ok but not a 4 star

a party of of us stayed at the sol cala blanca in early september 4 adults and a child of 6. booked it because it got great reviews from people on this website but we didnt find it so, its definitleyl dated the carpets in the entrance and stairs are very worn. got there late and no porter and noone told us anything about the hotels facilities breakfast times etc. in our room the dressing table should have had glass on it but it was missing and the room was very basic our bathroom toiletries were never replaced during our stay and as other people have said we had a tree outside our room on the first floor and got eaten alive with mosquitos. the bar area was very nice but the service poor as there was only ever one waiter to take the drinks order make them and bring them to you. dining room too small and service of food too cramped. often cutlery and glasses dirty. entertainment also poor only 2 professional shows during whole time rest just person on a keyboard. customer service rep decided to tell us the day before we left that our grandson could have gone to a sol hotel across the road for some activities. also the pool area was really small no where near big enough for everyone or many sunbeds water cold as it was very shaded by trees have stayed at some really good hotels but dont think this is worthy of 4 stars dont think i would go there again
ok but not a family hotel

I must say first that most of the staff are friendly and very helpful.
As we went with other people and they had two children aged 11 and 13 there was very little in the hotel to keep them amused but as the beach is outside that was ok when it wasn't raining !!
It was also hot in the rooms but when i asked about the air conditioning i was told it was on heat as some guests were cold on a night.
The food is ok but agaiin not great for kids and some nights i struggled but thats my fault as i am not very adventures with my food.
It is noisey at the front of the hotel as some reports have said so i would suggest a pool view, but i thought the room was clean and a good size.
The pool bar is not cheap to eat or drink so its worth a walk out and about at lunch time.
The towels are changed every day and floor mopped.
We had a nice time but i would not recommend this hotel for a family with children and the pool is small and VERY cold.
outstanding hotel

My boyfriend and i stayed at the cala blanca for 14 nights. It was definately one, if not the best hotel we have visited. The location was excellent, right on the beach with many bars and restaurants all around. The staff were all extremely helpful and very friendly, they really could not do enough for you.
The food was very good, definately lots of choice every evening. The hotel was extremely clean, maid came into the rooms to change the towels everyday.
One of the best features of the hotel is that for a 10 euro deposit you can have beach towels. Every time you want to change them you only need to pay 1 euro. This will save some space in your suitcase.
I would definately recommend having a room with a sea view, it was lovely waking up and looking straight onto the beach. It was 20 euros per night but worth every euro! However, you should email the hotel before you go and reserve these rooms as they may all be taken otherwise.
Overall a fab holiday, if we ever returned to Mallorca would definately return to this hotel.
OK, but not a 4 star

On average the hotel was OK.
The orange SOL sign made the hotel seem tacky and cheap and the red door carpet was a disgrace.
The food was moderate but catered very little for vegetarians. Most of the staff were polite and pleseant however there were a few exceptions.
The rooms were very clean and had excellent air conditioning. They were also quite roomy.
The nighttime entertainment was enjoyable. The three pools were in need of refurbishment.
Yet again the hotel was OK but definately not a 4 star, it should have been a 3 star hotel.
