For more facilities and more...

by debbie.b

For more facilities and more money try the Hotel Bouganville Playa.
It is a fantastic hotel with all amenities nearby.
It has a hot tub two pools and entertainment nightly.
For the younger traveller try the Oro Blanco Appartments.
They are available in single double or studio rooms.
All have a small basic kitchen and a bathroom and balcony.
Small but does the job.
The Bouganville Playa averages at about £400 per fortnight.
The Oro Blanco averages around £289 to £370 per fortnight. The Bouganville is very up market so you pay more the Oro Blanco on the other hand is less expensive but with no extra facilities.

If you are young and are going for basic board check out The Oro Blanco apartments very basic but somewhere to make a light meal and crash for the night.
If you want somewhere for you to get your meals try The Bouganville Playa Hotel all the comforts of home with a rooftop sun terrace thrown in for good measure.
If you have young children then the Oro Blanco is ideal with a pool and snack bar and a video rental service. Also available childrens clubs for daytime shoppers.
For a fortnight stay in the Oro Blanco in December with flights can cost as litle as £260 in sterling.
The Bouganville can be very expensive but you can get some great offers for around november and december for around £500 per person including flights. The Bouganville has outstanding views of Playa and of the island directly facing.
Oro Blanco has an excellent view of the beach and a magnificent sun rise and sunset.

Good Solid Hotel with Fantastic Food

by A TripAdvisor Member

We chose to stay at the Bouganville for our honeymoon after reading reviews on this site.

Service - Excellent service from the polite staff. We had a bottle of champagne waitng for us on arrival and a further bottle during our stay (it was my wife's birthday) The reception staff were friendly and helped us book local excursions.

Food - WOW!!! I didn't believe all the praise from previous reviews but I can honestly say I have never eaten so well.

Rooms - This was the only slight downside. The room reminded me of the 1970's. It definately needed a bit of TLC. At the end of the day, this was a small issue. I wouldn't let this put anyone off unless you plan to spend all your time sat in the room!!

Cleanliness - Everywhere was clean. Top marks.

Location - Superb. Fairly quiet but close to shops and nightlife.

Pool - Two good pools. Plenty of loungers.

In summary, I would not hesitate to stay at the Bouganville again.

Solid 4* Hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

Excellent holiday.

The Bouganville represents superb value for money with the food the highlight of the stay - first class with a great choice at both breakfast and dinner. Drink prices reasonable for a 4* hotel.

Rooms ok - generally decor as you would expect though furnishings are showing their age in places. No tea/coffee making facilites (we took our own). Mini fridge provided free of charge. Usual practice of charging inflated prices for the in room safe - surely it is not a luxury. TV choice a little restricted.

Staff polite and attentive.

Entertainmnet we found average. We tried it a few times and ended up going out across the road to the star Bar or Pheasant plucker.

Poolarea Ok - not one of your free form pools though totally adequate. Plenty of sunbeds though the practice of reserving sunbeds for use later in the day is very much alive. Gym a little bit of an afterthought - no air conditioning.

Would recommend this hotel if a 4* vaue for money hol' is what you are after.

Just got back on Friday after a week's holiday and it was not long enough! I'm already looking into returning next October during the school holidays again. I travelled on my own with an 8 year old. He had a great holiday too and at times he was almost the only person in the larger of the two swimming pools. He is such a fussy eater but there was even food aplenty for him - even if it was pizza, or other 'kids menu' food.

I was very impressed by the hotel and the entertainment was first class in the evening. I had not really expected there to be professional entertainers and was pleasantly suprised. The only fault I could pick was the absence of a no-smoking section in this venue and the air conditioning could be improved here.

The information gleaned from previous reviews on this site and on the Holidays Uncovered site was very useful indeed, so I would advise you to read all the reviews!

Our hotel room was big and the fridge was useful. We were allocated the side with the roadworks but were moved when I requested it. The only fault with the room was the shower over the bath which did not have a sliding rail so was quite awkward for children as the shower head was way too high.

As others have said you do not need to take towels with you as long as you don't mind paying a 10Euro deposit for each that you hire. It is fully refundable though so if you do not lose any towels you will get all of your deposit back. You can exchange the towels as often as you want.

The safe is digital and was a good size with 2 shelves. It cost 17Euros for the week but 5 of them were a refundable deposit.

The swimming pools were clean, the larger of them (which was very big) had half the pool at 1.05m deep and the remainder 1.50m deep. The children were generally in this pool as they were more able to stand on the bottom. The other pool was much deeper.

A good time was had by both of us.

Fantastic hotel 10/10

Went to this hotal in October. What a fantastic place. It was 1st class and the best hotel that I have ever visited in tenerife in the 8 times I have been there. The food was fantastic, great variety, fresh, tasted great. The rooms were really good and the day time entertainment was good to. The entertainment team were really friendly and funny. I would definitely go back to that hotel again. Had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, had good air conditioning, a fridge and a safety deposit box. The entertainment team were lovely people and made sure there was soemthing to do throughtout the day if you wanted to.

The hotel is based near a very nice shopping centre 2 mins walk and there were plenty of places local to go in the area of a night time if you wanted to venture out.

I would certainly go back to that hotel as I would be afraid that no other would match it and I woudl certainly recommend it to anyone thinking about going to Tenerife. - Lori

Loved this Hotel

We have just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel, it was very good, we were given a glass of wine on arrival (orange juice for the children), reception staff were very friendly, pool towels could be hired for a deposit of 10 euros each, which you do get back at the end when you hand the towels back and they could be changed as often as you wished, rooms were comfortable (pillows a bit hard!!), cleaned everyday although our maid came at around 9 in the morning (a bit early for us), air conditioning worked and there was a fridge (handy for cold drinks etc), there are not any tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, we bought a kettle out there and made our own in the morning,. Plenty of food in the restaurant very well run, staff very friendly good with the children too, entertainment was good in the day and at night, you join in if you want too if not they do not bother you. The pools and surrounding area were kept spotless, lots of sunbeds, although we did laugh at the sign which said no reserving beds as nearly every bed each morning had a towel on it, (i think the brits are keeping up with the germans on this one).
The only down sides were the roadworks outside, we were on the 2nd floor looking out towards the pools. The lifts were very slow at peak times, but you do keep fit using the stairs.
Overall we were very impressed at how well the hotel is run.

If you want a fantastic holiday -this is as good as it gets

Notwithstanding an arrival time of 10pm, we were greeted with a refreshing bucks fizz (& chilled orange juice for our 7 yr old) plus an exceptional check in procedure. We were independent travellers and not part of package tours which do appear to me majority of clients.

The room was adequate, the fridge most welcome + safety deposit box (net cost 12 euros). Recommend the hiring of towels (10 euro deposit each).

Food plentiful and excellent choices breakfast/dinner. recommend you head for far end of restaurant which tends to be quieter than tables nearer the entrance. Staff were extremely helpful in all aspects of our stay - nothing too much trouble and made our stay that much more enjoyable.

Swimming pools good sizes but can be a bit cramped on sun loungers. Many are reserved from around 8.30am.

Evening entertainment varied but at least visit at 9.30pm to see what is on- we were pleasantly surprised. On at least 2 different levels each night (floors start at -3 (pool, small shop and rear exit to beach) and go to to 'A' which is just after level 10! The only drawback we could find for this hotel were the time taken to wait for the lifts.

Loads of daytime activities and kids club (4-7) took place at twice daily.

Costa Adeje (turn left when facing sea) is more tacky whereas going right is pleasant walk to harbour and beyond. Bars and shopping centre only minutes away.

Overall a clean and comfortable hotel well worth 4 *.

it is as good as they say it is

I would like to commend the tripadvisor person below on his/her appraisal of the bourganville playa, and her photographic skills.
The wife is in two of the pictures produced.

It is an excellant hotel. the views are stunning and you dont have to pay extra for the privalage as some other less hotels do.

We've been going to the Reef in November for the last six years, we just keep moving along a bit every two years.

When we go back, we wont look any further than this hotel.
The thing I recall most is the practically non exsisting reserving of the sunbeds.
the hotel is in such a position that it gets the sun all day and ther's no need

absolutly brilliant
