Hotel Bahia Principe: view on Mount Teide (3718 m)

From the swimming pools of Hotel Bahia Principe, the impressive Mount Teide (3718 m) can be seen. Teide is the highest mountain of Spain (higher than any mountain in the Pyrenees or Sierra Nevada), and is usually snow-covered in winter-time.

This picture shows the lower swimming pool, seen from the higher swimming pool.

The pool extends quite some distance to the right, outside the picture.

The take-away type restaurant on the left is open until midnight, but when the lights (white TL tubes) are switched on it is no longer an attractive place to sit and relax. Unfortunately.

Outstanding Hotel Loved it!!

by TripAdvisor Member TJKO

We went to Bahia Principe Tenerife in March 2005. Its was exactly as described and we had absolutely no problems what so ever with this hotel. We found the food to be enjoyable, loved the amount of fresh fruit on offer with every meal. Yes the food at the poolside bar was limited but with the amount of food on offer at breakfast lunch and dinner there was really no need for much more!! My children were happy with the hot dogs anyway. I thought it was fantastic that the mini bar was free in the room and contained proper coke, normal and diet and fanta etc very handy when you have children.

The staff were nothing but friendly and polite and always gave our 2 children a lot of attention, even when they dropped the occassional drink!!

Our room was very clean and tidy, even when we had left it in a bit of a mess!! i can never make beds the same as they do!!

The location is the only downside to the hotel but did not spoil our holiday, if you dont mind doing a bit of walking then you can venture out or you could do as we did and take advantage of the free bus service to Playa de las Americas.

We never experienced any problems with sun beds or towels, or any other of the problems mentioned by others but maybe we are easily pleased! i think not!

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! we are returning in august 06.

5-star price for a 3-star hotel

We've spent a week in the Bahia Principe.
Our kids loved the pool and the stay was very much OK for them (age 7 and 9) alhtough they would have enjoyed a scoop of fresh ice-cream.

Rooms are what one can expect from a 4-star hotel.
Each day fresh towels and the rooms were clean.
The mini-bar which was included in the all-inclusive formula but was poorly filled.

All-inclusive (meals and drinks)
The all-inclusive looks promising but was somehow disappointing: only local alcoholic drinks were included (and cocktails tasted not like the real thing ) and in between meals there was not much edible to find in the hotel besides hot-dog, toast cheese-ham, chips.
On the other hand the buffet restaurant was really good. We've tried also the Mexican, Asian and Italian restaurant ala carte. The Italian was the best of the lot, but anyhow the overall food quality is better in the buffet restaurant. All the three restaurants had very disappointing main course served at te table.
NEW YEARS' EVE was a real threat in the buffet restaurant. Outstanding!

Personal and Staff
Animation in the evening was OK. In the day-time was it fairly low. But that didn't bordered because if you wanted more animation, you've just had to stroll to the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje and you had a very lively and noisy animation over there.
Reception desk was ok. All waiters and cleaners always are giving you the typical friendly 'Ola!'.

Pool shairs are being reservated with towels (God I hate that!) although local regulations forbid that.
You can get towels at the pool kiosk and change them at your likings but beware that there are only about 50 fresh towels each day to be divided between 700 rooms!!!

The best way to get around the island is to rent a car. (Although I suspect the tour operators to say to the tourists that there aren't any so they can sell overpriced excusions!).

Good hotel for families with small children but in this price range there are better places to stay on this island.

This was our 2nd visit to the Costa Adeje Hotel, and it was even better that the 1st visit in 2004. Our highlight was the entertainment team, they work tirelessly to make each day and evening as enjoyable as they can. If you want to join in you can, if you don't, they leave you alone. My family and I loved to join in and we had an absolutely BRILLIANT holiday.

The food was top drawer, especially the Mexican (you've got to try the Jalapeno Peppers -they are to die for!) They also kept on topping up your glass and bringing tequila slammers to our table!

The childrens clubs were fabulous and my 5 year old daughter and 6 year old nephew loved the mini club. They especially loved the mini play back show, where my nephew performed in a mini version of Grease Lightning - absolutely excellent!

The staff throughout the hotel were nothing but courteous, helpful, polite and cheerful. The staff in all restaurants were great, and we got to meet our lovely cleaner, Meri, who cleaned the room to an exceptionally high standard (loved the towel swans!)

Always plenty of sunbeds. Fresh clean towels every day from the spa. Always fresh clean towels in your room every day. Mini bar restocked with water, crisps and beer each day. You could have a drink whenever you liked and the sangria at the pool bar is really refreshing.

We loved the hotel, and have booked to go back again in 2006. Met lots of people who are return visitors and who we hope to see again December 2006.

DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATION AT THE BAHIA PRINCIPE. But if you don't like joining in or prefer a quiter holiday, then you may want to ask to stay in the Tenerife Hotel, as opposed to the Costa Adeje.

Excellent hotel and holiday

Have just returned from spending half term week at the Bahia Principe. Two adults (forty something) one male child (7 years). All had a very enjoyable stay - can't fault the hotel, the cleanliness (maids even cleaned the external plant pots!!), the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, or the food and drink! Book your a-la carte restaurants on arrival - we ate in the spanish and mexican restaurants and enjoyed our meals. Room was superb - good views, quiet, excellent shower, double wash basin etc; If staying more than a week the location would have been a problem - but this is well advertised and you have no reason to leave the complex - unless you want to shop. From the infinity pool overlooking the sea to the Tenerife block took us less than 10 minutes to walk - but you will benefit from it after eating all that food!!A 20 - 30 minute walk to Playa Paraiso where you can find bars, ATM, supermarket, pharmacy etc; The complex 'beach' is not up to much but we enjoyed a few beers on the sunbeds after the walk to Playa Paraiso!! Never saw the entertainment so can't comment - quite happy to sit in the lobby bar and have a coffee & liquer - son quite happy to play pool or meet up with his friends he met in the pool. Hotel was fully booked whilst we were there but you could still find a sunbed. The ones around the pool get taken very early, but there is a stack of them if you look, to put where you like. The endless hotdogs, slush puppies, and ice cream were a big hit with our son and the fact he could be independent and get one when he wanted one! Pigeons were around but didn't cause a problem - a quick splash of water swiftly got rid of them. Would return again without doubt.

An excellent place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member Anonyimouse

There are 2 hotels next to each other and you can use the facilities in either. We stayed in the Adeje part. The property is isolated, and there is nothing noteworthy to walk to in the area.A good thing for us as we took the bus run by the hotel to Las Americas on one day and were glad when we came back that we stayed here in the peace and quiet.

A good range all presented well and fresh and tasty.
There a A La Cate restaurants that you can book also.
We tried the Aisian 8/10,Italian 10/10,and the Fish 9/10.Eating in these restaurants is included in the price and is worthwhile if only to stop you from eating too much as they are the only places to eat where portion control is excersized!
There is a real danger that you might explode from over indulgence!!Thank goodness that you get all day to lay on a lounger to digest your food.
The food was consistantly good with no varience in quality.
There are pidgeons wandering about in some of the restaurants but they were not a problem at all.

There are drinks available all day and night 24hrs also during the day Slush puppy machines are available by the pools.
Cava and wine are availble in all the restaurants.
Spirits are availble in the bars and on large tables to save queuing at the bar.
Coffee was also available 24hrs.NB if you want a good cup of tea take some Tea bags with you!Mini bar in your room is refilled daily

Very clean and comfortable, the bed was huge!!
The only downside was the cowboy doors for the toilet, the springs were very stiff so watch out they don't slap you on the way in!!

On the whole good.
If you want to join in you will love it,if you don't they leave you alone.

No problem getting a loungers or parasols, however towels were in short supply on a couple of days.

In the square there are some shops, they are not significantly more expensive than in Las Americas.

Get you cigarettes on the plane they are cheaper than on the island if you fly with 1st Choice.

had a brilliant week here staff very pleasant and friendly.Hotel absolutely gorgeous!Thought i was at the Ritz.Maybe the woman who said she ended up on the toilet all week drank too much beer (i know i did!) The food was brilliant loads to chose from lots of variety of different foods all cooked well.couple of draw backs are that it is miles from anywhere but was already expecting that! And not much entertainment in tenerife block at night. Apart from that anything else wonderful.Would definately go back. some of the foreign guests there were very snobby but we didn't let them spoil our fun!

This place is top drawer

I stayed at the Costa Adeje block of this hotel in September 05. I have to admit I was a little nervous about going all inclusive, as I can be very critical about food, but I can't find one word of complaint. The buffet was excellent, with teams of cooks replenishing the buffet and cooking fresh meat on the griddle. The a la carte restaurants were even better. I can't say that I had one bad meal throughout my stay there. The rest of the hotel just completed a fantastic package. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff extremely helpful and polite. As far as I am concerned the only thing that stops this hotel being a 5* hotel is that there is no room service, which truly makes no difference at all. You are never more than 5 minutes walk away from food or drink and the mini bar in your room is free! I liked it that much I've booked again to go this year.
