JARDIN PLAYA: MENORCA´S LOVELY APARTMENTS

Hello, my last summer holidays where in Menorca.
Menorca is a lovely island, ideal for families and everyone who likes to have quiet holidays.
We stayed in a beautiful apartment few steps from the Arenal d´en Castell beach, "Jardin Playa" you can find them at www.menorcaplus.com
We book the apartment from the owner, everyone were very friendly. Apartment was very clean and it had all we need to make us feel like home.
Shame those apartments don´t have a pool, it would make them PERFECT!
The beach is clean and beautiful as much of the beaches in Menorca.
We had a great time and definetly will be back again.
Thank you.

Unique Quality: Just a few steps from the beach!!

Hotel Casa Del lago: Hotel Casa Del lago

Hotel Casas Del Lago (Video),This is just our impression of a two week stay.
The staff and management are very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much problem and always polite, anything you wanted or wanted to know about the area they were very helpful, including ringing Avis on my behalf to find out where my Hire Car had got to.
The rooms were cleaned regular and towels changed every other day if requested.
The cleaners were very polite always knocking before entering and with limited sign language we got to understand each other, by the way their English is far better than my Spanish so no complaints.
The Moans now (not many): You have to hire the Toaster and Kettle (€36 for two weeks)which I think is a bit much they should invest in some Kettles and Toasters and have them in the room as standard.
Safe is available for hire too ( €40 for two weeks + €10 deposit which is refundable on return of the key)
The favorite moan everywhere, they have a policy not to put towels on loungers to reserve, you guessed it no one takes any notice.Either back up the policy or don't have one.it wasn't a huge problem but inconsiderate to other people.

Tip: You get a plastic card to use for switching on the lights and Air Con which also has the door key on.
The air con is activated by the sensor on the door,so remove the key off the fob and keep it separate, leave the plastic key card in the slot ,when you come back the room with be cool.
Overall: Very Impressed, thanks for making our stay a good one.

Unique Quality: The views are most prob the best ones in Cala'Bosc Marina,it has most probably one the biggest pool in the area and is well maintained and cleaned regular.
Outstanding is the the staff who man the reception area: Raphael & Emma always there to help and always polite (Thank you both).
I really could not fault this place at all a few moans yes but still a very pleasant stay.

Valentin Star, Cala N Bosch: Exquisite Hotel

This Hotel's entrance is in a side road but it does tend to dominate Cala N Bosch's Marina. It is a low rise hotel of just two stories which circles a huge pool. The hotel's staff are all friendly, polite and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms are spacious and decorated quite superbly. In fact I would say the whole of the hotel's decor is quite superb in my personal opinion.

Unique Quality: The food at this hotel caters for everyone and if they don't, let them know and they will try their best to cater for you. My husband is a vegetarian and ate very well.

Los Lentiscos: It's big pool little pool

Los Lentiscos is a huge sprawl of decent-sized apartments in Cala en Forcat. The apartments are centred around two pools; one huge, one small. Never ever in a million years would I want to stay around the larger pool - it's grim grim grim. Tacky entertainment, tacky music and unbearably busy.

We were lucky though. We had a ground-floor apartment right infront of the smaller pool, and very nice it was too. More couples seemed to be based here, away from the raucous families by the larger pool.

Every apartment has a balcony or terrace, a kitchen with a dining and a decent sized bedroom. The complex is very well run, and rooms are maintained to a high standard.

Unique Quality: Our smaller pool was right next to our terrace, which was fantastic for a morning swim.

Barcelo Hamilton: What A Bargain!

We got quite a bargain here. We booked the hotel through Travel Republic and got it for just 70 Euro per night on a half board basis (that's for two of us, not each). This was well below the hotel's own quoted price (less than half in fact) and we booked it with the thought that we'd never eat at the hotel, but that at that price we'd not be wasting much. As it turned out we ate at the hotel most nights because the food was marvellous.
Spain is often a pretty poor destination for vegetarians, meat and fish forming part of almost every meal. At this hotel though there were always at least two veggie main courses, sometimes as many as four, and one day that included the most wonderful vegetable Paella. Plus there were enough salads, vegetable accompaniments, deserts and cheeses to fill the most ravenous of eaters.
Oh, and the rooms were decent and the (harbour) view to die for!

Unique Quality: Err, the food!
The rooms are comfortable and clean, the view from the sea view rooms is lovely, and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. The location is pretty good too, and suited our needs well. If there is one draw back about this hotel it is a drawback that afflicts the whole town of Es Castel: there's no beach. There's not even a beach quite close (one travel brochure we looked in lately said it was 500m to the beach. Err, it's about 10km!).
That didn't bother us, we're not the type to spend all day at the beach, nor round the pool. We like to get out and about and explore, and for that Es Castel was ideal. It's just a half hour walk/5 minute drive from Mahon, the capital; just across the bay from the La Mola fort; close enough to the airport and yet far enough away (15 minutes drive); has the gastronomic & nightlife hub of Callafonts just a 10 minute walk away; is close enough to the main road network to make getting anywhere easy.
I'd stay here again without question (and I just checked, we can get a week for two in early October at 50 euro per night!)

binimar: super fun

we stopped in the Binimar hotel in June 2004.

I had read a few hotel reports on this place and I can say I was not looking forward to going, but when we got there I can't believe I even thought about cancelling this holiday!!

The Binimar is a complex of 2 story apartments, we stayed half board but self catering was also available. Think if i was to go back I would go self catering. The food on offer was nice but not much variety, and by the end of 14 days you were ready for a change. My 3 yr old had no trouble with the food.

There was 2 swimming pools nice and clean, a childrens play area, kids club and eveing entertainment.

On departure, go could leave your suitcase in a special departure are which also included nice showers, toilets, hairdryers.

I would definatley go back here.

Xaloc Playa: Excellent Beach Side Hotel

I stayed here the last week in August, while the hotel and resort seemed busy (by Menorcan standards) you never felt crowded.

ROOMS

The rooms were nothing fancy but had maid service everyday, fresh towels and linen as required or requested. There were also tvs installed last year showing 4 english channels bbc2/3 cnn/skynews), some german channels and spanish if you felt like keeping in touch with the rest of the world.

Next year they plan to install air conditioning which will make summer holidays much more pleasant, then it gets 5 stars.

FOOD.

You can't please everyone. As far as I know they only have half board guests. Breakfast 8-10 and dinner 7-9. For that you get choices of 3 yogurts, 6 cereals, dry fruit, fresh fruit, fruit juices, tea, coffee, cooked meat, cheese, jams, 6 types of bread, eggs, bacon, sausages, beans.

Dinner was just as well provided for, soup, rolls, fresh salad of all sorts, asparagus, musssels, the main courses were a pasta dish, chicken, fish, beef, pork, and about 6 choices for dessert. If you couldn't find something you like there must be something wrong with you!

Yes I know it is not restaurant standard, cook to order but how can you expect it to be? There was always a good choice, it was fresh even if you came in late they were bringing out fresh food.

ENTERTAINMENT

I stayed for 7 days and had a different show for 5.
African/Samba/Salsa/Capoeria
Irish dancing
Group
Singer
More dancing.

There is internet access at the hotel 4Euros an hour.

One afternoon a scuba diving school came to the pool to give people a free sample lesson - scary but fun. Now I can't wait to go back to have a real dive.

Unique Quality: Great location
Adult/Childrens pool
Table Tennis
Pool
Crazy Golf
Internet
Entertainment 5 nights a week.
