Dear All,
I am planning to be on Mallorca island between 20-27 of July.
I am not a driver and would like to explore the island by public transport.
I kindly ask you to answer several questions:
1)Is it possible to travel by public transport?
I mean how good are connections between different cities and villages,
of the island, timetable etc.
2)Is there a possibility to buy kind of 1 week travel card or so.
3) How much is normal price for one ticket.

Bus services are not extensive and many lines finish early so make sure you can get back to where you are based each time. There is no night bus service.
The train service is quite limited, with one line from Palma to Sa Pobla and one from Palma to Manacor. There is also a 'tourist' train from Palma to Soller, and a Metro within the city of Palma.
I'm not aware of any travel card but perhaps a local can advise on that.
This picture was taken from the Bellver Castle, I came almost all the way from Alcudia to Palma sleeping on the bus so this was the first picture I took of Palma de Mallorca...
We can easely see the huge cathedral over the city.
THE place to windsurf or kite-surf is along the bay between Pt. de Pollenca and Alcudia where the wind seems to be constant. You can't miss it, just follow the kites. You can rent gear, take a course or just hang out and enjoy watching. Hobie cat rentals are also available in Pt. de Pollenca if you want something a bit bigger to play on.
If you are in a differnt country, air is the best, though you will definitely have a stop-over if flying in from the U.S.
If you are coming from somewhere in Spain, there is a ferry from Valencia, which takes between 6 and 9 hours. It is not too expensive, and is an interesting ride.
Getting around on foot is quite easy, as Palma is small. If you want to see the rest of the island, you can rent a car or take public transportation. Within the city, there are buses which are easy to ride. With just a little Spanish, you can ask the driver to let you know when you have reached your destination, or ask another passenger. 'Bono bus' tickets can be bought at any tabaqueria and give you ten rides fairly cheaply.
Don't miss the numerous churchs U'll find all around in Mallorca. They are beatifull. Any touristic map U'll have for sure will have signs indicating where are these beatifull ancient buildings. The main cathedral is close to the sea and the "Paseo Maritimo". It is a great gothical architecture
Large underground lake in caves and boats come out of the darkness with people playing classical music and little fairy lights - v captivating. You can get a lift back to the exit in one of the boats too.
