The Town hall of Palma
by Klod5
The place of Palma where is the township (in the face, the hotel with the clock), and in its center, a superb millennial olive tree. The vicinities of the Town hall of Palma are a quiet place, close to the small alleys pedestrians. The town hall visits itself, and some exhibitions are presented to the public there sometimes.
Courtyards
by pugwashman
I'm not sure what the deal is about Mallorca and courtyards but down almost every side street you catch glimpses of perfect looking courtyards, with balconies, trellises, vases, wells. Make sure to wander off of the main routes and look through open gates and shutters coz if you don't look you won't find.
There were books and Calendars full of courtyard pictures so I guess it's quite a well established thing, but it seemed very Mallorcan.
Ferries to Palma de Mallorca and back
by russian_yaz
There are 3 different companies that travel to the Balearic Islands and of course Palma de Mallorca, the main city. The companies are:
- Transmediterranea: 2 super fast ferrys, 2 ferrys and one cargo ferry.
- Balearia: 2 super fast ferrys, one fast ferry and 2 ferrys.
- Iscomar: Is more dedicated to cargo and cars but also has one fast ferry
- TurboCat: only goes from Barcelona to Alcudia and Menorca
- MedMar: only departs from Sète (France) to Palma de Mallorca, good for frenchs
In all of these ferries U can take your car with U. Bicyles are for free.
Check out the web page I posted in order to gather more info about these companies.
Porto Cristo
by NunoF
Porto Cristo was formely known as Cala de Manacor, and received the actual name in 1912 in commemoration of an old tradition according to which an image of Christ was landed at the cove in 1260.
Near Porto Cristo we can find the Caves of El Drac and the Coves of Els Hams.
Explore Historical Palma
by amapola66
Palma's historical part of town goes back to 16th/17th century. In the maze of shaded and very narrow and beautiful streets, it can be easy to get a little lost ; )
There is that kind of spooky vibe that comes with really old buildings, a feeling of the thousands of souls that must have walked these tiny streets over bygone centuries.
It doesn't have the dark, slightly intimidating at times, feel of Barcelona old town though, it feels safe.
I am always happy when wandering this part of Palma.
