We are just back from Barcelo Club El Castillo. The apartments are located directly on the beach. The facilities in this resort are excellent for families with babies or small children. We cannot praise this resort too highly.
I booked having read very good reveiws on this complex. I then got worried after reading some negative reveiws especially about the cockroaches as I can't stand them but on past experience I know they are native to the Canary Islands and there does tend to be a lot of them.
We were so pleased not to have one in our Bungalow which was a newer one with a sea view on the opposite side of the harbour then the beach. We had great fun feeding the chipmunks that live in the rocks there by hand. (They like nuts by the way) You expect to see Lizards but not Chipmunks.
The Place its self was lovely. Well set out with large swimming pools that backed onto the beach. There were plenty of places to eat. Main meal bewteen 5-8 Euro's.
The area's were all clean. Staff friendly. Entertainments team tried hard with the usually games and show's such as "CATS, GREASE, SISTER ACT ETC and a couple of Flamenco shows.
The Beach is in a lovely sandy horse shoe bay which is very calm and safe for children.
The resort itself has everything you need. Shops, bars and restaraunts. Although not very many people there when we went in November, but pleasant and safe for 3 women having a get away from it all break.
I would recommend this complex to anyone and I am very fussy about where I stay. This was excellent value for money.

We have just returned from 11 days at the this hotel. Our party was made up of 2 adults and 2 children, aged 7 and 2.
The accommodation is OK but not more than that. We did have a refurbished room but this could have been cleaner. We only saw a few cockroaches and only when dead but the cleaner never removed them. We only had our towels changed twice in 11 days and other than that we had to change them ourselves at reception.
The other disappointment was that at the moment the main pool (the one featured in all the brochures) is closed for refurbishment and while there are two other pools you can use they are no where near as nice as the main one. We ended up using the pool at the Barcelo Furteventura Hotel which is a 10 mintue walk away - but is worth the effort.
The location is good and only 1 minute from the beach, and a nice walk along the promenade to the shopping centre. There are several Mini Golf Courses in resort which are very well cared for and good fun. The resort is expanding rapidly and there is a lot of building work going on.
We stayed on a half board basis and the food was typical of a buffet style restaurant. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
We would return to the resort again but next time I would stay at the Hotel.
