lovely hotel

just returned after spending 14 days in the condes de alcudia what a lovely hotel, staff very friendly couple of the staff in the dining room are british which was lovely.Food was excellent no complaints from myself my husband and two friends who were with us we were half board and the breakfast and evening meal suited all of our tastes. The beach is only a short walk down the road and the market which is on twice a week was a lovely walk of about twenty minutes. We would walk to the harbour every evening which was lovely and finish the night off in the British bar called The Bamboo run by Paul and his partner. We will be returning to Alcudia next year our holiday there was the best we have had for quite a while come home very relaxed and rested. The only down side of the hotel was the two lifts too small and always queues.
it's bad

The swimmingpool is small and dirty, the music instalation is really bad, the manager wouldn´t listen the only thing that was good was the entertainer GJ if he wasn´t there it would be rubbish
Not good, not bad

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel from 23rd jul to 4th aug, a very busy time for this hotel. Upon arrival everybody was being sent to other hotels for 2-4 nights as they were full, this was happening daily throughout our stay, we got sent to the saturno for 2 nights, which was not too bad but very far from the beach, 7 swimming pools made up for that tho.
When we got to the condes after that we were given a 7th floor room which was quite good standard, tv only has spanish and german channels tho apart from eurosport. Maid service was brilliant.
The hotel has 2 bars, 1 inside and 1 outside by the pool, the 1 inside was airconditioned and just what i wanted in the blazing heat of mid july however I never once saw this bar open, they only ever have staff to run 1 bar at a time and this was outside, which was sweltering, and with massive queues of an evening time. Pool is the size of a postage stamp, forget getting a sunbed as they are all taken by the time you try to get one, unless youre very very lucky/fast. Not such a problem with the more quieter end of alcudia beach a stones throw away from the hotel, my advice is not to go all inclusive here at this time of year, you can upgrade for 12 euros a day per person if you change your mind anyway.
Great english run bar just up the road from the hotel called sgt peppers, often having a cheap deal on alcohol, 2 euros a pint while i was there, great restaurant on the main road 2 mins walk from hotel called pago pago, recommend the texan bbq kebab with a litre of beer, steakhouse on the corner not much cop tho. Food in the hotel is not too bad tho, breakfast was generally good, only had lunch once which was jus the same as an evening meal, has a choice of fish, veal and chicken or pork, chips or boiled potatoes, 2 veg and a lot of salad, didnt really fancy desert but have a lot of mini ice creams for kids. Go early for the meals, as this is when you are guaranteed a clean set table, towards the end is a nightmare, dirty tables, used plates and cups everywhere.
Generally we enjoyed our holiday but we are not the type to stay in the hotel much, entertainment was crappy and hard to get a table due to the size of the grounds in comparison with number of rooms, but enough to do outside the hotel, main part of alcudia is a good 20 mins walk tho, but numerous bars and restaurants/shops going up towards the port.
At the end of the day this is a 3 star hotel, so you cant really be disappointed with it, if you want quality then book a 4/5 star, you get what you pay for, nothing more, nothing less. I read some reviews about it being primarily german, not true, staff speak english to the same level as their german, never was a problem, if you want to go on holiday to a hotel full of english people, go to cornwall, dont go to majorca.
PS. there is a washing machine in a room behind the outside bar, ask at reception for the key, pay a small deposit, however it dont wash too good, recommend soaking in the bath with handwash first then transferring to main machine to rinse, its a big one
Not enough of everything

We arrived Sept 16th.Thankfully the hotel wasn't full!
EVERYTHING in this hotel is too small:-
The lifts (4 persons?)
Toilets in the bar area (2).
Pool
Restaurant-Bar
ALL too small!
On arrival we were given a key to a room on the 7th floor. The staff were very helpful in changing to a lower floor immediately. Probably due to the hotel being reasonably quiet.
The room was clean and compact, although the bathroom was tiny and felt like an extension of the next room due to the vents carrying the voices clearly.
Other reviews on this hotel comment on the sun bed issue but this wasn't too bad due again to the time we visited I think.
Some tour operators won’t accept child bookings however there were children there, thankfully not many due to the school holidays being over.
The "entertainment" was very poor. Bingo in 1 language is bad enough but 3?
We were all inclusive but I'd recommend going half board and upgrading there for 12 euros pppn.Due to the fact that one of the two bars was very rarely open, hence huge queues and nowhere to sit near the outdoor bar.
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful although the "older" female bar staff at the outdoor pool seemed only to like the Spanish, She was downright rude to everyone else. Even if you did try using your basic Spanish.
The location of this hotel is perfect. A stone's throw from a fantastic beach, with shops and bars also nearby.
We tried a few of the local bars for food and drink, again due to the lack of bar staff at the hotel. Recommending Pago Pago. Also take a wander down to the port and visit "the Irish Tavern" friendly staff and reasonable prices.
We'd definitely visit this area again, probably later in the season like this visit, but would choose a different hotel.
dont believe everything you read about the condes

we stayed here in aug and yes i accept the lifts were small along with the rooms, but the hotel is absolutely immaculate and the food was superb with lots of choice and tastes to cater for everyone. We upgraded as soon as we arrived because we went to sgt peppers and had a meal and drink with no change from 15 euros, so to upgrade for 12 euros a day each is an absolute steal. The pool is tiny but we had no problem reserving a lounger before breakfast round about 8.30am. The entertainment for kids during the day is superb and the entertainment in the evening is structured but thoroughbly enjoyable. The weather was okay with some days unbearable but there was quite a bit of cloud. My only complaint was that there is only one duty free tobacco shop (that we could find) in the whole of alcudia but luckily that was only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
