Great Holiday

by TripAdvisor Member clarew83

Just got back from a week staying at the Voranova. Our party was four girls aged 24. Overall we had a great week.
On arrival we were told our room wasn't ready (was 1pm) and were told it would be 15 mins. 2 hours later we finally got our room. Not a good start. Our room was on the 3rd floor. The room itself was a good size - huge balcony which was great. The beds are not the most comfortable but ok after a few drinks. The bathroom was nice and the shower was nice and powerful.
The pool is large and there are plenty of sun loungers. We only ate once at the pool bar and were pleased with what we got. We preferred to go to the beach than the pool so only spent one day here. The nearby beach is lovely - only a 5 minute walk away.
There is a minimarket in the hotel but it was a bit pricey - Lidl is only a short walk away and is much cheaper and more selection.
There are a few restaurants and bars nearby but again they seemed to be pricier than in nearby Magaluf. We went into Magaluf every night - a taxi only cost about 4 euros and was well worth it. It doesn't get going though until about midnight so don't bother going out early.
The majority of people staying at the Voranova seemed to be groups in their late teens and early twenties. There was noise at night and also was quite noisy by the pool in the day but we didn't mind too much.
Overall good location and good hotel for the price we paid.

Stags and Hens you deserve better!!!!

Well I booked 3 nights and 4 days for 9 girls for my hen party 22nd June.
I knew this place would be basic as it wasnt expensive but i did expect it to be clean..where do I start.
I specifically booked 3 rooms for 3 people in each and on arrival was told i had one room of 3 and a room for 6 which was all was available. That was a nightmare imagine 6 girls trying to get ready for a night out in one bathroom and later imagine 6 girls all drunk trying to use 1 loo and you get the picture. Still we were there for fun so made the best of that.

Room seemed clean on arrival but wasnt cleaned once more in the 4 days we were there and we didnt get any more towels despite asking. Our fridge didnt work and the aircon was sometines fine sometimes not!

The strangest thing about this room was that there were no electric lights except in the bathroom...all we had was a lamp so all 6 of us had to crowd round a sink to get ready at night and it was the same for the ones in the room of 3 they had no lights either...not the best when you getting ready for a night out..againwe coped with this.

Shower head didnt stay up so the best shower you could have was when you held it yourself and thats not the most relaxing. We filled in form after form to get them to fix this and the fridge and nothing was done Staff on the desk were rude and ignorant and just couldnt care less.

The room did have a safe and for mm roughly 45 euros you could hire the safe and a kettle from reception but you only got 15 back on departure. When we tried to claim this back we were told we couldnt have it as we didnt have a receipt but we had\the kettle and safe key to give back in???? We were never\\ given a receipt in the first place. I truly believe the chap behind the desk was trying it on to keep our deposit and his english was so poor we were getting no where until i really went mad and starting asking for the manager and he did then give us money back so beware of this.
I remember on arrival hearing another guest at the desk having exactly the same problem!

There are some positives. the little shop is well stocked BUT for all you smokers does not sell cigs and the pool is big and seems clean. dont bother with food at the hotel take a walk into Palma Nova and try the many restauranrts on the front across fromn the beach they are all nice and not bad prices and they made a real fuss of us girls and could not have been helpful enough. Henesseys does big jugs of cocktails for 10 euros a jug so we had those late afternoon.
The pool atmosphere got a bit much as its mostly big gangs of lads and they like pushing you in the pool and kicking balls at you-nice when you have a full glass of sangria in your hand. Language was really bad and I know the guys mean no harm and are just out to party but i dont consider this a hotel for families with children in any way due to the fact it is mostly stags and hens there!
We spent all our days on the beach. For a few euros you can hire a lounger for the whole day and sunbathe with no hassle at all. The beach at Palma Nova is very clean and the sea is lovely. You are close to the shops and food and drink-why spend any time in the Voranova unless you have to-we certainly didnt.
We had one mad night out in magaluf which we walked to and it took 20 mins and it was insane but one of the best nights i have ever had the only let down was having to come back to the hotel as its really grotty but Id had a few by that time so didnt bother as much.

In summary certainly go to Palma Nova - bit more upmarket and for your mad nights Magaluf (of MegaMuf as we call it) but avoid the Voranova. Its dirty and not worth even half of the money we paid. I will never return!!

I didnt take any pics as I was too ashamed to show my pals at home what a dump i stayed in no kidding!!!!

beware they will throw you out!!!! NEVER STAY HERE

well firstly when we arrives we where very pleased. room was good size large balcony and pool view!! , clean and tidy and complex seemed good. massive outdoor pool and looked very busy which can be a good thing!! especiallly after reading reviews before we arrived, which wernt too good.

arrived lunch time on tuesday 19th june 2007, decided to unpack then head for the pool!! now problem-- no sunbed, never mind we thought we'l lie on the grass and soak up the sun!!! went back to room bout 5ish and got ready for going out!! loud music blasting from rooms (not ours but a group of lads down the corridor). got ready and headed for magaluf bars and clubs! paid 6 euros in taxi( on way back paid 5 euros) watch out for the taxi drivers they will rip you off aswell as stare at your legs! very leery-girls sit in the back!!

anyway as we had been up since monday and hadnt slept due to an early morning flight on the tuesday me and my 2 friends(all girls) decided that we where just to tired to experince the clubs tonight and headed back to our apartment at around 11pm. we ended up falling asllep at around half 12 past midnight. at around 11am the following morning we were woken by a banging on our room door. a very ignorant member of staff from reception telling us to go to reception. i went and left my friends in bed. got there to be greeted by a total ignotrant man behind the desk saying we were being given a warning about being noisy in the night. banging doors shouting and just being very very loud at around 3am. I DONT THINK SO. we were totally shatterd that night and couldnt have managed to be that loud we were fast asleep. at the alleged time. but a group of girls in the room next to us also got a warning so we assummed that whoever complianed had got the rooom numbers wrong and to avoid any more trouble we asked if we could move rooms.

we moved to a groud floor room which when we walked in smelt like it hadnt had any air in it for weeks. the bathroom didnt smell too good either and we had ants in the bath, the toilet, the sink infat all over the bathroom and balcony. but we left the balcony door open to air and headed out to the pool.

decided that we would go out a bit later on this night so we could really try out the clubs and bars and have a top night!!! this we did and finally made it back about 6.30am. we met some people staying at the same hotel and decided to have a drink with them by the pooll! got to the room at bout 7ish and at 8am decided to go and sit on sunbeds by the pool!! we learnt that you had to reserve your sunbeds if you wanted one as they were soon took up!! me and my friend decieded to stay by the pool as we didnt think we could sleep now and as the sun was out thought we would try and catch a tan!!! at around 12 nnon we headed back to the room only to find that the key didnt work. we went to recption to be told that we had 30minutes to pack our bags and leave. we were told that we had been NOISY AGAIN!!! sorry i dont think so!! they said that banging and shouting had been going on in the early hours agian. but in the early hours we were dancing in BANNANAS club in magaluf!! by the way this is a totally fantastic club!!! so we knew that it couldnt have been us making this noise. however the manager didnt listen and told us if we didnt leave they would phone the police. Well being 3 young girls the last thing we wnated was to be arrested in a different country so not really beliveing what was happening, went and packed and lefted. it was only when we got talking to people we realised that this was a comman thing with the viranova. because of over booking they were throwing out young people to make rooms available for the familes that were arriving and threating them with compliants.

its a fact that in they are not allowed to just throw you out without either making sure you have somwhwere to stay or refunding you your money back! we got neither. (it is illegal) we only foud this out when we got home after paying for extra flights home!!

the vora nova is appartantly known for this kind of problem had we known this we would not have booked here!!
we will be demanding a full refund and if not we will be notifying HOLIDAY WATCHDOG for a full report of the worst hotel ever!!! and the staff had a look on their face like a wet kipper. i dont think they knew how to smile or be polite!!

beacuse we are young they feel they can just do that to us. well im sorry but we went for quality time with friends during the day and to enjoy magaluf at night. we didnt do to be noisy and act like hooligans as we knew that families wou;d be there and we had more respect for them. WE didnt make any noise and we didnt trash anything. we wanted to go and have a wonderful holiday but eneded up home after just 2 and half days. Sorry but its unacceptable and if you do actually take notice of this review please dont let your children or their friends book this hotel and please dont book it if your looking for a good holiday!!!
the worst hotel ever!! i can honestly say that we have never been thrown out of a hotel before and it will never happen agian because next time we are booking a something much better with not one bad review.
seriously pleaase never go here!!

Overall a good holiday.

I have just come back from here and was dreading it as I have read so many bad reviews. The reception area was bright and clean and we were checked in very quickly. The apartment itself was a good size and was very clean. The bathroom was also clean and quite big with a bath and a shower over the bath. I have to say the bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept in (or not slept as the case may be) but I put a blanket over the mattress which made it slightly better. The balconey was big and ours looked out to the front and the hills in the distance. The room was self catering but I would advise people to take that with a pinch of salt and base it as room only as, although there's a fridge and hob you have to hire kettles and toasters and there's not a lot of room to prepare a meal. We ate out every night so it wasn't a problem. We did have breakfast there one morning and there was a large choice of food but my boyfriend had a stomach upset after eating the scrambled eggs so we didn't bother again. The pool is fantastic, clean, of a good size and with loads of sunloungers. The only problem is the area around the pool isn't really big enough so everyone is crowded together. Consequently we went down to the beach most days. The hotel itself is well placed to be close enough to Palma Nova to walk in about 5 minutes but far enough away to be quiet at night. It was also only a short taxi or bus ride away to Magaluf, although you could also walk it if you prefered. The hotel caters for all ranges of people but it seemed that it was predominantly young groups of people staying there who could be a bit noisy, particularly when coming in at night, but didn't bother anyone else. The hotel staff were quite friendly when we had queries and the bar staff were good too. Drinks at the hotel bar were very competitive compared to the bars in the main resort. I was expecting a large mark up but they were about the same or even cheaper. The bar was also open until 1am so it was a great way to finish a night out. All in all the hotel was fine. I probably wouldn't stay there again but only because I'd go to another part of the island next time.

Asbolute Dump - do not stay here.

Booked this hotel with a popular web based internet booker. It is on the very edge of Palma Nova, away from the main centre and as a result can be quite spooky at night. My friend and I walked along the beachfront at 1am and were harassed by 2 creepy men and no-one else was around at the height of the season.

The hotel was falling apart. Our air con leaked water from the ceiling onto the sink and fridge and no-one came to repair it despite reporting it. We had to beg the maids to give us extra towels to soak up the water in addition to pans. The actual air con was barely cool. The phone didn't work nor did the patio light. The bins only got emptied once in 5 days. The patio furniture was mouldy and chairs broken. The view was of a dense mass of trees. The shower was broken and bath rusty. The patio door didn't lock and nearly fell apart when opened.

The corridors were carpeted and I don't think the edges had ever been hoovered. We saw condoms, food, rubbish etc strewn around them. The corridors stunk horribly. Big nails stuck out of the sides of the carpet too. The lift felt like it would snap so we avoided it. The top floor was full of drunken teenagers on their first holidays and as a result there was no sleep to be had whatsoever until they had finished partying, usually around 8am. Each room only had 1 key card so teenagers were constantly banging on each others doors at all hours.

The pool was OK, but surrounded by very noisy, drunk teenagers at all times and most of the sunbeds were threadbare and chairs broke.

There were lots of wheelchairs around the hotel with many severely disabled guests, which gave the hotel the feeling of being a care home instead of a holiday destination. I don't want this to sound harsh, it's just how my group felt as this is not usual. You always see a few wheelchairs around, but there were an unusual amount here.

All in all, it was an absolute dump and would not recommend to my worst enemy.
