BUS PASSES-TRANSABUS

by dougie5419

I have been told by a friend that Transabus, the bus company operating in the Calvia area where Palma Nova is located, offer pre-paid bus passes. Is this correct and can one pass cover 3 people or do I need to buy 3 passes. Can they be purchased on the bus? What do they cost?

Re: BUS PASSES-TRANSABUS

by qaminari

What you want is not a pass, which would be for one person only, but a multi-trip card or "bonobus" which can be used for several people at a time. The "bono" tarrifs given here are for individual journeys, http://www.transabus.com/index_tarifas.html, so a 10-trip bonobus for the zone in question will cost 10 times that fare. For example, when a single ticket is €1.50, you can get a 10-trip bonobus for €9 and a 40-trip one for €24.

P.S. Those prices are for the university bus, and only available for students, so you will need to check for the zone you are in. As to where to buy these, usually it is from tobacconists' shops, ask locally. Apparently there's also a 1-day tourist ticket for €9 per adult, €3.60 per child.

Hoopoe

by pugwashman

We spotted a Hoopoe on our visit to Castell de Bellver.
Not something we see back in England so thought it was worth a mention, though it appears they are quite common in Mallorca.
He was so cute !

Cathedral

by Linndy

Cathedral
This is, probably, the most distinctive landmark of Palma. The cathedral, called la Seo by the Mallorquines, was constructed from 14th to 19th century, and the highly creative Antoni Gaudí designed its interior in 20th century. Results are fascinating and original at the same time, almost impossible to describe with words. Most outstanding are perhaps the Puerta del Mirador, a door towards the sea created by architect Guillen Sagrera, and, in the interior, the chapels Capilla Real and Capilla de la Trinidad, as well as the museum with masterworks specially of the Baroque epoch.
