    This clean and functional Pension is in the heart of the Old Town area and a short walk from the beach, surrounded by Tapas bars and pubs. The pension has rooms in other buildings around the town. Our room was in another building and we had 2 bathrooms (with bath and shower) between 5 of us, shared with only 1 other room. The staff were very friendly and the beds were comfortable and clean. Take ear plugs as the rooms are noisy!

    Clean and functional 2 star hotel in the centre of the Old Town district of Bilbao, and a 20 minute riverside walk from the Museo Guggenheim. We took an internal room (away from street noise) with a private bathroom. It was perfectly fine and the staff were very friendly and informative.

    • Very friendly staff who barely speak English but who is really trying to make an effort; we've ended up talking in Spanglish and everything went fine. The Rooms of the Executive Lounge section are totally separated from the rest of the hotel. We had a room on the top floor with a horrible view (the roof of the adjacent building). The room was pretty large and freshly redesigned. Modern interiors, a flat screen TV would have make the room perfect.
    Excellent soundproofing, very clean rooms and bathrooms.

    The hotel is pretty far from the Casco Viejo (The old town) but is within the modern part of the city (5min walk from Plaza Moyuia). It is conveniently located close to the San Mames stadium (home field of the Athletic Bilbao) and at walking distance from the Guggenheim Museum.

    • This hotel is really easy to get to if you use the Metro (Santutxu station). If you have the heebie-geebies about going underground, there is a Bilbobus stop a few yards away from the hotel entrance. The hotel room was spacious, clean and quiet. We were on a r/o basis and didn't bother using any other facilities, especially as the Spa area is extra and we wanted to tire ourselves in the city and not in the gym. The hotel has a modern air. The front desk staff were cordially professional, but did not effuse much warmth. I would stay here again because it was everything we wanted, 4 Star comfort with facilities, and charges applied, only if we required them.

    • I have just booked this hotel for March 2008 through lastminute.com (under their Top Secret category). I have received an excellent room only rate of £41.00 per room per night (double room). The hotel's website gives a best rate of Euros 75.00, so I would recommend my method of booking. I am pleased to read the good reviews on the level of service and look forward to an interesting 4 days in Bilbao.

    Value for money, 4 star hotel and excellent facilites. Ten minutes walk from the Guggenheim Museum.

    • It's at the river, near the Guggenheim Museum and the most interesting things of the city, like the Arriaga Theatre, The Old Town, and the Deusto University. The bus to the airport (Bilboko Sondika Aireportua) is very close too. The hotel is very nice too, with comfortable rooms and nice personal.

    • It was just a one night stay in 2001 but what a night! No complains at all... It might just be me not used to being in fancy hotels and especially not after a long and tiresom coach ride, but it was heaven. Big soft beds, lovely showers and pencils to take along on your further journey ;)
    I don´t know what the prices were (it was an arranged tour), but I can imagine it´s not at all cheap...

    • When I wrote this tip, there was a hotel shortage in Bilbao. This is not the case now, although it can be difficult to find accomodation at peak times, and the accomodation tends towards the upper end of the market. More hotels are still being built, such as a new IBIS hotel in General Concha.

    Just check that the hotel you have found is in Bilbao. Some things sold as Bilbao can be out of town and may not be convenient for the city.

    • This hotel oppened on September so it was all new. Pleasant service, nice decor and the closest hotel to the Exhibition Center.
    The hotel had a 4-5 star Restaurant with really good food if you are willing to pay for it. We had dinner for about 55 euros for both of us w/o wine, but we liked it., Saturday morning we had breakfast at the bar, where we had cofee and a cream roll that was great, but there was a Buffet breakfast for 11 euros per person. There was a Chimney in the middle of the bar that gave a great ambience to it and a bit of warmth since it was a cold weekend.
    Over all we found thata it was good quality for price and comvinience, and were pleased with employees.

    Room: Big scenn TCT TV, great decor, confortable bed (latex matress), huge bathroom with shower and bathtub separated. Minibar, free cofee service with water heater. Safe. Hairdryer. And a sofa (Room 620).

    Room service, Restaurant, Bar, Outdoor swimmingpool. Fireplace in bar. Everything new.
    10 minute walk to Exhibition Center.
