ok for business travels
When you enter Barcelo Costa Vasca you feel like being there before, simply because it's the kind of hotel you can find in every western (and not only) European cities. Receptionists speak fluent English (and even Italian), breakfast is served from 7 am to 10 pm, swimming pool and room service are available, parking is also available (at 20 euros per day)...everything works and it is regular so. Basic room is not big but very efficient. Actually I've made a great mistake in booking such impersonal hotel after staying in nice French chambres d'hotes, but I was not able to find any bed and breakfast in San Sebastian on the web. Anyway, too far from the beaches and to the night life.

Lousy service
Unfortunately, the staff support is probably the worst we have come across in many, many years. Sunday morning we came down to the restaurant where they were serving a buffet. All we wanted was a coffee and were told that no, they could not serve us. We then went up to the desk to ask the clerk there if they had a "coffee" bar and were told, nothing till 11 am and so you will have to walk 10 min down the street.
I have never been refused a coffee in any hotel before, all it meant was that they poured the coffee in our cup and charged our room. The room was half empty!

Barcelo Hotel Costa Vasca
This pleasant four star hotel has changed hands to now be part of the Barcelo Group.
It is a pleasant hotel with plenty of space in the rooms and a bar with bar menu (you may need to ask to see it).
Unique Quality: It has an outdoor pool open in summer. Rooms have balconies.
