More about Marina Portals
Stayed at Hotel Marina Portals from 10 Sept through 16 Sept. Went with my girlfriend. Room was very small, but clean, with refridgerator. Decent view, could see the sea and mountains. Generally quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Meals were very average (not great, not terrible). Parking was quite scarce. However, the pool was very nice and big, with many sunbeds. Enjoyed staying by the pool every day with wonderful weather, and at nice either went to Palma or to some of the restaurants in Portals Nous - generally pricely, but good. Liked the location - close enough to walk to Portals Nous and a short drive into Palma. Would return again if I come back to Mallorca.
great hotel, but
have just returned for this hotel, which is in a great location for the marina at portus nous, where at night you can peaple watch to your hearts content. My criticism of the hotel are as follows:-
sunbeds are snapped up by 7.00a.m. with towels laid on them and no occupants. Most of the people who saved the beds then went out for the day to palma etc. which ment that if you wanted a lay in you would have to sunbath on a towel on the grass.
mini bars and fridge non existant, when we asked for one we were told that there was only enough for half the rooms and they were gone.
the poolside bar staff are very rude and unhelpfull.
air conditioning in the room is inadequate.
There is no way this Hotel merits a 4 star rating. Very basic amenities and rooms, they don't even fill the mini-bars, mediocre location, average views, scruffy pool area etc. The Marina area itself is superb, fantastic boats, top quality restuarants, lively bars and a very welcoming atmosphere
Room with a View!!
My wife and I wanted somewhere different to stay to celebrate our anniversary - and we found it! We are both fully mobile which I think is critical for this location.
The Hotel is very clean with linen changed every day, beds made, clean towels etc & room cleaned. The pool area was perfectly satisfactory but beds were at a premium - it was the busy August month. The pool was always clean and plenty big enough to cope. Drinks/glass was sensibly banned from the whole of the wet area - no more cut feet for the kids! The bottom bar food was poor in our opinion. Breakfast was good.
Parking at the hotel was limited, but there are street spaces to be found.
The Marina is excellent with really good eating places - lots of choice, but can be very busy so be early or eat late. There are some really good restaurants near the hotel - but you will need to look and find what suits.
Overall very enjoyable for us with a great room, fantastic view and a very happy 2 weeks. We would go back!!
The location itself is very nice but the hotel was a big let down. No way can it be classed as a 4 star hotel. Apart from the nice swimming pool, there were very little facilities. The air conditioning was of poor quality, no security staff and when you see stupid younsters throw bottles of beer at random windows and no one is there to help, that is very worrying and not my idea of a safe and relaxing holiday. Poor barman had to come and sort it out himself! Also you are literally rushed to have your breakfast and the staff are not that pleasant. They just stand there waiting for you to go, or better when you have finished your plate they grab it quickly. Never mind if you wanted a second helping. They also ripped me off with the safe deposit. They never gave it back to me when I handed the key back and when I phoned later to have it they said it was too late and that it's my fault for forgetting to ask for it when I checked out! Of course, they couldn't have reminded me... I reckon that went in the reception guy's pocket. And he shouted at me on the phone! Also my hubby forgot his glasses, they said they'd send them. Over a month later, still nothing. Avoid, they're a bunch of thieves.
Nice quiet time. Room a good size and clean. Eating expensive by marina but others available nearby hotel. Reception staff helpful but bar staff seemed indifferent. approx 30 mins on bus to Palma bus station and costs just 1.15 euros but it does fill up early in day as they get on from palma nova/magaluf further down the coast. A taxi from the airport at night cost 30 euros but only 25 in the day going back.
Really liked this hotel when I stayed for a week. Comfortable, clean, much larger selection of food for breakfast and dinner than other hotels I've been too, large pool, no problems with air conditioning, in quiet area of Mallorca which is great if you don't want to be nearer the wilder (and tackier) parts. The pool tables should be free and the decor needs updating but have no other complaints. Car park is small but we only rented out a car for a day. Bus stop near hotel.
We booked through Thomsonfly from Bournemouth, very cheap and then direct through hotelclub.net and findroomsspain.com, and booked a taxi from Palma airport (£25).
Hotel in quiet location in a normal street in Portals Nous. Not much in the way of restaurants and bars (Lloys was a great English bar)close by. Marine (15 mins walk or taxi EUR5) was expensive for eating and drinking, but what a great sight to see. 1/2 hour walk to Marine Land.
Large (deep) pool and childrens pool, just right for the number of people in the hotel. In-frequent entertainment and would have liked more.
Reception and utility staff (cleaning), extremely pleasant and helpful, especially when we wanted to change rooms and ask directions. However, the pool bar and bar staff were very rude and everything seemed too much trouble -when you spend your holiday round the pool-you'll want them to be a least polite. Restaurant Manager and waiter staff also polite and helpful.
We had a two room apartment and for 2 adults and 2 kids was great, and had two balconies over-looking the pool. It was clean and the maids came every day. There was a mini bar and a television - but not many UK channels.
A great selection for adults, but not much for children - no nuggets or burgers. Well presented and always hot.
Overall a good clean hotel in a good location. Would go back if the pool bar staff changed their attitude. Must visit the Marina, but leave MarineLand till a cloudy day as it gets real hot.
A popular hotel
This hotel is nicely located for the Portal Nous Marina where there are some lively bars, good resturants and beautiful boats, with very high levels of testosterone! This can make the hotel vanerable to being busy, loud, and full of inconsiderate people coming back at all hours of the morning. The reception staff are very helpful, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, with a mini bar, Sat TV with lots of German channels. The bathrooms have a hair dryer, and a good selection of extras.
The food is of a good quality and selection. There is also internet facilities which can be useful if you are working. The pool can get very busy at times, and hot. All concrete and no grass.
There is a small childrens pool which is set back from the main area.
Although the hotel is good for disabled people, the hill down to the marina is probably not to suitable.
A nice stay, but was woken up every night and early morning, by people coming back late, or golfers stamping down the marble corridors.
Great for a short break!
We visited the hotel in March of this year as a suprise birthday pressie for my husband's 50th.
Although on checkin we were allocated a dirty room, this was rectified quickly. The room was good, nice bathroom and hairdryer. Good view of the pool and beyond from our balcony. We only ate breakfast in the hotel and this was good, plenty of choice, although a little disorganised, they could have had a waiter at the door ready to show you to your table.
The pool area was nice, but pool not heated, although we did manage one day lazing by it. Reception staff very pleasant. A good base for a nice relaxing few days.
The walk down to the marina a bit steep and the back gate closed a bit too early so we had to walk all the way round. Good choice of restaurants locally, Jose's opposite the hotel, Wellies in the marina, nice to people watch, food good but a bit pricey, Bar/Restaurant Continental, just next to the hotel - good food, good service and locals use it! Cappucino in the marina - a great place to see the fantastic boats, see how the other half live and watch the world go by.
Would definately make the hotel our base again!
I am going to Mallorca this weekend and have some questions.
1. What are sightseeings and also beach in there?
2. Where is cheap accommodation for one night?
3. Anay other tips?
hi, where in Mallorca are you planning on going/staying?
we stay at a hotel called The Hotel Marina Portals http://www.hotel-marina-portals.com/ which is cheap and includes breakfast! it has an inside and outside pool, it's got a few shops and restaurants nearby, and a 5 minute walk from peutos portals, which is gorgeous. it's about €10 to Magaluf and i think we got a bus into Palma a few times and it was lush too. i've been three times and will go back again, it's lovely. perfect. i'm sure it's about €50 pppn
at this late stage i would wait til yo ugat to mallorca airport and see what accommodation you can source in the airport - maybe you r cheapest option now
hope you enjoy
