Great holiday in Majorca
We have just returned from Majorca we thought the Palma Nova Hotel was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful couldn't fault them.Read alot of reviews before i went was not looking forward to going but to be quite honest i couldn't find anything wrong with the hotel or the place,i will definately be going again.I have been all over the world and have seen some bad hotels but the Palma Nova Hotel is not one of them.It was clean meals were good pool area and pools were clean entertainment was good the young children loved it Emily Will and Per were great with them.I did think that the rooms were rather warm due to the lack of fans or a.c.but this is to be sorted before next summer,so no problem. My advice to anybody going go and enjoy youself its great.
Palma Nove hotel.
I have recently got back from a two week break at the Hotel 'Palma Nova'. Generally it was good, great location for the beach and town and the deals of getting cheapper tickets for different attractions including the crazy golf which was a great hit for everyone in the family - we went twice in the two weeks!
However, twice within our stay at the hotel our room door was left unlocked and the beds were not made nor' was the bin emptied. Towells were not always cleaned everyday meaning they were left smelling because their was no where to hang them because they had builders in doing maintenence all over the hotel.
Food was of a good quality however it was repititive and got extremely boring, eating the same thing everyday for brekfast lunch and dinner got tiereing. Most of my family which consisted of myself, my husband and my two children ended up eating Jam and Toast every morning and pasta for lunch and dinner.
Furthermore, there were a few adults and kids who were constantly 'bombing' into the pool, running around the pool and generally making a nuisence of themselves and their ended up with a large amount of casulties, when people complained about the situation the reception staff and the tour rep just shrugged their shoulders and said 'So?'
Also, the rooms were barely big enough for 2 people let alone the 4 people they squashed into this tiny room. There are only 7 family rooms in the hotel - one on each floor, meaning everyone is squashed into a small room and the TV only had 2 channels which were in English.
However, saying all this the bar staff were always happy and willing to help anyone - especially family with young children. They were always smilieing and were always playing with the children and helping to make life easier at meal times. Furthermore, the entertainers, Will, Emilie and Per were great, they made the holiday great, they did a range of activities in the day rangeing from Mini Golf, Shooting and Snooker/Pool. Also, hosting a game of water polo in the afternoon in which they got involved in quite often!
Also, a further note anyone who goes to Majorca MUST go and see the show pirates, it is amazing and it deffinately worth the time and money.
good hotel but!!

On arrival at the Palma Nova Hotel in Majorca we were made very welcome by the reception staff. The rooms were very good and the whole week was very enjoyable and we would visit again.
All the staff are really friendly and helpfull, the hotel is very very clean with towels changed daily; and bed linen once a week. The Fantasia golf is great value when bought from the reception at 9Euros a saving of 1 Euro 50cents.You can have three games during a day if you do not want to play all at once. we went morning ,afternoon and evening. Remember to ask for a re-entry ticket if you are coming back. The hotel was great the only complaint is LIFTS they only have 2 for over 600 people so be prepared to wait OR GET A LOW FLOOR. We shall return however.
Ignore every bad reveiw you read on this website about this wonderful hotel! I admit it does have its faults but its pros far outweigh them.
The rooms may be a tad on the basic side but please tell me what else you need bar a bed, bathroom and balcony for an all inclusive holiday? Theres even a few added extras such as a TV! The food was great, they try to cater for most and I personally think they make every effort to. There were snacks such as burgers and toasties available when main meals weren't being served so there was always something to eat if you got a bit peckish.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and most spoke good English. The entertainment was good, although not brilliant, but there was a daily game of water polo in the pool in the afternoon which was always fun to watch, but make sure you don't sit behind the goalnets! Throughout the day activities were held for both adults and children and in the evening there was a kids disco followed by bingo and then the evening show topped off the entertainment. Although even if this didn't take your fancy there were shops, bars and restaurants all along the beach front and was only a short distance from magaluf (about 5 euro each way in a taxi and about 35 minute walk) If you can be bothered to walk I would recommend it, the atmoshpere is great!
The hotel was minutes from a gorgeous beach with clear waters and calm waves, one of the best beaches I've been on anyway.
Hotel Palma Nova is a great place and both Palma Nova and Magaluf are fantasic, both me and my boyfriend enjoyed every minute of our first holiday there and plan to go back in the future. I would recommend it to anyone!
What a crap hotel
What can i say, upon arrival at the hotel at night it looked good on first impressions, when straight to the room, which wasn't bad to stay in. It was very close to the beach and the shops and the walks to the other end of parma nova were very good to visit, and close by is the golf fantasia which is good, but the hotel facilities were alot to be desired, even though its a family based hotel and all inclusive, it was very good if you were a alcoholic for the drinks, but the food was not what you would call great, cos if you missed any of the main meals, all you had was burgers and chips, (McDonalds down the road tasted better), it seems that they are reheated the food that was not used and making some of the meals into pies or stews, i have never had such a bad stomach like i did in the first week, and the wife going down in the second week, with food poisoning and listening to people that had been there before, were saying how bad it has got since they were taken over by another group, they are shutting the hotel for 6 months while they install aisr conditioning in all the rooms, thats if they finish it in time for next year in april, but i wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy, so if you like screaming kids running all over the place, and none existant entertainment ( except 2 nights a week ) which is only on from 22.00 for the show that lasts a hour, my advice is find another hotel in the resort and have a good time, but not at the palmanova hotel. As the staff don't know if they still have a job after they shut the place, that is why the didn't smile.
take no notice and have a good holiday
all i can say is go and see for yourself,
stayed in august for 7 nights, party of 4 (2 adults,2 kids)rooms on the small side you have to ask at reception for a proper family room (they have about 4 in the hotel.) staff no problem at all even smiled at times. food could not be faulted, drinks no problem, through the day poolbar is open, evening poolbar stayed open plus inside bar opened up aswell.
will gladly go back next year if i can get a good deal (we paid £1650 al in same week in 2006 at the moment is going to be £2200 because air con is being put in this winter.
we stayed at this hotel in september 2005,i must say the standard of cleanliness was excellent. the hotel was an all inclusive deal, drinks were plentiful, food was very good but it began to get a bit repetitive after the first few days. overall i would recommend this hotel. only drawback rooms were a bit small and balconies a bit cramped but otherwise we totally enjoyed it. for anyone visiting majorca for the first time or that matter anyone visiting a second time and not yet seen "the pirates". it i a must see show
foood disgustingstaff unhelpful.ignorant when trying to ask for assistance at reception they are always to busy on the phone and refused to make eye contact so they could pretend they did not see you AND WOULD NOT ACNOWLEDGE YOU, springs sticking out of two mattresses
Palma nova is a great place spoiled by this hotel and staff this is our tenth year at the resort if it had been our first we would not go back
Me and my boyfriend just returned from a lovely week in palma nova. We booked months ago and as it was our first holiday together, could'nt wait to get there. We arrived at lunch time and were given all info we needed, room key, wristbands and leaflets. We were on the second floor which was good as its an 8 storey hotel and you had to wait a while sometimes for the lifts. The room was clean and we had a great view of the pool area, if you want a sea view i suggest you ask for a higher floor as it could't be seen from where we were. The only downside to the room was the outdated decor but unless you go on holiday to spend all of your time in the hotel room, this isn't really an issue! The main reception and other areas of the hotel were nice and there is plenty going on for kids. The three entertainers worked really hard and were very friendly. The food was fine for us, we never went hungry and always tried what was on offer, there were chips availavble for every meal which we did'nt mind as they were really nice! The did have a variety of food and the majority of it was tasty. Some of the other guests moaned about it but we found it ok for us as we are not very picky. We were very impressed with the surrounding area, we could'nt have asked for a better location, the sea if a 2 minute walk away and it really beautiful and clean. The are many shops and retaurants along the sea front and the main town of plama is only a bus ride away, which is worth a visit for the amazing cathedral and shops. The main highlight for me was going to see the dolphins at marineland, which is 5 mins away in a taxi, they are amazing and the kids will love it. Also, the great bonus was the fact that, even though we went in early october, the weather was great apart from one day when it rained slightly, we still came back with a tan! Overall, this was a brilliant holiday for us, one to remember, we are already looking to book up next year, we may be going to palma nova again but i will try a different hotel.
I will go again
I arrived with 7 friends for a 5 night break and having read others reviews was truly quite scared BUT it was great. The food was good quality, plenty of vegetarian options, lots of fish (but when in Spain, mind the bones). The staff were always pleasant but also very busy so no time for playfulness. The pool area was clean and tidy. The rooms were clean but with some classic vintage furniture. Our beds were dead comfy. I will not hesitate to return with my husband but I would stick to out of season as I can imagine it being really busy in the summer.
