More about Iberostar Suites Hotel Jardin del Sol
A relaxing week at the Jardin del Sol
My partner and I have just returned from a week's stay at the Jardin del Sol Suites and Spa. All the rooms have amazing views over Santa Ponsa bay.
We were lucky and stayed in a Terrace Suite on the 5th floor. The suite was fantastic, although the lighting could have been better. It had a separate bedroom with twin beds, then a room with a toilet and a large shower cubicle with 4 side power jets, as well as an overhead one. Next to that was an 'open plan' bathroom with a huge jacuzzi which was great, especially after a day in the sun. There was also a small dining area and kitchenette with fridge, cooker and sink but only a limited supply of utensils. Next to that was a large seating area where you could sit and watch TV, which surprisingly had about 6 or 7 English speaking channels on it.
The terrace had 2 sunbeds with a small table and also a larger table with 2 chairs. There was also a shower for cooling you down when it got too hot. The sunbeds on the terrace were much comfier than the one's by the pool because they had thick cushions but the beds by the pool didn't have any.
Unfortunately, if you wanted a sunbed by the pool you had to be up early to reserve them with your towels. Sometimes there wasn't a bed available so we sunbathed on our terrace and then went down to the pool later in the afternoon. The pool itself is brilliant because it is heated slightly so it takes away that initial shock when getting into the water.
The food on the whole was pretty good but a bit repetitive. Every night there was pasta and rice but no roast joints such as beef or turkey although there were grilled meats.
The entertainment in the hotel was only occasional. One night there was a Tina Turner impersonator on and she was quite good but most nights we went to the square (which is only about a 5 minute walk) and there was a different live tribute act on there each night in the open air.
Not far from the square there is an Irish bar called The Auld Triangle which had a good singer/guitar player on every night who performed a wide variety of music. If you like Irish bars there are plenty of them about as well as English, Scottish and of course Spanish ones.
There is no beach by the hotel but there is a small one about 15 minutes walk away or the main one is about 20 minutes walk.
Overall we had a good relaxing week and would highly recommend the Jardin del Sol.
Stayed in the Jardin Del Sol in August of 2004. My first impression of the hotel was amazing. The rooms are very spacious and clean i had a very large terrace and a jacuzzi bath with views out to the bay of Santa Ponca. The staff in the hotel were very good. The food was out standing and the service in the restaurant was great. I loved my stay here and i would not hesitate to return in the future.
What a Place Fabulous
Great hotel. Everything was first class. The rooms were great and we just booked the basic junior suite. The bath is great ask for bucket of ice and wine. We had plastic glasses and had a bath almost every night................bliss
Great facilities in the hotel we wer B & B but the restaurants and bars were within 50 - 100 meters from the hotel and every one was better than the next.
Stop for a drink in Bar Lucinda definately recomended situated at the back gate of the hotel.
Staff at the hotel were very nice and could not do enough to help with anything. Hotel could do with some more entertainment only once a week but the Square is great 500 yards away all the entertainment you want with Live Tribute Bands every night.
We will definately go back to Jardin Del Sol We enjoyed every minute
Our first impressions were Wow!!! The view from the hotel rooms are stunning, looking out across the bay. We asked for a top floor room and we were very pleased. The room had a separate bedroom, large wardrobe and a safe, the separate lounge had a comfortable settee, tv, and behind folding doors, a fridge, crockery and cutlery, and you can hire a kettle from reception. There is a shower room with toilet and the most amazing jaccuzi that is situated between the shower room and lounge, so you can soak away with a gin and tonic looking out over the bay, bliss!!! My husband is a fussy eater, but no need to worry, there is plenty of choice at both breakfast and dinner, try the quiche for breakfast, it's yummy. A good choice for dinner with at least 5 different meats, and the chick pea soup is lovely. We visited the Spanish square several evening, about 5 mins walk, where there was nightly entertainment, but it does get rather noisy, so we visited the irish bar across the road, with live irish music, great!! The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, we broke the safe one day and reception had someone to our room within 10 mins to repair it. We will be returning to the Jardin Del Sol for sure.
I stayed in the Jardin del Sol between 2nd and the 12th September 2007. On arrival, I was welcomed at the reception with a refreshing drink. I was also upgraded from a junior suite to a senior terrace suite. As a single traveller, I usually receive the rooms which are not so pretty, but this was not the case. I had a marvellous room, with a jacuzzi, shower with hydrojets, and a very big terrace. The room (1515) was just above the kitchen, it means that sometimes I was waken up at 4 AM by the personnel starting to prepare the breakfast. Not every day, lucky me. The breakfast buffet was large, with a large choice of everything. The quality of the food was good. The wellness center is very good equipped, and the personnel very profesionnal. The bar is at the poolside and is very nice in the evening to enjoy a last drink, but as usuall those places are very expensive. What i liked very much is the fact that children under 15 years are not allowed. The personnel is friendly and helpfull especially at the reception.
It was a nice hotel.
Me and my partner stayed at the Jardin Del Sol Suites in Santa Ponsa between 19th June and 3rd July 2007 on Half Board. All we can say is WOW!!! What a great hotel!
Upon arrival, you enter a nice reception area on the 8th floor which is the top floor of the hotel. I have to echo the comments made by other reviewers by stating that the views over the bay from this hotel are stunning! You have to see it to believe it!
We requested a Senior Suite for this hotel and stayed on the 8th floor. Upon entering the hotel room we were impressed by the size. Our suite had a separate bedroom upon entering the room with 2 single beds pushed together. There was a large wardrobe area to store our clothes and a digital safe which you could rent for around £13 euros a week.
Next was the bathroom area with an impressively large jacuzzi. You could lay in the jacuzzi and gaze out over Santa Ponsa Bay as it's positioned centrally in the room...perfect! The bathroom area had a large shower area too.
The main living area had a small kitchenette, table and 2 chairs, a separate desk and chair, sofa/bed, digital TV and coffee table.
However, our favourite area was the large L-shaped balcony we had. As i've stated already, the views from this hotel are stunning and you couldn't help but just stand or sit outside and be mesmerised. Incidentally, all hotel rooms have bay views. Looking out over the bay you'll see some fab boats and yachts. To your left is Santa Ponsa Beach (15 min walk from the hotel)
The swimming pool area is very nice with a large pool and outdoor jacuzzi. There are numerous comfortable sun loungers to use but be aware that a lot of these had towels on them early in the morning without anyone using them. Unfortunately, there are still selfish people out there! Bathing towels could be gained from Reception by leaving a 10 euro per towel deposit.
There's a pool bar for refreshments too. If you want to cool off in the Med, access is quite easy from some rocks leading down into the sea from different points.
The restaurant in the hotel is large and has a great selection of food to keep your stomach content. The staff in the restaurant (and overall hotel) are fantastic! Very attentive, friendly and efficient. Try to get a table outside so you can look out over the bay as you eat.
In summary, we highly recommend this hotel and will be going back next year. Please note that children under the age of 14 are not permitted.
Very good but lacks finesse
Room well used with worn bedspreads and tatty furniture.
Food excellent however dress code very laxed for dinner which spoilt the ambiance. Lovely terrace in the dinning room where all the smokers tried to sit . Towels on sun beds should be monitored like other hotels we've stayed in. Bar had little atmosphere with poor cocktail selection. Yes this was a very good three star hotel not 4.
The area the hotel was situated in was tacky beyond belief
Stayed in this hotel for one week in August. The rooms were lovely, hotel very clean and staff very friendly. I strongly recommend Santa Ponsa as a holiday destination and this hotel as your accommodation. It's a good 10 minute walk to the beach but it's right next to the square which is great for children. I'd definately go back!!!
First time in Mallorca
Some nice features but not what you expect from a 4* hotel at the price they charge. The hotel is in a lovely position and has lovely views accross the Santa Ponca bay. We had a room on the top floor and the view from the balcony was terrific. The room was large and clean but the beds were the most uncomfortable we have ever had in a hotel and the furniture in the lounge area was like a 2* apartment. The jacuzzi bath in the room and the power shower were good but the towels lacked any fluff and the tray of complimentary soaps etc was not replenished, despite our request, and only lasted 3 days. There is no tea/coffee maker in the room. The balconies have a superb "glass" screen so you can see the view when sitting down but lack any privacy as the side wall is only 4ft high. The pool area is nice and the pool is excellent but as over 50% of guests are German there is the usual towel problem on sun beds, made worse by the limited number of beds and lack of any hotel supervision. WE had to go to the beach 2 days at a cost of 9 Euros as all sunbeds were taken, Paguera is recommended for this. Breakfast was an excellent hot and cold buffet. The hotel has no car park and on street parking means there is often a 200yard walk back to the hotel but the main problem is the parking by other guests and our car was bumped at least twice by other cars attempting to park so ensure you have taken the hire cars option of no excess payment
Don't Tell Everyone
This hotel was superb. ALL of the staff were friendly and professional. The food was excellent. The rooms were quiet and clean. We were upgraded to an Executive Suite. We had a jacuzzi in the room and an unosbtructed view of the sea and boats moored just outside the harbour.
I agree with some of the other comments though and sympathise with the person who had a noisy room over the kitchen - we didn't but wouldn't have like it if we had. Air conditioning was not very effective but it did work to some degree. We learnt to leave ours on all day by leaving the spare key card in and taking the other with us. We agree that the towels could do with being bigger and fluffier but these are just niggles. Our miniature bubble baths were also not replaced but we didn't ask for more as we had brought our own. We pre-booked Champagne but only received cheap spanish plonk. This was not down to the Hotel but the Travel Agent which specified Champagne on the booking form. We are taking this up with them.
We did not find any trouble getting a sunbed. We basically joined the Germans and "pre-booked" our sunbeds in the usual way at 8am, went for breakfast and a newspaper and then settled down on our sunbeds about 10am. Everyone was doing the same despite notices asking you not to. There were still sunbeds left over but it was just nice to choose where to sit.
A couple of ducks spent the night in the pool every night. They'd fly in about 7pm. On the last night the female arrived without her mate. She quacked for half an hour then left. If they have returned please could the next Trip Advisor let everyone know the Drake is safe and sound and has returned.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay in this hotel again. Our rep said it was the best in the area when she dropped us off. We would agree. We stayed in a cheaper 3 star hotel last year in the same resort and they just didn't compare.
Just "don't tell everyone" about it otherwise they will all want to go here. Enjoy.

RE: purchase of cigarettes
There are lots of Tobacconists in Mallorca. They are called Tabacos,(Look out for the sign, Dark red and yellow)
Prices are the same in every shop no matter the size.
Benson & Hedges are readily available costing around 30 euro per carton.
At least they were in June of this year. Hopefully they havent risen too much.
