Parte Vieja
by unexplored
Where the younger backpackers go, the parte vieja is brimming with reasonably priced pensiones and restaurants. Its proximity to Playa de La Concha and the port makes this area a prime nightspot; scores of places offer a night's sleep above loud tapas bars.
The Big Week
by bushes39
The second week in August is a festival week in San Sebastian known as 'la semana grande' (the big week). There is a lot of fun to be had during this week. The town fills up with people from all over (especially France and England). There is an international fireworks comptetion (a nightly shaming of any 4th of July fireworks display you'll ever see), concerts spread throughout the city, outdoor theatre performances, shows aimed for kids, and much much more. Book stuff early for this one (or sleep on the beach with everyone else).
El Sagrado Corazón
by mikey_e
The Sagrado Corazón is the name of the giant statue of Jesus that adorns the top of Mount Urgull. It was erected in 1950, long after the Castillo de la Mota was built. The statue is by no means a rival in size to the one in Rio de Janeiro or even in Lisbon, but it does somehow provide a bit of perspective on the height from which you look down on the city. You have to go through the largest chapel in the Castillo de la Mota in order to reach the observation deck just below the statue, and from there you can walk up to the base. It appeared that there was actually another chapel at Jesus’ feet, but it wasn’t open and I got the impression that it was only used for specific special occasions. Nevertheless, whatever your views on religious symbols in public, visiting the Sagrado Corazón is a must. The views onto Santa Klarako Uharte (the small island at the mouth of La Concha), the sea and the beach are breathtaking and will undoubtedly provide you with those one or two photographs you proudly display to anyone asking you about your trip to Donostia.
Plaza de la Constitución

This is a beautiful square, not as beautiful as placa reial in BCN, but nice enough to sit down and sip some txakoli wine and eat some pintxos. The numbers on the houses refer to the time that this quare was a bullring.
Donostia - European Copacabana

"Beach in the Center of Town"
The site of San Sebastian on the South coast of the Biskayan Gulf is ecellent for surfers and sun-takers because of the long sandy beach. Almost whole of the coast in the front of the town is a common and frequently used beach, paradice the the sun-takers. Very few large cities in the whole world can offer such a possibility.
