More about Fiesta Hotel Cala Nova
Right first off the good points ¨
Rooms very good, Food Fantastic, Air con a bonus cleanliness is very good.
Drinks prices are ridiculous, this is where these guys make there money. Over a quid per small coke yeah right u are boys, 3 euros for a beer hehehe
Mornings, well you cant really have any unless that is you get up pre 9am, mind this is your holidays, why may you ask, well u see all the rooms have tiled floors with wooden furniture and when the cleaners clean jesus do they clean, its like thunder over head at the side and from below. For gods sake all this needs to fix it issome 5 pence sticky pads on the feet of the furniture. Put it this way dont expect to sleep in, in the mornings.
Did my Head in.....
We've just had a lovely week's holiday at the Cala Nova, which is graded 4T by Thomson, even though it's officially a 3*. Though we only booked a week prior to travelling, we requested, and were allocated, a room with probably the best views available.
The hotel location is superb, right on a quiet, clean beach, with lovely views over the pine forests and the bay, from the pool area and the rooms overlooking the pool.
The room we had was fine, a bit small, but had everyting we needed, and the bathroom was of a good standard, and very clean. Luckily, our room was at the end of the hotel nearest to the beach and pool, but the rooms in the middle of the hotel would probably be noisy, as the lifts were here too.
The food was excellent, the usual buffet meals, but of a very high standard, with plenty of choices for all tastes, well labelled - better than the 4* hotels we usually stay at, actually. A buffet was laid out for the late arrivals, which was much appreciated.
It was apparent to us that the 3* grading was due to the very dated lounge and reception areas - they were clean, but old-fashioned, and gave a bad first impression upon arrival, which we revised once we saw the view, and dined in the restaurant.
The pool and terraces were not big enough to cater for all the guests at this busy time of year, but would be fine when it's not peak season, the usual scrum for the best positions took place every morning by 0800 - the sun loungers are not adjustable though, so take a cushion! No pool towels are available, either.
We upgraded to the 'all-inclusive' drinks option, a bargain at 13 euros a day, given the bar prices - this is not widely advertised, and others we spoke to were peeved that they were unaware of it.
A courtesy room was available for showering and changing on the last day, book it the day before you leave, or you won't get the time you want.
Overall, very pleasantly surprised by how good this hotel was, and happy to recommend it.
Only one problem with this hotel, the reps evening entertainment
Only one problem with this hotel, the reps evening entertainment . They performed Moulin Rouge and Dracula. Despite a lot of effort on their part the shows were a complete waste of time. The only good thing was that they managed to clear the indoor lounge and free up chairs! That apart I could not fault the hotel, the food was good with a good variety at each meal. Ample room around the pool areas including a grassy area if you wanted a shady quieter rest. Situated in a quiet area of Es Cana it is a pleasant stroll into the main part of the resort. Try the Jacaranda (near the harbour) for excellent lunches.
this was our second stay at the cala nova both times in the first week of october.
once again another great holiday.good food with plenty of choice both for breakfast and dinner.
the rooms are well looked after by the maids,we had a great sea view from the third floor.
some of the evening entertainment cuold have been better but the entertainment team of paco, fay & nita were superb.
the location of the hotel just above cala nova beach and only a short walk from es cana is great.
we recognised several faces from last year and listening to other people who return year after year is the best recommendation i can give.
go and enjoy yourself.
Best Holiday Ever!
This is one of the best holidays I have ever had previously stayed in May 2004 when me and my now husband got engaged! We went last year and we have now just booked again to visit in May 2007! The resort is just the right distance from San Antonio if thats not your kind of thing or just a taxi ride away if you want to visit the old town etc! The hotel itself is superb - fantastic food really helpful and polite staff especially Gonzalos the waiter and Faye and Paco the entertainers! Can't wait to see them all again in May! The hotel is spotless and the pool area is beautiful with gorgeous views over the cala nova beach and mediterranean sea!
'unremarkable but right for us'
Myself, husband and 2 1/2 year old stayed here for a week half board. We were told by our travel agent that this was an 'unremarkable hotel'. However, we were undeterred and on the strength of the Trip advisor reviews felt quietly confident.
We arrived late and there was no loud music or sounds of merriment and yes, the settees and chairs were a little 'jaded'.
This set the tone, as although we were in a room above the bar, it was a really quiet hotel. Yes, the furniture scraped the floor and the cleaners were enthusiastic in their cleaning.
The food was plentiful, staff friendly and helpful - the dining room clean and hotel guests really polite and the kids so well-behaved.
All in all if you want a holiday by the beach with all facilities and no wild nights then this is the place to go.
Great fun. Food very good but very much the same day in and day out. Great entertainment staff, although a bit amatuer. Reception staff not very friendly and not really helpful. Great location. Bar and restaurant staff very sweet but have limited english. Although rooms are air-conditioned, it does not work!!! On all floors despite the exuses reception makes. If you like charter ts great! Hotel is in great need of renovation but pool and location is great!
Just returned after a decent holiday with my wife, both in their 60,s. Very quiet hotel at night, no bars etc. nearby. Vast quantities of food at dinner, never really struggled for a table or saw many queues, but found drinks very costly. The all-inclusive drinks package, at 13 euros each, per day, just was not good value though, due to the terrible entertainment which meant going out in the evening, and spending in the village, which gets a bit off a drag due to the 15 mins walk. Great pool, with lifegaurd, but sunbeds old and hard with no backrest, not good enough for the standard off hotel that Thomson claim. Fiesta need to spend some cash here.
worst fiesta hotel to date
returned with my wife on 27 june 2007 after 2 week stay at this hotel .fiesta hotels we have stayed in the past have been first class this was not the case here though.most the staff were very rude ,unfriendly,&the hotel is of very poor decor .we booked with thompsom direct as a 4t favorite but was very upset with the standard.getting our room cleaned &bed sheets changed also was a problem .the drinks are of poor quality although we paid extra for drinks inclusive package.we are in our 50 s¬ big drinkers but found wine etc undrinkable with our meals so approached the director to pay difference to get better wine .we were refused at first but insisted the wine was so rough it was undrinkable.the food was not of the standard we have been used to in other fiesta hotels ,&supplies were constantly running out so you had to be smartish to get what you wanted when there, even things as basic as bread.
this hotel was poor in staffing ,food ,cleanliness, poor entertainment poor quality drinks etc &would not,not ,go here again.
We stayed here in July for a week, we met lots of people who have been to this hotel many times and one couple were on their 29th visit!
Stunning location for us as we really liked the beach we walked from our sunbeds to the beach several times a day to cool down and then back to the pool to sunbathe, we never once had aproblem getting sunbeds although a lot of people got up at the crack of dawn to reserve them and then typically never used them until the afternoon.
The sunbeds are fine ok they do not adjust but just take an inflatable pillow no problem,
The food was good not brilliant but there was always a good choice it was hot and plenty of it.
The all inclusive option well worth the 13 euros a day,
Did not bother with the entertainment.
The room was bright and cheerful very clean and our air conditioning worked fine.
We visited the nearby camp shop and bought baguettes for lunch which were delicious we also bought chilled sparkling cava there which certainly led to some afternoon naps on the sunbed
We thoroughly chilled out here and if I was one for going back to the same hotel I would certainly consider it especially for the location.
