Take your time & walk along the beautiful promenade all the way along from Costa Adeje to Los Cristianos, it'll take about 90 mins, but there is plenty to see.

Excellent Value for the money

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Costa Adeje Gran Hotel is probably the cheapest 5 star hotel in Tenerife.

If you are used to staying in the very best and more expensive hotels then you will be dissapointed.
That said, The hotel offers excellent value for money however, it's the same old story. You get what you pay for. At under £600 for a week HB it's not a lot of money really when you think that that includes flights, accomodation and transfers. All staff need paying including the pilot and chambermaids, so all things considered it was not expensive.

The rooms are lovely and clean with all the comforts needed for a week in the sun. The pools were pleasant, the staff were friendly, OK the food wasn't great but unless you want to pay for a-la-carte then thats pretty much normal holiday hotel buffet food- you can always eat out!

In truth, I'd say that the facilities are definatley a good 4 star standard.
You have to bear in mind that with holidaymakers demanding cheaper and cheaper deals, budgets are tight which can, in my opinion, at the end of the day mean that compromises must be made which usually affects the quality somewhere along the line.
If I had paid £1000pp for a week, I'd have been dissapointed, but I didn't and was very happy that we got what we paid for. I knew that it couldn't be absolute luxury by the price we paid!
If You are trully looking for a luxury holiday, then try the Villa Cortes, but you will pay more for it.

At the end of the day though Tenerife is a holiday Island, full of tourists and not the most luxurious place in the world. If it's real luxury you're looking for then try The Orient or better still Dubai where you will really live it up!

The Costa adeje Gran is decent accomodation at a good price, but it's not my idea of a 5 star hotel, however, if you do your homework before you go and visit sites like this one then you'll be fully informed.

In all, a good value week in the sunshine!

Beautiful hotel

by TripAdvisor Member curlygirl

I went to the Costa Adeje Gran late last year and it is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are spacious and very well decorated, only problem was our room faced onto the hotel next door which wasn't that great!

Would thoroughly recommend the hotel but on a bed and breakfast basis as the food was not great. We were half board but ate out most nights, there is plenty of restaurants in Costa Adeje and not too expensive either.

We went to Playa De Las Americas most nights so couldn't really comment on the entertainment, hotel bar is quite expensive though we had 2 drinks which cost us 18 euros !!!!

I would go back to the hotel for sure as we had a really great time.

Solid 5* Property

by TripAdvisor Member NoelDillon

I enjoyed a pleasant week in this hotel in January. The weather could have been a little better, but that was not the hotel's fault!

The hotel is in a quiet, upmarket part of the very hectic and tacky resort of Play de las Americas. Its location is one of its great strengths. Far enough away for comfort and accessible to the bustle either by a manageable walk or short taxi hop.

The hotel itself is very large and spread out, with lots of facilities. I loved the large bedroom and fine bathroom I had (it was the basic one). I also loved the small pool and sundeck on the roof, which was an alternative to the much larger selection of pools on level 0 (reception is on level -2). The views were amazing from the roof and the smallness of the deck area, charming. Restaurants in the hotel were very good and breakfast was top class. Good room service also. Overall the staff were charming and the service excellent.

This hotel falls down somewhat, in my view, by virtue of its sheer size and the openness of its architecture. Its impossible not to feel that it's an impersonal place despite the best efforts of staff and management.

Nevertheless, I would be happy to return and know I would enjoy it.

very poor hotel no way 5*

stayed at this hotel feb 25th for 1 week. the food at this hotel is horrible i wouldnt give it to my cat let alone the wild ones going around the streets. beware of all the building work going on close to the hotel very loud. the drinks are all over priced cost me 12 euros for two baileys. the hotel is around 3.5 star thats being nice no way 5 star.

lovely comfortable hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I stayed for week at this hotel in february. I had looked at the reviews on this website beforehand and had mixed reservations. When we arrived first impressions were excellent and the service we received at reception was also excellent. The hotel appeared very clean and after being given our room we were most impressed. A very large room and a huge en-suite. The maid service was excellent. Bed linen changed every other day and towels changed on a daily basis. The only complaint is that there were no tea/coffee making facilites. The food was excellent, something for everyones taste. The hotel did not have many activities in the day but entertainment was very good in the evening. This may be because it was out of season. The only other complaint was that the hotel was very open and therefore vary cold in the evening. This also may be due to the fact that the weather in February has also been very cold this year. Overall an excellent hotel and would definetely visit again.

Gorgeous hotel

Stayed here, B&B, last June. Spaceous rooms with high ceilings. Bathrooms have double sinks, a huge mirror, a seperate toilet inside the bathroom and a big bath/power shower. We had a balcony over the swimming pool right in the centre and i think it was possibly the best room with the best view.
A couple of tips - don't book this hotel through a travel agent, as it's too expensive. Book on-line through Alpharooms and Monarch airlines. They are the lowest prices at the minute. Then when you get there, there is a taxi rank at the airport and a taxi to the hotel costs about €20-€25.

Also the food is not great there so i advise to book bed and breakfast and eat out. Lots of restaurants around. Theres a Chinese restaurant diectly next door. Theres also a supermarket next door, and a taxi ride into PDLA costs between €5-€10 where there are many places to eat. A nice place is Harleys American Diner, it has a helicopter and vintage cars outside and is a american restaurant and cocktail bar inside.

Love this hotel and am returning again July this year, but this time paying half the price!

Good...but not great!

by TripAdvisor Member mattiboy69

To sum up this hotel..and its all pretty much been said before(reading a few of the reviews!)

1)DONT expect 5star food,service or fittings
2)DO try and get a room overlooking the pool,on one of the higher floors
3)DO go Bed and Breakfast..the food wasnt all that bad..but definitely not 5star
4)DO use the roof top pool..cute,calm and great views
5)DO go down and explore Playa del Duque beach....great for people watching....and a drink
6)DO book on the internet to get some great last-minute bargains

This hotel is fantastic value and a good base for daytrips...close to shops, restaurants etc....On the flipside, the quality has obviously been "diluted" to cater to "lower-end" tourists....plenty of tattoos, beer bellies and football shirts.

Dont go expecting the earth..if you want 5star then try the new Sheraton down the road. However its spotlessly clean, and parts are really nice!

Rooftop pool is the place to be

by TripAdvisor Member Biffa

As with other correspondents - not 5*, but a good 4*. Reception/lobby says 5*, but rest doesn't.
Spent 10 days there with partner and loved the roof top pool and terrace.
Agree with previous writers - probably best with pool side room.
Breakfast good, ate out other times. Chinese restaurant next door great but pricey.
Overall though - planning a return.

PS Try the massages!

Costa Adeje

by Veghel

Although situated along the shore, Costa Adeje is not a beach resort as there are no beaches and the rocky coast is totally inadequate for swimming.
Costa Adeje is basically a bunch of small and a few bigger (even high-rise!) hotels and apartment buildings along the curving main street. It has absolutely no charm. Like most places on the Canary Islands, a lot of bars are owned by people from the United Kingdom. That's probably enough information to know what other guests to expect.
There is however one positive exception, which is the Bahia Principe Hotel. It is situated just outside the built-up area of Costa Adeje. The center can be reached by foot in about 10 minutes. For more information on Bahia Principe, see my tips.

Snorkelling in South Tenerife

by loobyloo1958

I'm going to Costa Adeje for a week later this month. I love snorkelling off the beach. Are there any good places to do this in South Tenerife?

RE: Snorkelling in South Tenerife

by Lorro

Im sure you can do snorkeling off the beaches but there are not vast expanses of shallow water (I stayed on the north end).. The water is among the clearest in the world which makes it really beautiful. I went scuba diving when I was there and one of the dives we did was on the south end and we fed some sting rays which was really fun. I would ask at your hotel for the nearest dive center and they can give you some great tips on where to snorkel. Have Fun!
