Feb 2008 in Mallorca

by petertktan

HI

My friend and I will be in Mallorca from Feb 11-15. Just wondering what we can do in Palma during the off season and we hear there is a festival in Feb in Palma? Anyone knows the dates of this festival? Any recommendations for a place to stay for below 100 Euros? Thanks.

Travel Tips for Palma de Mallorca

Calobra

by Cool-123

This is a beatuiful place. You can either go swimming or have a nice walking. I suggest you spend a day here.

To get there:
You can take the coach arrive at Port De Soller and then take the ferry to Calobra.

This photo and the one above were taken in a little bay on the east side of Formentera. We stopped here for a few hours before setting sail for mainland Spain (See my Spain Page). The water here is wonderful, and there were a number of boats anchored, with their crews wandering on the sandy shore. Just along the beach there are mud pools, where many of the visitors had been enjoying themselves in the greenish, smelly mud!

La Marina, Cala D'Or - not in Palma but in Majorca on the SE coast.
Great service, lovely food - not your usual fish and chips style food Camembert and cranberry sauce and lovely salad. Also do great suckling pig and a salmon with potatoes

La Seu

by al_mary

The Cathedral of Palma, which is
also known locally as La Seu, is
an impressive Gothic style building
that was built over a 300 hundred
year period during the 14th to 17th
Century. Much of the facade was
rebuilt during the 19th Century after
an earthquake destroyed part of its
western front.

La Seu is a landmark of the city, and it will undoubtedly be
the first recognisable landmark that you see on the final
approach before landing at the nearby Son Sant Joan
International airport, and the sight of it from the air never
ceases to take your breath away.

The Cathedral Is Open:
Weekdays 10:00 to 18:00
Saturdays 10:00 to 14:00
Closed Sundays

Placa de la Reina

by starship

At the top of the Avinguda d"Antoni Maura you will find a traffic circle with this lovely fountain in the middle. It is just at the Placa/Plaza de Reina where the Joan Alcover memorial is located. I really couldn't find any information on it other than to tell you that this is where the Tourist Information Office is located at 2 Placa/Plaza de Reina which would be the road just to the top right of the circle.
