We would like to travel from Barcelona to either Mallorca or Ibiza... what are the Ferry Boats or what transporation is there ... any suggestions on hotels at either location....

We are considering a Cruise in Jan of 2009 to: Tunisia, Athens, Rhodes, Cyprus, Egypt, Malta from Barcelona.... anyone know what the weather might be like in early Jan....

Thank you....

Hello,

There are 3 companies doing the trip by boat: Balearia (www.balearia.net), acciona (www.trasmediterranea.es) and Iscomar (www.iscomar.com). If you do the travel to Menorca at night: book a cabin. I found it extremely difficult to sleep in the chairs of the common room.

About the islands, I never been to Ibiza, but Menorca is quite nice. Good small beaches, not that crowded and interesting. I heard Ibiza is a bit over developed.

I stayed in Blancala Apartments in Cala Blanca. The apartments were cheap, had a nice swimming pool and are next to the sea in a quiet but nice location.

Have a nice trip!

I think the ferry line we took was baleria... www.baleria.com it was really rocky and my friend got sick so take your sea sick tablets if your prone to get sick!!!

As for Ibiza there are so many appartments to choose from, the one i stayed at was marco polo which was about 50mtrs from the clubs Eden and Es Paridis which was perfect for staggering home in the early hours... Look on hostelworld.com there are heaps of apartments on there... All pretty cheap, from €20-30 per person per night
Youd either stay in San Antonio or Ibiza town... Both very different. San Antonio is full of British people where as Ibiza town is more spanish and other nationalities... BUT i recommend San Antonio as there is soooo much to do there not only clubs but in the day time as well.

Mallorca is awsome too, stay in Palma, there is a major party scene there too... ALMOST as good as IBIZA just not as many brits, heaps of german holiday makers. If you havnt booked anything when you get there, go to the info point in the city centre and they are helpful with hotels to stay in, there are heaps in the area and range from about €50-70 for a double room

I take it that these ferries are cheaper to book than airlines? Is it still cheaper to book a cabin, as someone recommended for sleeping, than air travel?
