Hi
Im visiting Palma (on my own)in a few weeks and Im quite surprised that there arent any backpacking hostels on the island to speak of... (a hangover from the mass package tourism from the 70's I guess??)
Ive ruled out the Youth Hostel as its too far from the city centre.
Ive heard 3 places being mentioned...Terramar & Apuntadores & Tierramar.... anyone been to any of these??
I want to spend as little as poss on accomodation- around E25 per night if I can.
Anyone know where is cheap & central for the city?

Actually there are not many "backpacking hostels" anywhere in Spain. Did you search for "hostales" or "pensiones"? I'm not familiar with Palma, but these are the usual budget options and there should be a few in any Spanish city. Hostal is a budget hotel, pension is more like a guesthouse.
However, finding something for 25€ per night in high season, and central, will be not easy. Best of luck!
The weather here is perfect every day. Its about 80 degrees all the time. Even when it rained somehow the sun managed to emerge and make it a good day to drink and party ;). Everyday there was great all I did was drink and party for 7 days straight. I'm talking about every day 24/7
Canyamel was a nice, relaxing course. It had some great scenery and was not that difficult. We lucked out and got some great weather. While we did golf during the week, the course was also not very crowded. We never found ourselves waiting during a hole.
Some excursions by bus that are planned with guides allow you to know the hidden places and the places you cannot miss.
You will know lots of info about the places you will visit.
The guides were really good and pleasant people.

get the train from palma station to soller
spend time walking round the village good church and some excellant shops
then take the tram down to port soller and enjoy the harbour with its yatchs
the trams are x san francisco street cars
good resturants here
La Lonja (el catedral de Mallorca)
This is a beautiful cathedral, complete with stained glass windows. Mass is held every Sunday morning. Even if you don't speak Spanish or Mallorquin (mass is given in both), or are not Catholic, it is worth stopping in for mass just to take part in a very important part of Spanish life.
