Hotel Casas Del Lago (Video),This is just our impression of a two week stay. The staff and management are very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much problem and always polite, anything you wanted or wanted to know about the area they were very helpful, including ringing Avis on my behalf to find out where my Hire Car had got to. The rooms were cleaned regular and towels changed every other day if requested. The cleaners were very polite always knocking before entering and with limited sign language we got to understand each other, by the way their English is far better than my Spanish so no complaints. The Moans now (not many): You have to hire the Toaster and Kettle (€36 for two weeks)which I think is a bit much they should invest in some Kettles and Toasters and have them in the room as standard. Safe is available for hire too ( €40 for two weeks + €10 deposit which is refundable on return of the key) The favorite moan everywhere, they have a policy not to put towels on loungers to reserve, you guessed it no one takes any notice.Either back up the policy or don't have one.it wasn't a huge problem but inconsiderate to other people. Tip: You get a plastic card to use for switching on the lights and Air Con which also has the door key on. The air con is activated by the sensor on the door,so remove the key off the fob and keep it separate, leave the plastic key card in the slot ,when you come back the room with be cool. Overall: Very Impressed, thanks for making our stay a good one.
The views are most prob the best ones in Cala'Bosc Marina,it has most probably one the biggest pool in the area and is well maintained and cleaned regular. Outstanding is the the staff who man the reception area: Raphael & Emma always there to help and always polite (Thank you both). I really could not fault this place at all a few moans yes but still a very pleasant stay.

We got quite a bargain here. We booked the hotel through Travel Republic and got it for just 70 Euro per night on a half board basis (that's for two of us, not each). This was well below the hotel's own quoted price (less than half in fact) and we booked it with the thought that we'd never eat at the hotel, but that at that price we'd not be wasting much. As it turned out we ate at the hotel most nights because the food was marvellous. Spain is often a pretty poor destination for vegetarians, meat and fish forming part of almost every meal. At this hotel though there were always at least two veggie main courses, sometimes as many as four, and one day that included the most wonderful vegetable Paella. Plus there were enough salads, vegetable accompaniments, deserts and cheeses to fill the most ravenous of eaters. Oh, and the rooms were decent and the (harbour) view to die for!
Err, the food! The rooms are comfortable and clean, the view from the sea view rooms is lovely, and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. The location is pretty good too, and suited our needs well. If there is one draw back about this hotel it is a drawback that afflicts the whole town of Es Castel: there's no beach. There's not even a beach quite close (one travel brochure we looked in lately said it was 500m to the beach. Err, it's about 10km!). That didn't bother us, we're not the type to spend all day at the beach, nor round the pool. We like to get out and about and explore, and for that Es Castel was ideal. It's just a half hour walk/5 minute drive from Mahon, the capital; just across the bay from the La Mola fort; close enough to the airport and yet far enough away (15 minutes drive); has the gastronomic & nightlife hub of Callafonts just a 10 minute walk away; is close enough to the main road network to make getting anywhere easy. I'd stay here again without question (and I just checked, we can get a week for two in early October at 50 euro per night!)

We found it by chance, on a last minute internet search... It seemed too good to be true, but is one of the nicest small hotels I've been. The location is in the centre of Maó, close to the City Hall square. It is definitely not the typical location for a beach and sun holiday, but as we had a rental car, and we were more interested on exploring the island than lying on the sand, it was not a problem .
Do you want to spend a few days in an old mansion from 1740, recently restored and decorated with an exquisite taste and all modern facilities? You’ll have a nice room with your own bathroom (all refurbished a couple of years ago). If you are a group you can rent “the apartment” on the last floor. The place has a pleasant tearrace/solarium on the top, and a few of common lounges were to relax, parlour gaming, music listening or TV watching. The breakfasts were fabulous, served in the big table of the kitchen, with views to the patio. All fresh local products: typical Maó cheese, “carn i xua” and “butifarra” (local seasoned sausages), “ensaimadas” (local pastries), coffee or tea, fresh fruits…yummy! Finally yet importantly, the manager, Dani, and all other member of the staff, so attentive and helpful, all of them will make your stay unforgettable. The place was “friendly-to-any-kind-of-nice-people” (when we were there the other clients were a gay couple and 2 families with kids). These two appartment complexs are side by side only separated by an open gate. We stayed at the Arepar which is the furthest appartments on the west of the resort. The views were breathtaking over two wonderful blue coves and the beautiful beach stretching below to the East. The appartments are comfortable and the shower was very powerful. The pool was a good size and always space to swim and plenty of room for the ample sunbeds around the pool. Shade via parasols or in the casual poolside bar. The staff where wonderful - Hola Carol and Michelle at the bar. The views from the air-conditioned resturant are wonderful. The bar is expensive a very small sprite is £1.40! However the biggest plus with staying in these appartments is not only are the prices for the accomodation reasonable but you get complete run of the neighbouring Isla Pariaso Appartments which are far grander. The Buffet there is a must £12 per adult, £4 per child and eat all you can - lots of lovely fruit and veg there which is lacking around the rest of the resort. There are two more pools here and lots and lots of space around the gardens for the superior sunbeds and parasols there. Also we could use the Sa Mirada Complex which was 2mins around the corner but we didn't need to go. Overall this was a lovely relaxing holiday, with lovely views, friendly staff, good entertainment, lovely food and the complexs are clean throughout. Lots of families with small children all seemed very happy. I wouldn't take teenagers as there isn't much for them there and lots of young kids. The hotel - Club Agua there looks terrible across the bay but is distant enough not to affect us. They seemed to have very little else to do over there. We much more and more relaxing. Can walk around to both sides via the beach very easily.
The entertainment was good. The entertainment reps - Kit n Kat, Chez and Emma - were always on duty whether they were on their day off or not. They always had a smile and the kids really loved them. If you meet Kat in the Isla please call here a pilchard or in her lovely German/Canadian accent a 'slimy fish' - its so funny - honest!. Also a must see are Nicky Elle the fun Yorkshire singer and the incredably energetic and talented Roberts and Ashcroft (JoJo and Vicky I think!). They are well worth a night in the bar. The in Arsenal is brilliant for children - big and spacious. Pure sand and lovely shallow water. It is a quiet resort so dont go expecting loud late nights. Its very cosmopolitan used by Brits, Germans, Italians and lots of Spanish alike - this keeps the standards very high. We paid £950 for 2 adults and 2 children for one week in June. Next door in the Isla you'd pay double for the same thing (oh thier appts are nicer tho! Hope you can recognise it by my sketch! by NickiE If you find this house, you really are so lucky. It is a beautiful house, set in acres of gardens. The owner, who visits every now and again is more than happy for you to help yourself to watermelons, peppers, plums, oranges, and all the other sumptious fruits and vegetables that grow there :)
This house has an outdoor pool set in beautiful settings, a basketball court, and an underground cave!
