More about Gran Santa Ponsa Apartments
fantastic gran santa ponsa
Me,wife and our 4 year old have just spent a week over half term staying at the gran santa ponsa, this place is great if you want to chill by the pool because the kids club run by mari is fantastic. She looks after the kids nearly all day and still runs alot of the entertainment for both the kids and adults in the evening. This woman has so much patience and energy it was a pleasure to get to know this lady during the week especially as our daughter took a real shine to her.The apts were a tad small but we didn`t spend much time there apart from sleeping, the apt we had a great view of the pool. All the staff were really really friendly and helpful, the apts were cleaned regularly. The beach is only a 5 min walk away and has a great view out to sea.Santa Ponsa itself is not a big place so it dosn`t get too busy, plenty of good eating places i would try Crocodillos it was very good.RICH,HAZEL AND ERRIN
Good Weather basic apartments
We have just come back from the Gran Santa Ponsa apartments they are very basic and lacking in storage space, the bedrooms face onto the main road so they are noisey at night, but does have air con. The reception staff are very friendly and would do anything to help. The apartments are a 10-15 min walk to the centre of Santa ponsa, we went up the hill and pass Macdonalds and took a right turn and it was like being in Malaguf, noisey and drunk people in the streets.
The entertainment for little kids is good, and Mary who is the entertainment works hard. The Pool is very good and is cleaned daily. The hotel as a whole is very clean, the maids do a wonderful job. SUN BEDS NEED TO BE AN EARLY RISER TO GET ONE !!!!!!
Santa ponsa itself is quiet and we struggled to find many decent places to eat, we ventured to Malaguf and enjoyed a wide range of meals.
The beaches are lovely and the sea is clean and safe for the children apart from the jelly fish that have been on Malaguf beach. We have older children and it was far to quiet for them, not enough going on.We visited Western water park which was the best one, we enjoyed the sea lion show, diving show it broke the day up. We would not book again to santa ponsa.
staff were great!
just arrived back from a great week at the gran santa ponsa apartments in santa ponsa Majorca, had a great week, the hotel was nice and clean and the apartments although basic were quite spacious, we stayed in apartment no 342 on the 3rd floor, the only downfall is the bedrooms back onto a busy road and there is a supermarket directly over the road which seems to have deliveries all night long so we diddn't seem to get much sleep. The staff are very helpful, Mary the entertainer seems to be there 247 running the kids club and also the entertainment on an evening, Adele one of the bar staff is very nice and a laugh a minute, as are the other staff, overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would definately go here again
We stayed in the Gran Santa Ponsa in July for 2 weeks. We were very impressed with the place specially the facilities they have for kids.
Apartments are basic but very clean. Maids clean every day except Wednesday & Sunday. Beds are changed each day as well as towels. Apartments are given a really good going over by maids.
Facilities for kids are brilliant and Mary is fantastic with them. She remembers each of their names and get them all involved in what is going on.
The staff are very friendly and will help you as best they can and no job is too much trouble for them. My 2 girls (10 & 2) didn't want to go home they enjoyed themselved that much. We'd such a great time we've booked it for 2008 already.
You have to try Mary's paelle which she makes on a Wednesday. Its lovely. There is entertainment each night bar a saturday night.
I would highly recommend this property for a holiday.
Great place to stay
We stayed in the Gran Santa Ponsa from the 22nd Sept to the 29th Sept. The weather was great except for 1 day and 1 night. (had an electrical storm). We were very surprised with the Hotel as there were not too many other comments for this hotel saying there was evening entertainment, all day kids club and very friendly staff.
The location of the Gran Santa Ponsa was really great. We had thought from previous reviews that we were some distance from the main nightlife, restaurants, shops, supermarkets etc, but all were quiet near with some on our door step. We stayed in a ground floor appartment, number 31. It was very quiet and very near the entrance, ideal for anyone with kids or maybe some mobility problems. The rooms in the comlpex were basic, but clean and there were clean sheets and towels every couple of days. There was one room with 2 single beds and there were 2 couches in the seating area. The couches were comfy and the beds were too. There is no TV in the room and we didnt avail of one either, choosing to spend most of our time out of the room. There is a TV in the bar area with Sky Digital.
The bar area was great with plenty of seats, including couches. We didnt eat in the hotel, although a number of people did seem to eat there everyday. The food looked ok. The bar staff were really nice like all the staff and there is waiter service all day and night.
The pool was really great and there was loads of seating space around the pool. There is an indoor and outdoor pool table, dart board, internet, table tennis, amusement games, small kiddies park.
We were approx 5 mins from the beach, depending on speed of walking. There was a really good supermarket directly across the road and there was an even better one when you came out of the hotel, up to the right. We fell in love with the ice-cream parlour on the same road as our hotel, you will pass it on the way to the shops, restaurants, beach and bars.
At the end of the road, take a left when leaving the hotel, there is the main taxi rank and bus stop. We didnt use the taxis, although they seemed cheap. We did use the buses, 102 express to Palma city costs €2.60 one way and then also used the 104 to Magaluff, which cost €1.35 one way. They usually go every 30 mins. Appox 20mins to Palma and 10mins to Magaluff. Palma was lovely, but we didnt like Magaluff at all. Its not a patch on Santa Ponsa. We did visit the KATMANDU in Magaluff, dont waste your money on visiting this!!! Its far too expensive. Save your money for a nice meal.
There were alot of great places to eat in Santa Ponsa, Fat Sams (a little expensive, but big portions and great dessert), The Watering Hole (good food and prices ok), Mrs Murphys Kitchen (in the Irish area, about 15min walk from hotel. Food was good, but one or two of the staff need house training).
We didnt use the beach, dont like the sand, but it is really nice and worth a visit in the evening for the sunset.
We did walk up the 1000 steps (500 up and down). Its worth it for the view, not the sore legs.
We were really happy with our holiday. Will definitly return at some point.
P.S. Mary (the entertainment person) is mad!!! She is such a jolly person and the kids loved her.
Excellant place to saty, great value for money
Hi, Me and my wife, our daughter, her partner and their 16 month old son (our grandson) stayed at the Gran Santa Ponsa for a week from the 29 Sept 2007. We had two x one bedroom aparts on the first floor (Nos 125 and 126). I had requested (via email 1 week before we went), first floor, pool view and 'quiet' rooms away from the main road and bar, and we got exactly what we'd asked for. The aparts that back on to the main road can suffer from traffic noise and some are also directly above the pool bar area so there would be music and noise until 12 midnight,
if that was an issue, eg young kids etc?
The Gran SP are in a great location only 5 mins walk to the prom and beach, and also the restaurants, bars and shops that line the prom and nearby area. It is about 10 mins along the prom (flat) to the start of the street known as the 'Irsh Quarter' which has a good range of lively bars, music, cocktails etc. A 10 minute walk in the other direction, up the incline (slight hill) brings you to 'The Square' with more small bars, cafes, and shops. The are live shows on in the square most nights (free), tribute shows (Westlife, Abba etc) and other entertainment from about 9.30pm. If the walk is too much you can get a bus from in front of the Plaza Hotel at the end of the prom. Taxi's are cheap and regular from the same place on the large round-about.
As for the Gran SP aparts themselves they are really good for families or couples. They have a large pool with various parts for different ages etc, e.g. kiddies pool, shallow bit, 1 meter and 2 meter parts, and a fountain in the middle! Plenty of free sun beds, but no matteresses, and you have to pay about 1.50 Euro for a brollie for the day. There is a smallish lounge and pool bar with covered area and seating, breakfast is available and snacks/meals are served throughout the day. We had a few drinks at the bar and prices were reasonable, but we didn't eat there as there are so many v.good restaurants in SP only 5 mins walk from the apartments. The was entertainment on at the bar most nights but we went out and about in the resort, so I can't comment on it other than it did not seam to be more than average?
For Self Catering need there is a good superrmarket directly across the (main) road from the Aparts, and a larger hyper market 5 min walk up the road. Both sell ALL your SC needs, and are cheap and well stocked for cheap water, softr drinks, beer etc at a fraction of the cost in bars and cafes, AND lovely fresh bread and bakery.
The Apartment rooms are very nice, nothing flash but well equipped, bright, and nicely furnished. The living area and kitchenette is smaller than the twin bedroom, which had a fitted wardrobe, two good sized twin beds, dressing table and a digital safe (paid for at reception). The living area had free aircon unit which was very effective, although we did not need it much as it was warm and sunny first week Oct, but not scorching or too hot at night. There are plenty of utensils and crockery for up to 4 people, plus toaster, kettle and micrwavr (free, but have to be requested in advance). Nice modern bathroom with full bath and powerful shower, AND plenty of hot water all day/night.
There was a good sized balcony with table/chairs. ALL rooms overlook the pool area, but those on the ground floor may be dark due to surrounding trees and hedges etc.
The maid service was efficient (but they don't work Sunday or Wednesday). Otherwise towels changed regularly and bedding twice in the week.
All staff at the Gran SP are friendly, polite and helpful, there was a life guard on duty at the pool most of the day and the pool area was always kept clean and tidy. There are NO ball games or rowdy behaviour allowed around the pool or generally in the Apart complex, which is a good thing for families etc, so these really would not suit a group of 'young' people wanting a 18-30's type holiday.... there can stay in Magaluf (10 minutes away by taxi!!!).
Overall we all really liked the Gran SP Aparts and wquld recommend it for a good, no frills, value for money holiday (£199 per adult for 1 wk SC / in 2 aparts).
We also loved the resort of Santa Ponsa itself, it was our first time there (and our first time back to Majorca for a number of years). We were all very impressed with how clean and family friendly the resort is, with a lovely soft sandy beach, and enough variety of facilities to keep you going for a week or two. It is also only 10 mins to Magaluf, Palma Nove and a little further to Palma City, all easily reach by local bus or taxi.
We will certainly look to return to SP in coming years for a family or couples holiday (but we also like to try different places at different times).
PS the Weather was great first week in Oct, except for one shower at night mid week and an hour long rain/thunder storm which quickly cleared.
Ray and family
5 minutes walk to beach
5 minutes walk to beach 2 supermarkets on the doorstep and main nightlife 15 minutes walk away this well equiped spacious clean strictly run apts are ideal for famlies with a good program to keep kids happy and the air con is a great asset .our stay in may was with no problems would stay here again.
Basic but very clean!!!!
Stayed at the GSp first week in September !! Apartments basic but very clean-very impressed!!! Pool area large and tidy also. Hotel staff very friendly!!
Beach in Santa Ponsa very clean and gently shelving water-lots of sunbeds and parasols-good value for 9 euros per day for a couple-handy supermarket opposite beach!!
Good selection of nightlife-quiet or busy as you want-Magaluf only 9 euros in a taxi if you someting a bit livelier! Thoroughly reccommend the restaurant over looking the harbour-excellent food and fantastic views!
Recommended for couples and families!!!
liked the swimming pool
This was the first time we went abroad as a family with teenagers so we didn't really know what to expect. Our first impressions were a very nice looking place, nice and clean,
the reception staff were very friendly.
Our appartment was okay but the kitchen come diner come lounge come sleeping area was quite small but the bedroom was satisfactory.
There is quite a large supermarket close by.
The swimming pool was lovely and spacious but could probably get quite busy in the peak season.
The appartment overlooked the pool and the front had a nice view. While we were there, there was building going on and it started at about 6 in the morning but that might of stopped by now. There was plenty of activities for children.
There was a big beach about 5 minutes walk away it was nice and clean.
The bus service seemed a bit confusing.
We liked the Western Water Park and Aqua Marine the best.
I would probably go there again one day.
Recommend, Great for Kids
Myself, my husband and 3 year old son stayed in these apartments at the beginning of September. We were very happy with them. I would recommend them for anyone with children. There is a great kids entertainer called Mary, she entertained the kids every day and evening, there was a kids club from 11 till 1 and again from 2 till 4, which my wee fella loved. There was different entertainment every night, parrot show, bingo, tricks of the mind, karoake, bar b q. The pool was lovely, quite big. The apartments were nice too, didn't have to pay for air conditioning. The supermarket was straight accross the road. There is a short walk to the beach and to the pubs.

Rock Bars and Clubs
Is there any good rock nightclubs/bars in Palma planning on a weekend in Palma with the girls, gem :)
RE: Rock Bars and Clubs
Hi...on my nightlife tips on the mallorca travel page U'll find some more info. The "Motown" is very good with rock & roll music all night long. Also in Joan Miro avenue U can find several clubs with alternative music, Gomila is the most well known...good luck!
