GREAT SERVICE, NICE PEOPLE

Unique Quality: IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT ADJUSTS TO ANY POCKET AND THAT IS GOOD MAINTAINED, CLEAN AND GOOD LOCATED, THEN THE 'RECORD' HOTEL IS PERFECT FOR YOU. NICE ROOMS, GREAT SERVICE AND CLOSE TO THE 'ZURRIOLA' BEACH.
ONLY 10 MIN. WALK FROM 'PARTE VIEJA' (OLD PART OF THE CITY), BUT IF YOU CANNOT WALK OR DON'T WANT TO, THE BUS STOP IS CLOSE TO THE HOTEL.

Relatively cheap hotel

Few minutes walking from the city center and the beaches, this is among the cheapest hotels in the city. Rooms are comfortable and the atmosphere friendly. Easy to park a car.

Unique Quality: In a city were logment is very expensive, this is one of the cheapest alternatives.

  • Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

Where to stay Bilbao or San Sebastian?

by venus086

I am thinking of traveling to The Basque Country this year with my boyfriend, and I am unsure of where to reside while I'm there, I really like the city life, with plenty of bars and good music scenes, with lovely scenery too, any help would be great in making my decision.

San Sebastian is prettier. Bilbao is very nice but its usually not "a first sight love". You will find good bars in both, I've no idea about the music scene

If you have to decide between these two great cities, choose San Sebastian. San Sebastian is slightly smaller than Bilbao, situated in a very beautifull la Concha bay, plenty of bars and restaurants, great local culinary scene (among the best in europe) and great scenery. Nightlife is good on both Bilbao and San Sebastian depending of course on what you´re looking for. San Sebastian has the advantage that it is on the coast, Bilbao is few kilometres inland, so moving around on the beautifull northern Spanish coast is bit easier from here than it is from Bilbao specially if you don´t have a car.

I agree with the above replies - San Sebastian is a lovely city and a great place to base yourself to explore the Basque Country but Bilbao s definitely worth a visit for the Guggenheim museum alone.

Thanks ever so much for you replies, I am def considering San Sebastian now, I would love if you have any ideas on accommodation there in the city centre or near, I would be on a budget though say no more than 500 euro for the week for two people, any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks Ann x

There´s another simple but very convenient Hotel in San Sebastian: Hotel Record just outside Zurriola Beach (500 metres or so), at Calzada Vieja 35. Well connected to the rest of the town.
