Ibiza It's not all crowded beaches and heaving masses of people enjoying themselves! This little bay is somewhere not too far from Ibiza town, and was very popular, unspoilt and not too crowded.

I'm considering a short solo trip within the next few weeks. Can anyone provide any information on crime in the area (pickpockets, etc.) as well as the safety factor for a young woman traveling alone? Thanks! ~VR
I was in my honeymoon in Mallorca last year and it was great, the island it's beautiful!!! It's safe, I didn't see or heard about any theft.
My husband and I lived in Palma for a year once, and also traveled all around the island from time-to-time. Loved it! The only crime we experienced was someone stole the two seats off our locked bicycles one night. There are pickpockets, but no more than in any city, and we didn't have any encounters. I went out by myself alone plenty for shopping, my Spanish & aerobics classes, fresh market, bike-riding, etc., and no problems. I would just avoid rather deserted streets at night, like you probably would anywhere, don't wear a lot of bling, and don't leave things unguarded at the beach. Have a great time!
Hello...all the answers are accurrate. As in any other place U must be carefull with your personal belongings, try not to use to many jewelry and mosto f all don't walk on dark un-safe places in the outskirts of the city. I've been living in Palma already 2 years in one of the worst considered neighborhoods and nothing has happend until now. If U've more questions feel free to email me, also check out my Mallorca travel pages, for sure U'll find lot of info there toghether with pics...good luck!
Ilargitxo, I think she is concerned, because she's a single woman traveler, and when I travel alone (usually on business), I also like to know the risks of a place and which neighborhoods into which I should not venture. There is indeed some petty thievery throughout Spain, particularly in the bigger cities -- and I used to read about it in the Spanish newspapers. But it's no worse than anywhere else. And, BTW, we've had far more incidents of petty thievery/pickpocketing and such, in foreign countries than we've ever had living in the US. Why don't you come visit someday?
And I live in Palma de Mallorca already for 2 years and 4 months and I say that is not dangerous but there are pickpockets and small thieves that always look for tourists that don't pay attention to their personal things....

So U're a beer lover? Ok, be ready because here U'll have more than 100 different beers where to choose from. And I'm not lying. Lorien is the name of the bar. As anyone that has read Tolkien, knows what is that. The place is decorated with all kind of posters of different passages of Tolkien books. The music is great for celta and new age music lovers. No TV so no futboll fans, only beer and Tolkien fans. The place is small so better go early to catch a table or a chair on the sweep and taste the woderfull beers that wait fro U each night. Casual
We went into this restaurant for two reasons:
1) we were hungry
2) it was full of locals
They do various set menus which include wine or beer.
It was very lively and all a bit chaotic but we just went with the flow and thoroughly enjoyed it, the food certainly didn't disappoint
We had some excellent fish soup, followed by grilled fish with vegetables and potatoes.
We even had dessert, a nice lemon and chocolate mousse, mmm! Fish soup - delicious.
After seeing many cathedrals throughout Europe, the Palma cathedral is about what you would expect. The best part of our tour to the cathedral for me, was the surrounding area. It wasn't just a congested pedestrian area, there was some nice, quiet back alleys that were quite enjoyable to walk around. There were also numerous fountains to sit and relax near. Having it to do over, I would skip the cathedral and just enjoy the surrounding area.
One advice: always read before you go. I’ve been in Parc de la Mar, found it pleasant, but only later I learned why and how it was made. Maybe I would have a different approach if knowing that:
“Until the 1960s the sea reached up to the city walls, providing the perfect reflection for the cathedral. When the building of a new road changed all that, an artificial lake was constructed to reproduce the effect. The park around the lake is now a popular weekend and summer spot, with several cafes, outdoor concerts, a mural donated by Joan Miro and an art gallery in the vaults of the old city walls. Sit beneath the palm trees gazing up at the cathedral and try to imagine the travellers of days gone by arriving at this same spot from the sea by boat.”
