Re: majorca visit

I haven't actually used Alpha rooms though we are booked with them in September to go to Portugal.
But I have found them very helpful and any queries have been answered within a short time.

A few years ago I remember there were often questions about that company on this forum but I don't think I have heard anything about them for quite a long time.
The hotel booking sites most frequently recommended by members are booking.com and venere.com
You might want to look at them to get comparisons. They also have reviews of the hotels submitted by people who have actually stayed thee.

Alpharooms always come up as recommended by these travel journos etc, along with bookings. com and maybe hotels.com.

I have heard of them sufficiently that I would probably used them if we were 'hotel' people. But I have no first-hand knowledge.

Travel Tips for Majorca Island

Get out of the tourist resorts...

by Waoife

Get out of the tourist resorts & see the rest of Majorca. It's quite a bit island & has some really nice scenery - especially on the north of the island which only really has one majory resort (Alcudia)

Palma

by hundertmorgen

Palma is the capital of Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands.

This ancient town, founded by the Romans has a lot surprises to offer: on the road which leads to the market it is possible to visit important places such as the XVII century town hall and the old market place, Placa
Major,Bellver Castle, a strong symbol of the island, dominates everything. It is one of the finest examples of military architecture of the XIV and XV centuries, although its circular golden stone structure gives it a strangely modern appearance.

The Old Quarter of Palma has great cultural richness. It is worth visiting the XIIIth. century Cathedral, the Xth. century Arab Baths
and the churches, Town Hall and the walls that used to entirely surround the city.
There are modern buildings of importance such as the Gran Hotel. Here you can also find nice cafes and restaurants.

To finish with, you can visit the Poble Espanyol, an open-air museum displaying scaled-down exact copies of the most famous architectural treasures in Spain.

We were clearly not the only ones taking a stroll... this donkey walked freely around.. A few of his companions we found a bit down the road. Nicely knibbling some grass here and there. This one probably was just a little more adventurous

Cats

by Kristina1701

We met this "little tiger" near the beach of Sa Coma; it's sooo cute, isn't it!?! Wished I could have taken it home with me! :-)
During your vacation on Mallorca you'll realise that there are quite a lot of homeless cats. To my horror I was told that in winter, when it's getting cold, most tourists are gone and thus there's noone any more to bring them food and thus they go into the residential areas, they are often killed by the residents! :-( It's a unbelievable, isn't it??

to all those who speak Spanish: if you want to know what's going on in Spain and the rest of the world I recommend to visit one of the following pages: http://www.abc.es, http://www.elpais.es or http://www.el-mundo.es
