More about Hotetur Lagomonte

lagomonte was brilliant!!

by TripAdvisor Member essexsue

We read alot of reviews about this hotel some good and some bad, and we were quite worried about what the holiday was going to be like. But it was just simply perfect from day one, the food was lovely and plenty of it and it was always well cooked and hot. The choices were good, okay by the end of the second week we were a bit bored with it, there was always something that you liked...salads, fresh fruit, pasta choices cheese and biscuits and desserts.

The drinks were not watered down as we had read on some reviews just simply not as strong, as they were locally produced. The staff worked so hard all day long they wouldn't have had time to water them down!!
The hotel was spotless, it was cleaned morning, noon and night. Our room was spotless too as was the pool area, cleaned twice a day.

The sunbed situation was a pain not enough sunbeds for the amount of people, but it was august the busiest time of the year.

The brochure does not do the hotel justice, the entertainmet team worked all day long to entertain all ages. Our holiday exceeded our expectations and we would recommend it as we had a fantastic holiday.

fantastic hotel for children

by TripAdvisor Member sherrylee

I visited lagomonte hotel in june 2005, been back 2 days and missing it already. went with my four kids they had a great time although everyone agreed the pool was too small for such a large hotel, and was hard to spot the children when in the pool. Entertainment was excellent for children and adults alike. reps were fantastic. Food was good but i have to say in comparison to all my other all-inclusive holidays(in alcudia) there was not enough variety. the hotel was very clean and well maintained and the staff were very helpful and friendly, also it was a big help having english speaking staff on reception. one down side to it was at night it was very noisy even early hours with people leaving the bar area and entertainment with no thoughts to the other guests and were not reprimanded in any way about this (and this happened most night's!) Overall though i would recommend this hotel to familys with older children as they will have a great time.

Excellent hotel and location

This was our first ALL INCLUSIVE holiday and we had a great time. Saying that we would not go AI again - no disresepect to the Travel Co./Hotel/Location only our AGE. We are 54 & 50 and we like to explore and I (Tija) always wanted to try an AI holiday - it was great - the hotel was spotless - food catered for EVERYONE - and this is very difficult with the amount of people in hotel. Not at any time did we see anyone drunk, the children were monitored and there were first aiders around the pool/hotel for safety.

I guess we were lucky - it was middle of September and the season was coming to an end but if I had a young family I would not hesitate to go back to the Lagomonte. I would visit this hotel as it was lovely but as I mentioned before I would not go AI.

Thankyou Lagomonte for a wonderful one-week of heaven.

well what can i say

by A TripAdvisor Member

After reading the reviews I was worried about going to the Lagamonte but deceided to go with an open mind, well most of my worries were confirmed within the first two days. To get a sun bed you had to be up at 7.00am to get your chair with your towel on ready for when they unlocked the beds at 9.00am, then you go in for breakfast which is chips with everything. the pool which is very small and can no way fit all the guests to the hotel in, it was closed 7times in three days due to parents letting young children swim in the pool with no underware on and as a result there was more than lilos floating in the pool! The snack bar is fine if you like sausage and chips 24/7. Flys and ants were everywhere including in the wardrobes. Meals were o.k but not much variety same things every night. The reception staff were not very helpful, after arriving on the sat night we discovered there was not a t.v in the room as advertised so we went down and asked for one, after being promised one every day it finally appeared 12 days into our holiday, 2 days before we came home and then it didn't work. the only praise I can give for the Lagomonte is to the entertainment staff, Neerly and her team were brilliant much too good for what I can only discribe as THE HOTEL FROM HELL.

Loved everthing but the fire!

duty free goods

by alhol

I am going on a Med cruise.. Can I buy 200 cigs duty free on board plus, say, 2000 tax paid in shop in Palma Majorca ,will this be ok with UK customs.

Re: duty free goods

by leics

Although there are no official maximum for most (not all) EU countries bringing more than 3200 cigarettes is likely to mean you get questioned. Spain is ok for up to 3200.

Hmmm....I don't think you will be able to buy tax-free goods on a trip within the EU. All tax-free selling/buying ended some (5 or more?) years ago for travels within the EU, be it by air or sea.

Re: duty free goods

by leics

'Duty-free' is just a shorthand phrase we use in the UK..a hangover from when such things were really 'duty-free'. Cigarettes are much cheaper in most EU countries than in the UK, but obviously not 'duty-free' as such.

Re: duty free goods

by alhol

Question Can I bring back both 200 duty free and also an amount purchased in an EU country?

Re: duty free goods

by leics

If you are flying within the EU there is really no such thing as 'duty-free', as Nhoolb has accurately pointed out. But cigarettes are generally cheaper in other EU countries.

The limits remain the same. Apart from a few countries, you are allowed 3200 cigarettes from withi the EU. In total. Where you buy them is irrelevant, as long as it's in an EU country for which 3200 is allowed. The website I linked gives you accurate information.

Theoretically, there is no maximum but in practice you are more likely to be stopped and questioned if you bring in loads.

>>>>> Where you buy them is irrelevant, as long as it's in an EU country for which 3200 is allowed <<<<<<

I would like to add (from that same website):

>>> The goods are duty and tax paid in the EU country where they were acquired <<<

Again: I seriously doubt that tax-free goods (cigarettes in this case) will be sold/can be bought on a Mediterreanean cruise.

Re: duty free goods

by taurean_traveller

When we travelled we were told that you cannot buy cigaretts in "Duty free" if you were going to another EU country.

This applied both in London, going out and Greece and Spain coming back.

The 3200 limit has to be bought in a supermarket or like.
Thats what we were told

Re: duty free goods

by leics

You can buy cigarettes in the 'duty-free' shops in the airport, but you will see two separate prices (usually two separate display areas): one for within-EU travel and one for outside-EU travel.

The shop will not sell you the real duty-free cigarettes (or anything else) because they will ask for your boarding card.

So of course you can buy your 3200 in the airport shops if you like. Cypriot airports at least actually have a larger-than-large pack specifically for this, with notices underlining the 3200 allowance for travelling to the UK from EU countries.

So where you buy them in any EU country really is irrelevant (apart from those which have a lower limit). They will not, however, be 'duty-free' in the correct sense of the word.
