Although technically not in La Rioja, wine is very important in Laguardia. There are many bodegas in the area (one designed by Santiago Calatrava) and some good shops in town.
Laguardia itself, on top of a hill, has narrow streets lined with historic buildings. And it has one star attraction: the Santa Maria de los Reyes. This church alone merits a visit.
