Me and my boyfriend are going to cala ferrera for a week in summer. Can anyone advise on good authentic spanish restaurants. Also, is there any nice local wine?

I’m sorry for the delay. I haven’t seen your post untill now.
Ok, you ask for a good local restaurants. In Cala Ferrera there are good restaurants, of course. But if you want to taste the “real” Majorcan food you must go to a “Celler”, that’s the name of the old typical Majorcan restaurants. I’m sorry but Cala Ferrera is a very popular touristic resort and you can’t find nearby a “Celler” you will need to rent a car and make a day trip. Chack the following URL
http://maps.google.es/maps?hl=es&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=celler+mallorca&fb=1&gl=es&hq=celler&hnear=mallorca&ei=VeO8S7zsHKfqmgPo9MivCA&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CB8QtgMwAA
J, E and D are the best restaurants. Remember that’s just my opinion.
Enjoy as much as you can!

Ooops. I forgot the local wine. Taste:
"Ses Nines" from Binissalem.
Or another not very well know but I like a lot: "Sangre de Toro" (Bull's Blood).

Travel Tips for Palma de Mallorca
mineral water is your friend
by laynaliana
definately has to be the millenium club in the BCM complex, absolutely insanely huge club !
its always worth going, we're talking popcorn parties, foam parties, gold night, amazing place ! lying on a secluded beach (it was quite clean too) the sun beating down, slight occasional breeze. beautiful weather, you could go out walking for hours at night or early morning.
i miss it its like my kind of paradise !
Oranges, clementines and citruses galore!
by jwayne77
Take time to explore the eastern part of the island. I recommend the traveller to take the train from Palma to Soller. It is cheap and will make you go through some very nice scenery. Once you reach Soller, walk through the mountains to Port de Soller. Along the way, you'll encounter scores of Orange trees and other type of fruits found on the island. Bring a big bag, fill it, and walk peacefully to the seaside. Voila!
There are two ways to get to...

There are two ways to get to Palma, one is ship and the other by plane. Palma´s airport is one of the most modern in Europe, and has connections to all over Europe. There is a ferry from Valencia, Barcelona and Alicante daily, that takes about 8 hours.
For moving around Palma i would recommend you to rent a car, its the easiest way to see the whole island. Taxi is quite expensive, its only worht to use it in the city. There is bus connections from the city to the nearby beaches like Palmanova, C´an Pastilla, S´Arenal. I would recommend you to take the train to a town called Soller. Its a slow train that goes through the mountains, and gives you beautiful views.
Apart from this, most beaches have scooter, Bicycle and Rollerblades rent, which is quite good to move around in the beach towns.
Palma de Cathedral, Mallorca, Spain
by Canuck5
The Cathedral dates back to the 13th Century. Work began on it in the year 1230, on the site of a pre-existing mosque. It wasn't completed until 1601.
Made from golden limestone and designed in the French Gothic style, the cathedral is 121 meters long and 55 meters wide. The main body of the church is set in the middle of a mass of pillars and spires, behind which lies the strong buttress reinforced with a double row of flying arches.
The bell tower, still unfinished today, is 52 meters high. It holds nine bells, the most famous of which is the N´Eloi. It is 2 meters in diam., and weighs more than 5,700 kilos.
Almudaina Palace
by al_mary
The Almudaina Palace was originally
built as an Arab fortress, however,
following the conquest of the island
in the 14th Century by King James,
it became the official Majorcan
residence of the Spanish Royal Family.
The work was undertaken on behalf of
the King, by Pere Salva who was also
built the Bellver Castle.
The Palace stands opposite the Cathedral, overlooking the
harbour, and although most visitors are impressed with the
S'Hort des Rei Gardens that surround the Palace, many are
then unfortunately disappointed to find that once inside most
of the rooms and corridors actually empty.
Palace Hours:
Summer:
Monday to Friday 10:00 to 18:30
Saturdays: 10:00 to 14:00
Closed Sundays
Winter:
Monday to Friday 10:00 to 14:00
16:00 to 18:00
