New hotel opposite Guggenheim

Hesperia Bilbao stands on the riverbank almost exactly opposite Guggenheims. A beautiful, but slippery when raining, pedestrian bridge across the river straight to shopping in the city centre.
There is a bar that is popular and has a good view over the river, I can recommend that.
Also there is a restaurant that is a bit pricy and where they try a bit too much in the kitchen, dishes are too complicated, mostly in vain. Although we did have a desert of anchovis and icecream that was surprisingly good. (sic)
They have twocomputers for hotelguests in the lobby. They charge 4 euros for 30 minutes and the week we were there at least one of them was broken all the time. And so was the printer. Also the connection was not that good.
Ask for a room with a view over the river, otherwise you end up staring at a dull backyard. Some of the rooms have a kind of closed in balcony indifferent lollipop colours which is very nice.
Some of the floors are supposed to be non-smoking but they still reek of tobacco.
The one thing that we really did NOT like was the design bathroom with a see-through glas wall to the hall area and the room. Now, who needs to be seen while in the bathroom? We found that very disturbing, it's seemingly a trendy thing with these glas walls but I like a little bit of privacy...

Unique Quality: Across the river, facing downtown and Guggenheims.
Short walking distance to shopping.
Several nice bars in the neighbourhood.
But be ware - the bathroom has seethrough glas walls.

MULTI-COLORED VENTANAS

We had a most enjoyable 2-night stay and wish it could have been longer. Originally, I had just made the reservation for one night, but reception was able to add the second night with no problems at virtually the same as the internet rate. Our room wasn't large, but had everything needed, including a good size flat screen TV with international channels (includg CNN), desk for computer and FREE WIFI,quiet refrigerator, plenty of closet space, safe in the closet, and the bathroom was large and all modern fixtures and lovely toiletries.
Parking is available, but is expensive and we lucked out to get a space on the road, right next to the hotel, which was free, being a weekend. WE only had to spend 2 Euros for a couple hours on Monday morning!

Nice bar area, which unfortunately we had no time to enjoy. Extensive breakfast buffet for additional cost.

The entire hotel is nicely done, quiet and very pleasant!! We had an inside room, opening onto a deep courtyard, but it was reasonably priced. The window opened if you wished, but also a good air-con system and blackout curtains.

There are Hesperia Hotels in many other cities throughout ESPANIA--may be well worth checking out!

Unique Quality: Easily recognizable on the road, as the VENTANAS/WINDOWS are done in multi-color!
