Are there any quality Surfing locations and Board rental shops in Mallorca (not Wind Surfing)

by Strawser

I am traveling to Mallorca March 16 - April 2nd for a two week bicycle racing / training camp and would like to find a spot to rent a quality Surf Board and do some surfing. I'm a California native and am used to 2-10 foot USA-West Coast and Hawaiian type surf.
Any suggestions ?
Also, I'm a certified scuba diver and am hoping to squeeze in one or two half days of diving - are there one or two diving locations that people love to go to - and especially anything near the area of Port de Pollenca where our hotel is located.
I would appreciate any advice.
Thank you - Sincerely, Duane Strawser

Have seen alot of people kite surfing between Pto Pollensa and Alcudia but not aware of places to surf on the island.

I've no idea of what is "2-10 foot USA-West Coast and Hawaiian type surf" but the Medietrranean waves are generally very small, it's a pretty quiet sea. I've not been to Mallorca for ages but I can't remember any surf spot there. Yes kite surf and windsurf, but the only famous places for "just surf" in Spain are in the Atlantic coasts (i.e. Tarifa, some spots in the the Basque country...)

Hi...lot of kites and windsurf but no surf. The mediterranean sea is very quiet. In Alcudia and Pollensa there are 2 shops where U can rent good equipment for windsurfing and kitesurfing. U ride road bikes or MTB? I'm a huge fan of MTB...just take a look into my personal photo on my homepage ;) and to the Mallorca pages, U'll see lot of excursions in the mountains... good luck and write me if U need more answers...bye!

Travel Tips for Palma de Mallorca

Siesta or nap

by russian_yaz

A siesta is a short nap taken in the early afternoon, often after the midday meal. Such a period of sleep is a common tradition in hot countries. The word siesta is from the Spanish language derived from the Latin (hora)sexta.

So after this explanation my tip is only to say to U that usually every store closes at 1pm and opens again at 4pm. So be aware, if U need to buy something, do it in the morning or U'll need to wait until 4pm.

Now somw big stores do not close, they are aware about tourist that don't need to sleep each day, they prefer to wander around. So if U need something at nap hours, go to the big stores.

Probably the best way to get...

by jesjimenez

Probably the best way to get here is by plane, we have a very big airport and there're a lot of flights. You can also come by boat from Barcelona or Valencia, travel time goes from 2-3 h to around 8 h the slowest boat.
You can go walking to most places, but there're also buses.

Not really favorite but it was...

Not really favorite but it was a nice place
The thing we reallt liked about this place - there are telephones next to every table and you can chat with other tables in the restaurant! You can just say - Enjoy your meal :) The funniest thing is when your phone starts ringing and you don't know what to do with it - to answer or not? and who is calling???:) Spicy chicken wings - a bit American style as the name too:)

Beautiful plants in the Botanicactus garden

by katamorgana

The Botanicactus garden spreads out about 50,000 square meters. There are more than 400 species of plants. You can see various cactuses from typical Majorcan cactus to "Carnegie Giant" from Arizona, which is over three hundred years old. Autochonous Majorcan flora - olive groves, pomegranate, almond, pine. cypress scented orange, carob and eucalyptus trees grow on 25,000 square meters of the Botanicactus. This is the largest botanical garden in Europe.

The Legend of Le Seu

by starship

There is a famous legend about Le Seu (also known as El Seo). The legend relates that when King Jaime I was returning to Mallorca to recapture the island, a terrible and fierce gale threatened to sink his fleet. Jaime vowed to build a church in honor of the Virgin Mary if she protected them and they survived to defeat the Moors which they did. On the former spot of an Arab mosque, Jaime laid the foundation stone of Le Seu in 1229. As is most often the case with such magnificent cathedrals, construction on the grand church lasted for hundreds of years and of course Jaime I was never to see the completion of the cathedral, but his promise was kept by those who followed him.
