More about Mimosa Hotel
Not very impressed with the Mimosa Park Hotel
I booked this hotel based purley on the tripadvsior reviews - at the time of booking it was number 6 on the most popular list - now its number 14 ! its dropped 8 places in a matter ov months .Personally we did'nt have a very enjoyable stay .
Firstly the hotel is your typical 1970's spanish style hotel . All whitewashed concrete , marble and tiles . check in was easy enough- reception staff quit helpfull . foyer clean and smart . nice furnishings . However the hotel only has 3 lifts - all very small . they are old and rickety and at times you could be waiting 10 -15 minutes to get one empty or with enough room to fit you in . We had a pushchair with us and that was a nightmare . any one with mobility problems or like us small children would have a nightmare ov a time .This hotels lifts are woefully inadequete for its size and at times i thought dangerous !
The room was very basic - old 1980's style furnishings , good size bathroom tho , ironic as the bedroom was on the small side with the 3rd bed being hidden inside a cuboard attached to the wall . it was an old fashione pull down and im sorry but my 19 year old daughter was terrified that if she moved around to much in her sleep that it would swallow her up ! so every night we took the mattress out and she slept on the floor . The maids were excellent and towels abundant - decent sizw balcony but ours was facing onto a very busy main road - traffic 24 hrs a day .
The food i thought was actually excellent - what i didnt enjoy was the free for all every time the resteraunt opened , i have honestly never been so ashamed to be british , you had to fight your way through the asbo grannies and chav yobs to get to the buffet - it was a very uncomfortable dining experience - i dont know why - its the end ov may - not even half term and the place was bursting at the seems . the staff tryed there very best but it was nigh on impossible to to keep an orderly , tidy resteraunt . The all inclusive option was a good value - i had no complaintas about the quality ov the food but i didnt take too kindly having to watch the staff sweeping up the many , many cockroachs running arounfd the resteraunt whilst i was eating my paella ! yes cockroachs - the hotels resteraunt and downstairs areas seemed to have a big problem with our beetle friends . there were a lot ov unhappy diners i can tell you .
then ther was the drinks service in the evening - on average 20 minutes queing for a drink ? it was awfukll . in the end we got fed up and went into town ...all inclusive option went to the wall . bar area was too crowded , stage for entertainment , all in all not a very enjoyable or comfortable bar for drinking.
then there was the pools - on first glance nice...on closer inspection murky looking - packed with your usual i've got my sunbee and i'll kill you if you touch it mentalists around the pool ! there was fighting every day around the pool , towels on the beds by 6am and not a german in site . i took my grandson in the water the first day and his little toes didnt darken the pool again during our stay - why ? because the scumbag chavs who were all drunk and causing mayhem around the pool had been gobbing in it . yes a gross ball ov phlem swept passed us in the pool . it was vile .
i picked the mimosa on its previously good reviews and because i thought that it would be family friendly . far from it . it was'nt very family friendly at all . It was a very uncomfortable stay and i felt anxious all the time whilst there .
Maybe i went in the wrong week and every stag party and gang of grumpy grannys in the world was there at the same time i dont know but every one i met had some complaint or another - from queing to long at the bar , dodgy lifts , fightin for a scran , dodgin phlem in the pool , to watchin drunks kick each others teeth in and gettin no sleep ov a night because there was a party on your floor .
truthfully i was very disapointed and had i payed the amount ov money that other familys did to stay there i would have freaked out and demanded my money back - ironically we only stayed in the hotel for 3 nights , we stayed in the bougnavilla in sa coma for the first 4 nights and how the mimosa was rated higher bon trip advisor than the bougnavilla i will never know . both hotels are owned by hotetur . i would jump at the chance to stay in the boogie again but dont think id ever bother with the mimosa hotel again . sad really .
Just arrived home from a weeks holiday in Majorca, we stayed at the Hotel Mimosa Park and loved it! The reps were fantastic with the kids and entertained the adults too. The nightly entertainment ticked all the boxes and had a good balance for both the adults and the kids. The food was great, we went all inclusive for the first time, against all the advice we were given but were delighted with it.
The Hotel was very clean, however i do agree that the rooms were far too small for a family of four, but we survuved. Most of the staff were friendly, the odd grumpy barman but in general they were very pleasant and accommodating.
Will definitely be back next year and would have no problem in recommending tis hotel to families.
We have just returned from a weeks stay at Mimosa Park. I booked this hotel through Direct Holidays, as I had done 2 years ago, as it was a really good deal and last time we stayed there it was basic but fine.
The lifts in the hotel had not improved since our last stay. They are increadibly slow, stop at every floor, can go the opposite way you want and still get stuck sometimes.
The staff at the hotel never smile and they are the only thing that is actually slower than the lifts, its hard to believe people can move this slow without falling over.
The food was OK but I felt it had gone downhill since our last stay.
Our worst experience happened on our third night. Whilst having dinner in the restaurant, my wife noticed some of the other guests jumping to their feet looking rather alarmed. This was because a number of cockroaches had appeared in the restaurant, all around the area of the kitchen door. Mind you this was a rare oportunity to see some of the staff smile, as they seemed amused that some of the guests did not want a cockroach crawling up their leg. We saw 5 cockroaches being squashed in the restaurant, by staff and guests and on the way out I had a glance in the small storeroom next the kitchen, where the door had been left slightly open and I counted a further 11 squashed remains in there. We did not eat in the hotel after this.
On the plus side, the hotel rooms are kept very clean and it is a good location, only a short walk to the beach and about a 15 minute walk into Magaluf. On the way down the road, visit Amigos Cafeteria for a 'pint of the finest with not too much snow on the top' and some of the best entertainment you will have, watching the noisy waiter in action.
Mimosa Park is rated 3 star but I would say this is probably too high. Its not all doom and gloom though as we did enjoy our stay (apart from ' the night of the cockroach')
Would we stay there again ? Probably, if the price was right, but I dont think I would eat there again.
You get what you pay for.
I've just returned from mallorca from a weekend in mimosa park. I stayed for 3 nights with my mum. I also stayed a few years ago, with the rest of my family and only returned a the last time we satyed it was ok.
No complaints this time either, it was an average 3 star hotel, getting what you pay for. The food seemed ok, during our stay we didn't see any cockroaches, just plenty of birds flying in and out of the restaurant, they get quite close aswell!!!
The rooms are basic, but clean, clean towels are supplied everyday. No complaints here.
The staff have been there since the hotel opened do don't expected anything to exciting, their stuck in their ways and probably dread the summer season when the hotel is full of british tourists!!
The entertainment is the usual package holiday stuff, and some acts that come into the hotel are the same as when we went about 5 years ago.
If your staying in mimosa park in the next few weeks, don't expect an out of this world hotel, it's your usual 3 star spanish hotel.
We did have a few stag/hen parties staying and they can get a bit loud around the pool, but they were only havin fun. Even though everyone's idea of fun is different.
Hope you enjoy your stay if your going soon. Feel free to send me a message if you would like any more information.
Great All Round
We have just got back from a weeks holiday at the Mimosa Park ,All Inclusive booked through Holiday Nights for £426.00 for 2 adults and 1 child.
HOTEL - Typical Spanish 3 star hotel very clean and well maintained. Rooms are basic but have all you need, the beds were changed daily as were the towels. . Pool is excellent but is not heated ( not that it stopped our 8 year old son ). All staff that we dealt with spoke good english and their customer service was at least 4 star standard. Swapped us into a sea view room on arrival no bother. Toni and Marguerita on reception were great and so helpful with local information. Only a couple of minutes walk from the main drag, on a slight incline. Centre of Palma Nova is a 5 minute stroll.
FOOD & DRINK - Food is of the normal standard you get at this level. Plenty of salads and fish, basic meat choices and a bit repetitive. All was warm and well cooked with full english on request and superb paella. Full drinks service in the restaurant and very helpful waiting staff. All inclusive drinks is a good choice with a full range including a daily cocktail. Bar stall very friendly and efficient, Both Juan's, Jesus & Jose were great and looked after our son well too.
ENTERTAINMENT - Well what can we say ! Bingo Bingo every night which was great fun, followed by awards from the day time actitives followed by "different" nightly entertainment. Day time had a full programme from the superb Animacion team led by Andy Mac and Diego. Our son was the only kid there to begin with, but still had a great time and became an adopted grandchild to all the Spanish penshioners! I'd say these guys would be unbeatable at a kids club in high season.
Overall, this hotel far exceeded our expectations and was perfect for a spring break, would definitely return. Do make sure you book on the net as people we got in with paid £1500 half board for 2 adults & 2 kids through travel agent, we paid £730 all inclusive, flights with Easyjet. Taxi from the airport 33 euro each way. Didnt hire a car, taxis are cheap (Palma City 15 euro, Marineland 5 euro, Santa Ponsa 7 euro) and plentiful. If you fancy a change, at the bottom of the street, Banana Joe's is a great disco bar, Castaways do fantastic food all day very cheap. Looking forward to our next visit.
this hotel is a great 3 star accommodation, its half board the foods really nice and its in a great location. the pool area is great abd they have a good entertainment team
theres a supermarket next door, beach about 400 metres away shops and bars are round the corner its not in the busiest part of palma nova but not far away from it.
its nice and clean and the rooms are nice too and cleaned every day
Have just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel.4 adults no children. The hotel looks good from the outside and the reception area is very spacious. After check in we waited ages for the lifts which were totaly inadequate for the size of this hotel and very very slow.We soon found out that it was quicker to use the stairs to go down to the ground floors. The dining room was something else! The food was not very good and eating at this hotel was certainly not a pleasure.Breakfast was ok but evening meals consisted of poorly overcooked fish, tough meat and generally not well presented. The rooms were basic but clean, linen changed daily. We were fortunate enough to get a 9th floor room at the back of the hotel which gave fantastic views of the bay and sunrise into the room.
In my opinion the view from the room was the best part of the holiday and more than made up for the lack of friendlieness and help from the bar/dining room staff who to put it bluntly were just plain rude!!!
Would i go back to hotel? NO
This is a good 3 star hotel. June 4th to 7th 2007
Just had a 3 night stay on my stag doo with 5 friends and not one serious complaint from anyone. (June 4th to 7th 2007). Hotel foyer is spacious and clean, although not modern with plenty of sofas. Three lifts to 8 floors but only really room for four people at a time, obviously busy at meal times as with any hotel.
All our rooms were of a good size, clean and fresh and cleaned daily, with large tv, air con/heating dependant on time of year, built in wardrobe with safety deposit box inside, telephone, balcony with plastic table and chairs and clothes airer/dryer. Front facing rooms are over quite busy road (not m/way!), view more to mountains and over smart private dewllings, sun on balcony in afternoons and inland facing. Rear rooms face over small private dwellings with sea views to distance (we were on floor 5), no sun on balcony after noon. None of the rooms face the pool as that is at the end/side of the hotel and you are not located by any other hotels directly. ***The walls are very thin and you can hear conversitions in adjacent rooms.***
Food was good, plenty of with a good variety. One of my party used to be a chef (5yrs) and the other a resteraunt manager (9yrs), and not one comlaint from either of them, apart from some interesting deserts!. And yes there are cockroaches, we saw one, besides none of us were ill (apart from alcohol inflicted) and you dont spend all day in the resteraunt do you.
Bar area and evening entertainment were ok, plenty of seating and tables, 2 bar staff each night with an average wait of 5 mins for a drink. (no limit to quantity although a sign said different). Most of the staff were miserable, and not very helpful anywhere in the hotel.
Pool area was ok, a little cramped/packed, with a side bar. There was a rooftop sun terrace to the rear which was far quieter and more pleasant.
Palma Nova centre and beach is a few minute walk down the steps at hotel side or through gate from side of pool, across the playground, down the road and left. Magaluf is 10 to 15 minute walk along same route but turn right at the road junction not left.
Overall this hotel is a good 3 star hotel in a good quiet location with a mix of famalies, oaps and groups. You get what you pay for, so don't expect too much, if you want a great holiday pay more and don't moan when you've paid 3 star. I've stayed in far far worse 3 star accomodation more than once, and took my family to a few 5 star hotels too. If you can get this place cheap enough you will be happy so bear the value factor in mind.
Our group were very happy and said they would all use the hotel again, with an age group of 30 to 48. (im 38).
The best family holiday ever
just come back on the 23rd june 2007, what a great holiday, i have been all over the world and this hotel and holiday was spot on, yes the walls were thin but not that u could here everything next door. the family room was massive with 5 beds, and as a family of four it suited us, the rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels were given to us every day. ok we were on the first floor with a view of the main road but hey u only sleep in your room, the food was plenty and different most nights, although the food needed to be a bit more varied for the kids, help yourself as many times as u wish, plenty of salads and fresh fruit. The entertainment- want can i say,the adult entertainment was great, but the children entertainers, andy, laurie, lauren, katie and the one and only nick the stick were a credit to themselves and there familys should be so proud of them, my 4yr old and 18mth yr old loved them, the efforf they put in was amazing. my family were doing the court of king caratacus 2 days after getting back in our lounge!!!! i had a tear in my on our last night as did not want the hols to end as have never seen my 4 yr old enjoy him self so much. the pool was great and the sun shined for 14 days. just booking again for next year, only 360 days to go!!! the wrights from leicester, mike jenny jack and max.
mimosa park hotel
hey you guys!!#
has anyone been to this hotel i have heard that it is up a large hill and has no air conditioning
RE: mimosa park hotel
Hi...Air conditionnig is not necessary out of July and august in Palma...But if you are hungry...Cekller Sa Prenza, or Forn de San Joan...Nice places.
RE: mimosa park hotel
If it is up a large hill it does not need air con as there will probably be a breeze.I stayed in two places in South France July which did not have air con and they were in the hills and air con was not needed.
RE: RE: mimosa park hotel
