avoid april
by TripAdvisor Member andyh411
on arrival was greeted with," can i help you, i am not expecting anybody else today,"what a start!
anyway we got a very nice roon with a great view over palma nova bay and proceeded to unpack, but not before the thrid bed in the roon collapsed under the weight of just on small suitcase, reported to reception and repaired the same day(very good).awoke later that morning to discover no shower hose(reported and replaced same day- very good)also discovered that main swimming pool was out of service enquired at reception as to how long it would be out and was told maybe a week or more use pool around back or next door at the barracuda hotel.... not a chance the pax was full of french pensioners and the barracuda the spanish pensioners both of who took great pleasure in telling us that the pool was thiers and not for sharing.then
then entertainments sorry what entertainments-- was told by one of the reps that they do not start wortk until may 1st ,our departure date!!!!!! so much for all inclusive.
so avoid going to the marina pax or barracuda anytime during april if you want an all inclusive holiday as there is nothing to keep you in the hotel .....
Dont Understand Peoples Problems With This Hotel
by TripAdvisor Member hez80
having read some reviews re this hotel, I felt I had to say my piece! DO NOT BELIEVE everything you read. This hotel is fantastic, the hotel itself is spotless, the staff are friendly and the food is great and ok if you were staying for 2 weeks I dont doubt you would see things on the menu from the week before, but hey there is a vast choice, so there is no excuse for eating the same thing twice!! The pools were cold, but its summer season do you really want a heated pool? Most people like to jump in the pool to cool down when they are cooking? So there were some groups of friends and couples there but I never heard of any problems with them, and at night when the entertainment was on at night, you always had the daft couple in their 40's up drunky dancing, which itself is always class entertainment, you also had kids entertainment and "bingo bongo bingo"".The only problem I had was with the clampits who were in the next room with 40 greeting weans, but it didnt spoil my holiday! I would point out though the Baracuda doesnt have such a good reputation,so be careful with that one!
All I would say is if you want an all inclusive holiday for a good price, in a nice area which is quiet, but not nursing home material, then this is the place to go, we loved it and would go back again and again.
Back once again....

I have stayed in the hotel every year since 2003 and it never disappoints! The staff are friendly and you are never pressured into doing the activities. The food is very good with different specialities every night! – I have stayed 5* AI in Mexico and Egypt but this is the hotel I recommend to my friends. I am 25 and the hotel has a cross section of ages and that’s the beauty – everyone gets along! Its not pretentious and its not loutish even though it is very close to the night life. Rooms are cleaned daily and the air con is very good – always kept cool and the water dispenser is a god send when you get in from a night out. The bar staff are always to serve you (till midnight) and don’t mind you loading up if you wanted to stay in the hotel and not go out. The town is a very short walk away with BCM (huge club) is just round the corner but you do not get any of the revellers passing by as it is the opposite direction of the night life. The 2 pools are excellent and both have pool bars, you can get snacks from the main pool bar. They are also very accommodating when you come to leave – if your room can not be held on they will lock your cases up and offer you a half hour block of another room to have a shower and provide you with all of towels etc. Very good hotel in my opinion but I always go as a early summer / early September get away so cant comment on peak season but cant imagine it faltering!
Not as good as previous

We have stayed at this hotel on a number of previous occasions on an all inclusive basis, and have always found the staff and food to be excellent. We arrived at the hotel on this occasion later than expected, due to a delayed flight, the receptionist was waiting for us and booked us in quickly. We then dumped our cases into our room and went down to the restaurant for our evening meal. Now, whenever you stay here, if you arrive after the restaurant has closed, the staff always put a meal aside for you to eat at your leisure along with drinks that you help yourselves to. Normally there is only my partner and myself, but on this occasion we had brought along some friends and their families. 6 adults and 4 children in total. When we arrived at the restaurant, we found 10 plates but only 8 meals. Somebody had got in and eaten 2 of our meals.
The rest of the holiday went very well. The children were absolutely mad about Sally the entertainer, who along with Adele and Jan did an amazing job keeping ourselves and the children entertained the whole week. There were some good live shows including a very funny comedian.
The only drawbacks that we found on this occasion were that the food (although nice) and the room cleaning were nowhere near as good as previous visits. The food choice was limited, there were no theme nights and there wasn't much variety. Each day was very similar. This was a surprise to us as it had been the food, the staff and the hotels location which had made us return time and time again. Regarding the cleaning, on previous visits, this has been outstanding but unfortunately not this time. Some days the room did not get cleaned at all. The balcony was cleaned about twice during our stay (1week). We even noticed a cigarette butt on the floor near one of the lifts, this was there for days.
We are booking to go again in October, but if the food and cleaning situation has not changed then that will probably be our last visit to this hotel which is a shame because all our previous visits have been excellent.
great holiday

Stayed at thi hotel for 2 weeks last september, must say best holiday ever, food amazing, staff brilliant, rooms great, i would definetly say that this hotel should be a 5* and the night life in magaluf is amazing and the beach is onli a 2 minute walk from the hotel entrance, the staff are very welcoming. As we arived in the early hours of the morning they had a prepaired cold meal for us, chicken salad.I would deffinetly recomend BCM and another bar that sits on the corner down from thi scottish bar forget the name tho lol was a while ago really a brilliant place for teenagers!!!
Awful, just awful!

We were stuck in this god forsaken hell hole as the hotel we booked had over booked. they expected us to stay here for 3 nights. 1 was too much! When we arrived the food left for us did not look even close to edible, and had been left out for a long time (it was chicken). Between myself and my girlfriend and our 2 friends our rooms had air con that fell off the wall as you tried to turn it on, mould on the shower curtain, some sort of slime on the other shower curtain, rust in the bath, beds that were close to collapsing, and neither room looked clean. The next morning half way through some toast we saw there was mould on the bread. Later at lunch i tried a chicken burger, after one bite i spat it out, as it was bright pink inside, not close to being cooked. the manager hurredly hid it from view when i complained. Would not let us use the phone to complain to our travel agent, and were just generally extrememly unhelpful. We may of only stayed for one night, but that was too long!! This is supposedly a 3* hotel, it would struggle to pass for 2* in the UK.
not all that!!!

The hotel was ok for the price, we were woken most nights at 6am with people coming in and shouting on balcony, there is no security to keep them quiet. Food got very boring towards end of the first week, so we ate out few times.
Kids club was brill didnt see much of the kids, bar staff and restaurant staff lovely, not very helpful at reception, our flight was changed and reception wouldnt let us phone the rep, said it wasnt his problem!!!
Overall couldnt wait to get home!
loved it

Whats the best way of getting from Palma Airport to puerto de soller?
by glitterjunkie
Hi
Please could someone advise me of the best way of getting from Palma Airport to puerto de soller? I know its about 40 minutes in a cab so i'm guessing that would be quite expensive as I will be traveling alone. Is there a bus or a train i can get instead?
Thanks,
Ali

If you try Google or Tripadvisor you will get lots of links to taxi services between Palma airport and Puerto Soller.
www.spaintaxireservations are offering a fare of €71 and www.a-t-s.net offer it for 63
A private taxi service which only has an email address might give a better quote, the address is condejtaxi@hotmail.com
www.toandfromtheairport>com/balearics.html give all the transport info and links you might need
