Appartment was clean the maids came every other day to change the sheets and clean. the staff r lovely and friendly so r the reps. Some lovely pubs and places to eat in sa coma all very family orrintated. The sportmans is good place to eat n drink lovely people. The white lion does all home cooked food thats a really nice place. I would advise anyone to go brillant hoilday.

The bougie is brill!

This was our first holiday abroad with children,so we were a little apprehensive but the bouganvilla was the best holiday ever. The food was good everywhere and cheaper in town, which was a nice walk or free train bus ride away. The kids loved the swimming pools and entertainment and the place was so clean and tidy. Our rooms were cleaned everyday. There wasnt any air-conditioning in the rooms and you did need it and it was quite expensive to hire them but we knew this in advance and was advised by a previous review to go to local supermarket and buy one for half price and just leave it there which we did.. BRILLIANT!!
This was a fantastic holiday for families so much so we have booked to go in 2006.

loved the pool

by A TripAdvisor Member

just came back from a week at the bouganvilla in sa coma.myself and my husband with four children;ages,15,14,10 and 9.The main pool is a fantastic sight and a great focal point.Great for adults and children of all ages. There are other smaller pools for younger children. The only downside to the pool is that it is absolutely freezing when you first get in!even with temperatures in the 80's.We were staying on a half board basis and couldn't find fault with the food at all.Breakfast time had the typically Full English as well as a continental choice. The dinner time choice was excellent, even for children and the restaurant staff are very friendly. We were in studio rooms and the beds aren't the comfiest in the world, but they were clean.very small shower cubicles.Didn't particularly like the entertainment in the Big Top.It is the same as being on a holiday camp in England, and i would go along with the "Butlins" theme that some people have suggested. Also the prices at the big top bar are nothing short of extortionate.I think most people were buying drinks from the shop and taking them over.can't say i blame them. The hotel itself is a little way out of the main resort. It takes about 20 minutes to walk.(or take the free bougie train!)The resort centre is only quite small, not really for those looking for something really lively. All in all a pleasant place, and if you are into British style holiday camps then this will be the place for you.If you prefer your holiday in Spain to be on the more authentic side, then do not book the bouganvilla.

pools were great

by A TripAdvisor Member

Just got back from the Bouganvilla. Had a fantastic holiday. The rooms themself were a bit on the small side and it was fun trying to have a shower in a small cubicle with a shower curtain stuck to you but on the whole the holiday was great.
If you can I would hire a car which we did via the internet on a site called [--] and got a picasso for about £120 for the week. The drive from the airport was about 1 hour and was really easy to find. We had a few days by the pool which was great. Our 3 year old daughter loved it and never wanted to get out. There was also a kids play area with a slide etc. At night there was a kids disco (the entertainment team were great...very bubbly) at the Big Top and then entertainment right through till just after 11. With having the car we explored the Island a little and went to a great waterpark in Malaga called the Western Waterpark which was great for kids. We went to Portocristo the the Caves of Drac which was fab, visited a lovely beach in Cala D'or called Platja Esmaralda and another lovely beach called Cala Mesquida. I would defintely recommend a car to see some of the lovely Island. When eating out in Sa Coma we visited OASIS....lovely steaks, good wine and a bouncy castle and slide to keep the kids entertained. Had a great time and would definitely go back but get a bigger room.

Fantastic Family Complex

by A TripAdvisor Member

Have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Hotel Bouganvilla. It was the first time we've been arboard with my 5 year old son so we weren't sure what to expect from him or the holiday. I must say the hotel complex was fantastic, it really made our holiday something special for all of us. Great kids clubs, great pool, and the hotel restaurant food was lovely, the best we've ever had when we've been aboard. My son and partner would have at least 5 courses every night they ate there!

We went self catering so the room facilities were basic but the essentals were there. The rooms were very clean on our arrival and were then cleaned 5 times a week after that. We were situated very close to the big top which could be very loud late at night but we knew the noise would stop at mightnight. We were so exhausted at bed time we didn't evern notice most of the time. The entertainment in the big top was good, excellent for the kids even though my son spent most of his time running around the sand pit!! We're still finding sand in our washing yet!

Anyway I would recommend this place to anyone with young family as it caters for everything you need, it's a bit away from the beach but the "boogie train" as we called it ran every day from the hotel to the beach (expect Sunday).

I want to go back !!

Just got back from the bougie ,I had read the reviews before travelling, and was alittle concerned about , what the accomadation was like.
We need not have worried, the bougie was lovely plenty of things to do there was a childrens club which we did not use as all our children are teenagers! .The tascabar was ok but a little expensive ,we ate in sa coma most nights ,the best places we found was the sportsmans bar ,jj's, the kings head which also did entertainment after ten o clock usually a tribute act or karoke .Sa coma was a quite resort , plenty of shops and bars the usual things There places to change your money which cheaper tht is cheaper than at the resort ,the one we used was over the road from the brittania bar. the boogie train runs 10 till 6 with an hour break we think between 1 and2 oclock .The places we ate at also included the hippodrome and the new inn . both places we only used once in two weeks places we visited was the caves of drac BRILLIANT! ,we went there on the local bus very cheap and punctual , the bus stops in Sa Coma is outside the brittania bar.
We also went to the PIRATES show that was fantastic arranged through the reps on site . we found the boogie staff polite and helpful the reps we did not have much to do with , the we did speak we found to be sarcastic the night entertainment on site we felt was poor , the maids came in every other day changed the sheets twice in two weeks there was no real need to reserve sunbeds we saw sunbeds free at 10/11 oclock but it was september! you can hire a safety box in room for 54 euros you get ten back when you return the key dont bother with the tele you get cnn a music channel in dubbed german bbc world not worth it 14 euros a week I would go back to the boogie we really enjoyed it!

'Bougie' review

by TripAdvisor Member MrDave

Swimming pool fantastic, food @ 'La Tasca' restaurant/takeaway on-sight excellent value & lots of it. Maid service good & staff very helpful. We stayed with 2 boys(aged 13 & 9), lots on offer for them to do & entertainment staff energetic all day.
Need to be aware that most of the 'trips' available are in the La Palma area, which is approx 1 hour drive away(i.e. 'Pirates', water parks etc). Very good bus service from Sa Coma for Porto Cristo & Caves De Draches.

butlins in the sun

by A TripAdvisor Member

After a brilliant flight with My Travel, our spirits were running high. These soon disappeared as soon as we arrived at the appartments with a 35 minute wait in a queue in the blistering sun to check in at reception. Our first impressions were not good. We had booked this accommodation because of the pool which was supposed to be the biggest in majorca. This is rubbish and wouldn't matter if it was, because the water was so cold the children wouldn't go in. ( aged 1 and 4). The rooms are incredibly tiny. It's a good job our children are small because 2 adults and 2 teenagers would never fit into these rooms. The entertainment was appalling and became funny it was so bad. The complex is full of unsavoury youths, although we did meet a lot of nice families. The restaurant serves average food (at best). If you want to find a nice restaurant in Sa Coma, then you will struggle because obviously most people want to eat British food with bisto gravy (like you would!!) . We found one nice Spanish restaurant called Hermanos Jimenez. The germans have got it right with their extremely luxurious looking hotels and we spent a fun day at their all-inclusive children's park behind the main supermarket. Oh and expect to walk to the beach and back unless you are prepared for a long wait for the courtesy train (tractor). It's a good job the complex was not running at full capacity otherwise I would have gone home!! Could have been worse, could have booked for two weeks! Will never book a package holiday after this experience again!

Reps shows galore

by A TripAdvisor Member

Had a fab holiday great for the kids, ours were age 1-,4 and 7 years.nice complex. Pools freezing! Hotel food okay, but you must try the ROYAL OAK{OPPOSITE CABRABO} huge portions, nice staff, fantastic value for money. Free train in to sa coma town, and beach. Nights at the big top were mainly rep shows {very boring after a while} pro shows very good, but only 3 out of 7 nights. reps galore for other 4 . rooms very clean but small i would recommend a 2 bedroom apart as we had 2 girls and a 16 month old , balcony very small. overall we had a great time kids loved it plenty to do for them

Funny I can find a Palma page but not one for Majorca so I'll have to use this instead.

I spent the Summer of 1994 working in the Bouganvilla in Santa Ponsa (in the photo) as a children's entertainer - you'd think I'd have learned my lesson after au pairing in France a few years before ;-)

Camping on the Costa del Sol

by Moorsey

Anyone know of any caravan/camping sites on the Costa del Sol between Malaga and Gibraltar for 2 to 3 nights stay? Thank you in advance.

Re: Camping on the Costa del Sol

by Carmela71

there are quite a few, I know two good in Marbella (CAbopino and Bouganvilla), and outside Fuengirola there is one famous too.

The only thing is that sometimes in peak periods of summer, they can be booked, but normally you always find something.

I know there is another one in Estepona and another one in Manilva. If oyu wnat i send you addreses
