i would recommend are Tom Browns (a couple of mins walk along the beach front) and the Piano Bar (a few yard outside the front of the Hotel)
Overall i wouldnt recommend this Hotel and wont be returning, it has obviously in its earlier days been a lovely hotel but is in desperate need of TLC and a new pool!!
Very good all-round hotel. Stayed here for a week in September. The room was massive (although not all rooms were the same size), the maid-service was excellent. The food was of a good standard but the selection wasn't great and a little repetitive.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the pool area was good, although a little bit small considering the size of the hotel. The walls/ceilings were thick, we barely heard anything from our neighbours for the entire week.
Only bad points is having to pay extra for the TV (and even then only getting two english-speaking channels) and having to use keys instead of swipe-cards - which is a pain if people return to the hotel separately, etc.
Really disapointed.
If you have a young family Avoid the peak of the season, Well just avoid this hotel And area.
Me and my girlfriend stayed there July this year and have regretted it ever since.
We went half board, Check in was fine we were staying on the 3rd floor and the elevator was broken. got to our room and thought we had been put in a storage cuboard. really small
there were plenty of stains on the walls. Tried to see our rep but they were ALL TO BUSY.
The area was extremly noiy. You could not get a sun bed unless you plan on going to sleep on it at 3am.
we went on our balcony once and had glass bottles thrown at us and a load of abuse shouted at us from people on the top floor.
went to bed and got woken up at 3am by teenagers who had finished clubbin but obviesly didnt want to go to sleep so woke anyone else they could up, between people ringing our bell and knocking our door we prob had about 2 hours full sleep all night. that was pretty much all week.
the entertainment was really week. Bingo a show by the reps.
plus your regular nightly pests that try to sell you stuff.
tried to go out one night but just felt really scared.
All in all i really wouldnt recomend this hotel with kids bellow 12.
Between the drunken 18-30 lot and things being thrown at you from above its just not worth it. we were told by our travel agent it was the quieter part of the area. dont beleve it.
If your thinking of going really think about it first.
arrived and booked into hotel, check in staff spoke little english and later found them to be really unhelpful, allocated a room on 8th floor overlooking pool, room very basic with 2 sofa beds in the living area and 2 single beds in the adjoining room, bedroom wall had stains all over it looking some what like vomit, bathroom door looked as if it had been kicked off and badly re-hung. plates and cultery were missing and the air con was switched off due to time of year!
very noisy hotel through the night due to young ravers coming back from the clubs and looking to continue partying through the night
this hotel is supposed to have a kids entertainer but yet to see one
was advised by rep and hotel staff that next year 2007 they intend to use hotel for 18-30 holidays.
best to avoid if you are looking for a family hoilday
went to this hotel same week as previous reviewer and had a totally different experience. Check in was friendly and quick was allocated a room on the ground floor wasnt ideal but someones gotta have them. Rooms are basic but of a good size, ours was clean with good maid service and regular towel and linen changes. The air con was on in our room the whole week. Evening entertainment was rubish but theres a whole lot more on the doorstep so why stop in. Had no trouble at all with noisy young people only the family above scraping funiature early morning (for which you cant blame the hotel).
Pool area and grounds are lovely, plenty of greenery and very clean. There are two small play areas for kids and a small pool well away from the main one for safety. We travelled without kids but saw kids entertainment on everyday so it wasnt difficult to find.
The main public areas are alittle worn and could do with a refurbishment but again clean and bright and spacious.
The best thing about this hotel has to be the beachside location, there is an area with sand underfoot and plenty of sunbeds just before you go through the gate to the beach and its like having your own private beach.
We stayed self catering but ate in the hotel once. The food was nice and hot but not a lot of variety. I think it would be a bit monotinous if you ate there every night.
All in all a decent enough hotel for the money (we paid £228 per person) not the best ive stayed in but certainly not the worst.
fabulous hotel, great location right on the beach ,hotelstaff are very friendly and helpfull ,clean spacious rooms ,good food all english , there is a full daytime and nighttime entertainment program which is great for kids of all ages ! i would highly recomend this hotel it is suitable for everyone as there is plenty of things to do in the resort and there is a good local bus service that stops outside the hotel if you want to explore the island more, there is also a british doctors just 2 minutes away where you can hire various medical and mobility aids.
I have visited mainland Spain once but have visited the Balearic and Canary islands a few times.
I first went to the mainland to Malgrat on the Costa Brava in 1993. Since then, ive visited Ibiza 3 times, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Majorca. Each time i have been it has been a package holiday from the UK. All of these holidays were before i discovered the joy of independant travel and so all i really done on the holidays was drink and sunbathe and not explore the islands and surrounding areas as i would if i went there now.
The Spanish are very friendly and it is a relatively cheap country to visit. It is a very popular destination with the Brits!
Ibiza is the party island of Europe. In Summer, it is full of Europeans partying hard by night and resting by day. It has some of the best clubs and DJ's on the planet and San Antonio is the main resort where all the young hang out for drink, drugs and sex! The rest of the island is supossed to be beautiful and it is easy to find a quiet beach away from the tourists.
Majorca is more popular with the family holiday but also has Magaluf where all the young hang out to party!
Gran Canaria is a volcanic island and has a very hot climate. The scenery around the island is fanctastic and the main nightlife is in the resort if Playa Del Ingles which has a huge golden beach.
Tenerife is also very popular with Playa De Las Americas being the main resort. It too has many bars and partys hard until dawn!
Malgrat in the mainland on the Costa Brava is very quiet and has a few bars, a great beach and a lot of restaurants along the Promenade. There are also waterparks around and Barcelona isnt too far away.
