Mallorca Island..... Tips and Tricks
by stefaniamas
Happy Hour and Discos!!!!
To describe Playa de Palma's most important attaction...2 words are enough... Happy hour and discos...!
If you are searching for relax, go on the other site of the Island..... Just to enjoy Mallorca Island, here some little advices...
1) Rent a car.... car are really cheaper and it's useful to see beautiful landscapes that this Island can offer.... It doesn't matter where you decide to go, everywhere you can find beaches or villages, it's up to you to decide where to stop you!
2) If you are looking for German people.... go on Playa arenal (and area surronding) where nightlife is built up for them (beers, sausages and many discos..)
3) If you are looking for English people... go in Magaluff (in the west side of Palma de Mallorca) where you can find Pubs, english soccer match on Tv's....
4)If you search for Italians... go everywhere!
5)PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR WALLETT.... DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN THE CAR YOU RENT, AND LEFT RELEVANT DOCUMENTS (SUCH PASSPORT) IN THE HOTEL...
6) If you smoke...buy the cigarets directly in the Island (last year 1 pck Marlboro was 1.70 Euro) NOT IN THE DUTY FREE (where it costs 2.50 Euro!)
7)Don't taste Sangria Champagne if you have to go to the airport and take return flight... Flying drunk is 1 of the worse thing I ever done!!!!
Packing List
by hopesuzanne
Depending on the type of trip you are taking on Mallorca, you should adjust your baggage. If you are only coming on a weekend get-away, a large backpack will definitely hold enough. Otherwise, a suitcase will do. In the summer, you will definitely want to bring your bathing suit! Even in the late spring you might get lucky with some good weather. Bring comfortable shoes for walking around, and if you want to go clubbing, bring an outfit to go out in. Shorts are NOT commonly worn in Spain unless going out to the beach. Definitely bring your sunscreen and mosquito repellent in the summer, along with some aloe or after-sun lotions. Most common medicines can be found, but if you like a particular brand, bring it just in case. Sorry, the only camera I use is a regular, 35mm self-winding one, so I'm not much help here. However, like the rest of Spain, you can usually find whatever you need if you are willing to pay for it or use an alternative brand.
Trains in Mallorca
by russian_yaz
In Plaza de España U´ll find the train station, right next to the touristic information office and across the Soller railway station.
This is the only train besides the Soller touristic train. It goes from Palma until Sa Pobla, a small town near the other side of the island. It goes trough Inca, the 2nd town in importance on the Island, after Manacor. In a small village after Inca U can change trains and go to Manacor instead of Sa Pobla. Inca is almost in the geographical center of the island so if U´re on bicycle or just walking, this is a good start and end point for your excursions far from Palma.
If U´re heading to the south, better go to Manacor and from here is more easy to get to the south.
Trains depart each day each 45 minutes, each one our in low season. First train is at 6:30am and the last one from Palma to Inca is at 10pm. It will take 2 euros from Palma until Sa Pobla or Manacor. To Inca is 1.80 euros. If U plan to come back the same day, better buy a 2 way ticket and there will be a small discount.
Palma - so much to see
by pugwashman
There really is so much to see in Palma, and the best way to see it is to just stroll around and see what you find.
Round every corner there is either a church, landmark, avenue, ornate building, monument or plaza. Obviously everyone heads for the Cathedral and Palace, and rightly so, but don't miss what else there is to offer.
You should go to the Placa...

You should go to the Placa Major (main square) - when we went there there was this strange guy dressed up in weird clothes doing some sort of dance..!! Definitely worth a look! And there's a shopping centre underneath it too.
I love all foreign town squares - you just don't get that sort of thing in Britain...which is a shame. This one is so lively, you just have to go to have a look at whatever's going on that day.
