sol antillas

Sol Antillas Barbados is two separate hotels. We stayed in the Sol Antillas which seemed to be far superior to the Sol Barbados.
The rooms have been recently renovated to a high standard and are spacious with tiled floors and a balcony. Nothing is ever perfect and the minor downside is the paper thin walls.
The staff were friendly and efficient and the buffets were to a high standard.
If I had any gripes it would be the additional charges for minor things like the use of the mini bar (i.e. even if you don't drink anything there's a weekly charge once the security seal is broken), the hire of a kettle and the hire of pool towels. I would have expected these things to be included in a 4* hotel.
Overall I was very impressed with this hotel.
wonderful hotel

We stayed at the Sol Antillas by mistake. We were unhappy with the hotel we were staying at so we drove around and found this hotel. It's a beautiful hotel with great food. We were able to get a huge suite with an ocean view for a great price. We loved the room and the staff is incredibly nice. It was too windy to use the pool, but it looked nice. We had a wonderful time there and would love to go again when the weather is better.
25 years and still staying here!

My friends and I have been staying at your hotel for the past 25 years and have always found the staff most pleasant and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious and the ground are delightful. The hotel is situated away from the noise which is what we like about it. We would not stay anywhere else in the resort. We book every year knowing what to expect, which maybe predictable but we like it.

Good as Ever

My wife and I have used this hotel over many years and it continues to live up to, and even exceed, expectations. This time we were lucky to have a completely refurbished room in the Antillas (rooms 400 upwards) but I am sure that the other rooms were OK. The buffet for breakfast and dinner were good and on two nights special Mexican and Majorcan dishes were added to the menu. The staff were first class as usual.
Shame about the February weather but the Majorcan mountains looked fantastic covered in snow!
Standrads have dropped

Arrived back from the Antillas for the second year and we have seen a drastic drop in the standards.
The hotel room was wonderful: we complained last year and was promised a good room if we returned; the hotel was true to their word. We had a studio large bedroom which had been recently renovated but be very careful because the 2 lower floors are still in desperate need of renovation. If you are offered a room on floor 1 or 2 refuse it; they are sub-standard.
The restaurants dress code is very poor, folk were dressing in shorts etc for evening meals. No linen on the tables this year, paper mats, it was more like a cafe than a restaurant and they allowed smoking in the restaurant which we found disgusting.
The food was more based towards the eastern europeans and you will find it difficult to find another english speaking couple. The staff were lovely but when we spoke to a few of them they said that the hotel was not the same and standards had definately dropped.
Holidayed their with Thomsons last year, re visited this year but would never return there again. Sorry Antillas you need to look at your clientele and aim for a 4* or drop your star rating to 3.

by HP&Friends
We are a group of four and stay in a hotel in Palma over New Years Eve. Any ideas where/how to spend the night?

Hi,
as you are staying in Palma go to the Ayuntamiento, or City Hall, by Palma´s Old Town, everyone gathers there at midnight, there is normaly live music events and dancing soon after midnight, , and loads of bars, restaurants etc,
Have fun in Palma
