More about Sol Guadalupe
good location but average
Just come home from week stay at Sol Guadalupe, the Hotel overall is ok but as people have said before there area couple of problems
Firstly we found the staff to be quite rude, they had a bit of an attitude didnt seem to realise that we were the customers even though we were very polite to them but afterall they were all old men rather than young friendly faces
The maids forgot twice to give us toilet roll, and on one occasion gaves us 1 towel for 3 people , looked like they spent about 5 minutes cleaning the room
The pool area is very crowded and noisy would reccomend going to the beach instead( the view is much better)
if you have children then theres alot for them to do, the location of the hotel is good near the bars, restaurants, shops and beaches
It is noisy at times went the drunks come in banging on doors and singing and the food isnt bad just gets a bit boring after a week as there is little variety and the lifts are also a bit dogdy as they work on ropes
Otherwise for what we paid it was a descent hotel, would go back in the off season for a couple of days
Good value for money but serious noise problems
Stayed at the Sol Guadalupe for a week in June 2005. We were happy with the hotel based on the price we paid but I was surprised at how good some past reviews of the food were as we actually found the food to be very bland and so-so (not so much on Trip Advisor but other review websites).
We were very happy with the cleanliness of the hotel and the air con was fab! I understand the rooms were not that long ago renovated and certainly everything was very clean and modern. We lucked out and got a double bed – although we were less lucky with the balcony view as we were over the hotel restaurant and could just see several other hotels. Room was relatively small but the furniture etc definitely made it a nice place to get ready in.
There is a serious problem with noise at this hotel. The hotel block outside our balcony seemed to have parties every night – this was not so much a problem as we were generally on our way out whilst the parties went on. However the noise in the hotel corridor was excessive. On a late night back (for us) the hotel staff were warning a few drunken guys to be quiet in the reception but there did not appear to be any monitoring of noise in the corridors. Two incidents particularly stood out – extended loud conversations in the corridor at 6am and the sound of a football being kicked about (incidentally we could hear the ‘footballers’ talking and trying to talk quietly….so why kick a ball about?!).
The hotel is in a good location for the beach and a short walk to the party area near Torrenova.
We did not use the pool area – it was too crowded and we prefer to use the beach/sea.
We were disappointed with the Thomson reps. On arrival at the hotel our airport chaperone told us we would have a meet and greet the following morning and that details would be available in a folder – the folder did not contain any info on this. We rang the Thomson line to ask for more details and were told that the rep would contact us by fax to arrange a meeting time. The fax that arrived did not contain any information but a few days later they appeared at our room just after we returned from the beach with a pack on excursions….thankfully we are quite independent and not new to beach holidays so we had already found a map of the area and booked excursions through a local agent (incidentally this was significantly cheaper than the prices in the Thomson brochure). Disappointed with Thomson as never had a bad experience with them before and we just felt a bit abandoned by them.
I would highly recommend the Son Amor evening show and do venture into Palma Nova – it only took 25 mins slow walk from the hotel to there and they have very nice reasonably priced restaurants. The beach there is nicer too and on Sundays is full of locals having beach picnics – a great atmosphere.
ok could be better
We have just returned from 5 days here hotel was ok but a bit disapointing .I thought the rooms were a bit on the small side but it was modern and clean though i don't think the maid swept our floor in the whole five days they had TV in the room which is good as you get BBC 1 and 2 which was handy when it rained. There is no chance of a lie[on our first night we had been up for 17 hrs] in or an early night at this hotel if you try and go to bed before mid-night you'll get woken up by everyone coming in as the walls are paper thin we also got woken at 4am with people coming in as most places stay open till 6am.Then again at 9am when the maids start working i don't think they know how to lift the furniture. The food was good although we only tried breakfast there was a very good slection the dinning room i thought was a bit caotic as you just sit anywhere we think as we were never told if we had a table number they just take your table number and say ok then you just go in.We never ate here in the evenings as my partner is very fussy but i heard it was ok but there is vey little restaurants in Magaluf [there is a nice mexican] most of them are pubs[Manos Place opposite this hotel is good for drinks as they give free shots] where you can watch your soaps.Overall we enjoyed our stay it might of been a bit more relaxing around the pool area if there was'nt so many young people there on the *** but then you are in Magaluf.
Went for short break of 3 days to this hotel. Booked hotel direct on Sol Melia website and flew with Globespan from Edinburgh.
Very clean and staff very helpful, have stayed at other Sol hotels and recommend them highly. Telephoned hotel before departure and asked for room with pool view, very helpful and when arrived had great room with good views of pool etc.
Have been to Magaluf many times and this best hotel have stayed in.
Kids have their own pool so is quiet around main pool. Drinks are expensive at bar next to pool but as location is only 5 min walk from beach go to one of the bars there (recommend daiquiri palace for iced cocktails!)
This hotel is situated at quieter end of Magaluf so at night is fine (people who say walls are thin must be light sleepers, it ain't bad at all).
Make sure you have a cocktail or three at Mano's as great pub with friendly atmosphere across the road from hotel.
Best thing I can say is that when going to Magaluf again will certainly book this hotel again (going to Egypt in September so maybe next year!)
great hotel in such a great place
Booked this hotel for a five night break with my girl sally, got to hotel and looked good and as from there it got better, room was clean and modern with maids in every day, the food was brill, good choice and tasted good, pool area could be bigger but didnt bother us cause it made it easy to see what was going on. location was great, manos place just across the road and the green parrot where on monday and wednesdays the dj wee phillie had us in stitches. easy reach of other locations e.g water parks and the other bars and nightlife, the only thing i can say bad about the hotel is the price of drinks in the bar area but sorted that by going out every night.
