More about Torrenova Marina
Nice Hotel very clean
The hotel marina torrenova is very clean, the cleaners change your sheets every day and clean your room. There is a good variety of food, but wasnt that keen on there puddings, depends what you like.
We went in October and the weather was lovely it wasnt to hot and only rained for half an hour.
Alot of water sports at plama and maguluf beaches, also alot of pubs and restaurants.
The hotel wasnt that far from the beach which was good and everyone complains about the hill but it isnt that bad as people make it out to be.
We have just returned from a two week holiday at the Hotel Marina torrenova. This hotel is situated on a large steep hill (cardiac hill) within walking distance of both magaluf and palma nova, if anyone in your party has walking difficulties this is not the place to come, however if your fit the hill won't be a problem. The hotel itself looked like it had been recently refurbished and it was clean throughout, although when we got our room on arrival we found the room had still not been cleaned from the previous occupier, however before I could get back to the room from making a complaint the cleaning staff were there. The food was repetitive and the first week it was edible however we were disapointed with the second week as the food went down hill and on several occassions it was cold which was not nice. we saw several people went out to eat in other bars / resturants. The swimming pool is small but the pool itself is ok there is not enough room for sunbeds and this is an interesting experience, if you want a bed you had to queue before 8am to stand any chance of getting one !! some people were even there by 7am!!. The hotel open the pool at 8am and its like a stampede everyone just runs to try to get there position! you must watch this from your balcony as it is very funny! There is 2 beaches close by so if you don't get by the pool there is an alternative. The bar prices are expensive compared to the surrounding bars within walking distance. The thompson reps were very friendly and they had lots for the kids to do, there is evening entertainment which is average and make sure you go out on fri night as they have a rep show which is terrible, they have outside entertainment about 4/5 times a week, be warned they have a lot of audience particpation!. We personally wouldn't go back to this hotel again (average).
Stayed at Marina Torrenova from JUne 12th 2006 for one week.
Lovely clean hotel, having a fridge in the room was a brilliant asset with 2 kids it kept our large bottles of water cool.
Very clean hotel, we had a cleaned room every day, lovely staff so friendly and cant do enough for you, reception staff lovely too.
The pool was the only down side you have to que ready for the door to the pool opening at 8am, if you go down any later than 7.45am you are at the back of the que and no sunbed for you!!!
Food was great a little limited for the children so they ended up having the adult buffet instead which was fine.
Drinks were expensive but we just stuck to water with evening meal and then went out. Beach at palma nova and magaluf fab and clean but remember 9euros a day for 2 beds and a parasol which you need! Magaluf was a bit wild for us but ok in the day, oh and that hill.... its VERY STEEP they even sell t shirts half way up saying "no one told me about this bloody hill" Would def go back though 10/10 for hotel(ignoring the pool issue!)
best holiday ever!
Just returned from a 2 wk stay at the marina torrennova with our 5 yr old daughter.
The hotel was first class, room was a decent size and we were on the top floor so had an excellent view overlooking the pool and the sea. The room was cleaned everyday with a change of towels
The food was excellent quality with plenty of choice. There was a seperate section for the kids so they would never go hungry.
The Thompson reps kept us entertaintained both through the day and in the evening, with professional shows about 4 times a week.
The service overall was excellent and all the hotel staff were very friendly.
The hotel bar prices were overpriced but we paid the prices as the entertainment made up for it.
Our 5 yr old daughter had her birthday whilst we were on holiday and she was well looked after. She was very sad on our last day as she did not want to come home.
We all had the best holiday ever and we will be booking up for next year very soon.
Tacky, tasteless overpriced and overcrowded
The hotel is, to all intents, in Magaluf with all that this entails.Tat,drunken 18-30's and porn. Accommodation was clean and hotel staff friendly and efficient.
Swimming pool and sunbed area too small for amount of guests. Bar VERY expensive.
Thomson Reps were of little practical use and entertainment was repetitive e.g."Agadoo".You got no peace beside the pool because of the constant music and so called entertainment. Most of the children's evening entertainment required parental supervision so you are forced to participate in Rolf Harris songs etc... The professional shows were tolerable but if you value your sanity avoid Reps night!Although the kids enjoyed the clubs and entertainment, the racket in the evenings 'till midnight meant that they had to stay awake. If you think the clubs will give you a bit of child free peace think again...different age groups had clubs at different times so, depending on how old your kids are, there will always be one to look out for.Not the impression we got from the brochure.
Hotel food was edible but repetitive and purely British (Yorkshire pud every night!). Any attempts at Spanish or Italian were a dissapointment.
Once you get away from the Magaluf end of Palma Nova, there are some good cafes and restaurants which you will need when you can no longer face the hotel food.
we got the local bus timetable and cleared out for some of the days. The town of Palma is lovely and we enjoyed Tapas and other genuine Majorcan things.
We were very disappointed with this holiday package and felt it did not give value for money. We will not be repeating the experience.
hotel on the hill !!!
just had two weeks in this super family hotel.
The hotel is on a BIG BIG hill. not for the unfit, we did the walk up it a couple of times!!! then we just walked down and got a taxi back up, in the evenings it usually cost us 4.00 euros a bit more after midnight , but well worth the money.
Very clean hotel, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the thompson reps did a great job for the kids, jemma and groovy gary and zainy zara were our four year old daughters favourites.
The kids clubs were good, but considering the amount of dissapointed kids that couldn' get in perhaps thomsons need to
increase the number of sessions???
Shame about the hotel bar prices REALLY WAY OVER THE TOP...... made us go out more in the evenings.
The Hotel pool snack bar was good value at lunch times.
The kids pool was very good, they could play safely under watchful parental eyes all day, and the main pool was a good size, not too deep either, manned by life guard, but please remember to watch your family at all times as the life guard can get distracted and water is a danger! !
I do not understand the incessant need to queue for sunbeds. I find it funny to watch them with their towels under arm half asleep, We managed to get beds after 9, not ones that were in the sun allday but we were in the pool most of the time so it didn't matter.
The rooms were kept very clean and towels changed every day, the rooms were a little small but you only need it for getting dressed etc. and sleeping in so it wasn't a big problem, having a fridge in the room was a fantastic plus they also supplied kettle in the rooms as well. TV was good BBc and ITV plus a few more (all in english) which was a bonus when waiting for everyone to wake up in the morning.
An iron was available from the hotel reception to use in the laundry room (refundable deposit) I needn't have packed my travel iron...
over all the holiday was nice, I personally would not go back again, that being my personal choice.
Good Family Hotel
Just returned from 2 week stay at Torrenova and found it to be quite an experience in some respects. While the hotel is excellent for children it would not be suitable for the less mobile. The hill leading from the main resort to the hotel is very steep and not really advisable in 38 degrees. The food was never hot, only luke warm with a good choice of dishes although pork on the menu every night, after a while a bid tiresome. One evening we could hardly get a seat inside or outside to have our meal. The RACE for the sunloungers is an experience, towels were lined up along the lift every morning from about 7am. On holiday you want to be able to lie in a little and get a lounger at your leisure, if you were down after 8.15am you had no chance of a lounger at all. This is not what you really want on holiday. Although we had a good holiday and the staff in the hotel were very helpful and pleasant we shall not be returning again next year.
My wife and I have just returned from a brillant stay at this hotel.
The food was excellent, The Hotel staff superb and the Hotel rooms very very clean.
The only drawback was although we went at the end of September we found lots of school age children at the Hotel.
This however did not stop us having a great time.
Cannot wait to go back.
could do a lot better!
cleaning hit and miss. food went downhill very rapidly as they laid staff off. don't book at the start or the end of season.. WARNING sold as a superfamily hotel by Thomson, but one of the nearest bars to the hotel is a LAP DANCING BAR, which is nearer than the nearest bus stop which is Magaluf, not Palma Nova.
We chose this hotel with Thomson's, it came highly recommended. I am widely travelled and I can say with complete certainty that this is one of my favourites. It is situated in Torrenova which is between Palma Nova and Magaluf which gets you to both resorts within two minutes! The hotel is clean, food is fine, staff are lovely, reps were ok. Entertainment was good but if you're going to this area you're not planning on staying at the hotel are you? We enjoyed lots of crazy nights out in Magaluf and also some lovely meals and quieter pubs in Palma Nova. The hotel itself is sitting on a hill but the walk isnt too bad and its very handy for the beach and shopping markets. It was very easy to meet other people. The only thing we did not like about this hotel was the very irritating parents who seemed to think that it was ok to forget about their children and let them splash all and sundry in the pool. If this is your first time to this area its perfect until you grasp which area it is you prefer. Make the most of the trips and beware of drunks and persistent sales people! Have a great holiday!
