More about BlueBay Palace

just as nice on the second visit

by TripAdvisor Member tazKent

My husband and I visited the Atlantis Palace in July 2004 and enjoyed it so much that we decided to visit again in October 2005 with both sets of parents. Our parents were equally impressed and we had a great holiday.
The entrance to the hotel is very welcoming and the rooms are clean and well equipped. The food is excellent and with such a choice each day we never got bored with what was on offer.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and we all felt very welcome. The pool area with all its greenery is very relaxing and the sand dunes, which can be reached within five minutes on the courtesy bus, were just as fantastic as we remembered.

The weather was kind to us and was more bearable than when we visited in July!

All in all we had a great time and hopefully will be returning in the near future. My parents have already looked into going again in February.

We thoroughly recommend the Atlantis Palace. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic !!!

I read the reviews before booking a holiday to the Atlantis Palace in Correlejo, Fuerteventura. All I can say that I totally agree with all I read. This hotel is 5* not 4*. The service, faciltites, location and quality are second to none. It is ideally located 5 mins from a beautiful beach, 5 mins from the supermarket, banks and main shopping / entertainment strip, yet wonderfully peaceful and out of the way. It was an ideal holiday for a young family, especially the mini disco for children in the lounge at 8pm every night. The food was excellent and very varied and the hotel itself is not very expensive as far as hotels go. All in all this was a fantastic breathtaking place to stay. If you have just booked or are about to go you are in for a fantastic holiday.

Read the reviews, booked it, loved it!

My wife and I have previously stayed in Rui hotels, but we opted for the Atlantis Palace because of its’ #1 ranking by Trip Advisor members. We were not disappointed!
We stayed eleven nights on half-board basis in July 2005, and booked the flights and hotel independently, so we had to find our own way to and from the airport, but more of that later.

Atlantis Palace is located on a side street in a pleasant neighbourhood, off the main thoroughfare and about 3 minutes walk to a small beach. There is also a “town” beach about 15 mins away near the port, but the sand dunes national park is a 25 minute drive on the hotel shuttle bus. Not a lot to see and do in Corralejo other than the gift shops, bars and an abundance of Chinese restaurants, presumably for the benefit of self-catering holidaymakers. Plenty of supermarkets if you need supplies for your room!

Hotel has very quick check-in with very spacious atrium lobby and bar area. Restaurant is beneath the lobby, large but never crowded, even at peak times. Variety of food is by far the best we’ve experienced on holiday - not the typical “holiday fodder” we’ve had elsewhere in the Med and the Caribbean. Loads of local specialties including salads, seafood’s and meats, with different English roasts served nightly from the carvery, plus a superb selection of desserts and cheeses. Plenty of choice of simple food for the kids if they’re not into experimenting. Staff are polite and efficient, but they didn’t go overboard to be overly friendly. Nightly cabaret good, but it wouldn’t appeal to teenagers!

Bedrooms are spacious with large, well equipped bathroom having two hand basins and bidet. Maid service excellent without being intrusive! Tip: Remember when you close the patio window to align the door pins with the sensors on the wall, or the A/C won’t work! Hotel failed to tell us this!

Large pool for adults plus a kid’s pool, roped-off until 9am, but the queue for loungers forms earlier. If you haven’t staked your claim to a decent spot by 9.30, then resign yourself to spending the day in the shadow of the palm trees. Pool cold but refreshing, and nice touch is the provision of fresh towels daily. Never saw anyone using the gym!

We pre-booked one-way car hire for the minimum three day period (drop-off being different from pick-up point), both at the start and end of the holiday, which enabled us to tour the island. Bentacuria and Jandia are worth seeing, but some mountain roads are a bit hairy and local driver’s skills and attitude leaves a lot to be desired! Remember, car insurance becomes void if you go off asphalted roads and keep your eye on your personal belongings outside the hotel! Well worth taking the one day excursion to Lanzarote to see the volcano and the more rugged scenery over there!

One negative aspect. Check-out time at hotel is 12.00hrs and if hotel is full, then there isn’t the option to pay to retain your room. If hotel is able to offer you an extension, then it’s quite expensive.

Summary: Superb hotel - if you want to laze around the pool, go to the beach or surf and enjoy great meals, but not enough attractions on the island to keep the more adventurous occupied!

Good quality, but not the WOW factor expected

by TripAdvisor Member PaulF_7

Just arrived back from an ever so slightly disappointing two week vacation at the Atlantis Palace. Don't get me wrong, whilst not architecturally stunning like some hotels we've been in, the build quality of the hotel and its cleanliness are very good. The service levels are very high and waiting staff very friendly, perhaps more so than other hotels.

Food was of good quality and varied, although probably the standard fayre served up at comparable hotels.

We stayed in a junior suite, which again was a good size and very comfortable. Even the standard rooms are of a good size also and larger than most other hotels we've been in (we looked in the room our friends had). No complaints at all in this respect. Down town Corralejo is quite busy and there are more restaurants than you can shake a stick at, plus the usual touristy places as well as some quite upmarket shops.

The sand dunes are a short bus/coach trip further down the coast, never went, but people said they were very nice with loungers/parasols etc, plus other facilities.

Having given the hotel a lot of praise, the downside mainly relates to the pool area. The hotel seems to be squashed in amongst many other buildings around it, which may have caused restrictions in the amount of room that they had available to build on initially. Consequently, whilst the hotel itself is spacious, the pool area doesn't seem to be large enough for the number of guests staying there.

The pool area is also chained off until 09:00am, so there's a bit of a texas scramble to get a bed, if you're not on parade before 09:30am. Its well designed, with three pools and lots of green foliage, but the overall area is just not big enough!

In addition, because the pool area is surrounded by the hotel on three sides and a restaurant on the fourth, sound from screaming kids can't escape. If you like a siesta if the afternoon and your room is poolside, then things can get very noisy. We put the air con on just to drown out the noise. Almost worked!

There's not much for the small people to do at the hotel outside of pool hours, so they seemed quite intent on just running amok with no parent control.

Eats and drinks can only be obtained from the restaurant by the pool during the day, with the only other bar near reception, being closed until the evening. Bit of pain if you want to get away from the noise to have a quiet drink during the day, as some might!

Have been lucky enough to stay in many 4 star plus hotels and whilst this one is very nice, it didn't give us the WOW factor we were expecting from reading all previous reviews. But don't let us put you off, try it for yourself.

4 stars only, can't give it five I'm afraid.

Winter Sun

My wife and son (aged 2) stayed for 14 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the facilities, food and service.

We upgraded to a suite on arrival and the staff could not have been better.

David the "butler" greeted everyone and in traditional Spanish attire willingly took our cases to the room whilst entertaining our son by allowing him to ride on the trolley !!

The suite was excellent as were the chambermaids who left chocolates on the pillows each night after turning the beds back for the evening.

The food was superb with a vast menu all well presented.

The hotel is next to a good beach that was safe for children and within a three minute walk of numerous shops and restaurants.

We have already booked to go again this year

Simply the best

Excellent Family Holiday

by A TripAdvisor Member

We have just returned after taking our 6 month old baby on holiday for the first time. The accommodation was excellent as was the food. The location was central to the resort but far enough away from any noise. The pool area was fantastic with more than enough beds, umbrellas etc for everyone. The public areas were lovely, the staff very helpful and overall the hotel was the perfect place to take our baby on holiday for the first time especially as there were ramps and lifts everywhere for the buggy. The air conditioning in the room was also very effective. The courtesy bus which runs to the beautiful sand dunes was an excellent service. What more can be said, no complaints and highly recommended!

Great hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

Recently returned from a 7 night stay. Great hotel, kept spotlessly clean. Stayed in a family room which was large with twin sofa bed for the kids. Hotel itself is a large u-shaped building with the pools and terrace set in the centre. Grounds and pools were well maintained and I particularly liked the variety of tropical plants and trees on display. The breakfast buffet was good but the evening buffet was fantastic. Plenty of choice, all tastes well catered for, all well presented in a very nice dining room. Reception staff were polite and helpfull and the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly (especially Maria who was very good with the kids). Surrounding area is okay, not a great deal to see apart from the usual tourist shops and bars but alright for a half hours walk after the evening meal. Our only regret is that we only went for one week.

Beautiful Hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I stayed for 1 week from the 19 October. The Hotel is beautiful and food, staff, rooms etc are excellent. The pool area and pool snack bar area are both spacious with fresh pool towels available daily. The restaurant again is large and has a great variety of food for breakfast and dinner, even for vegetarians. Bedrooms are spacious and well equipped, the daily maid service is excellent. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from both the town beach, the shops and harbour area.

Fab Hotel

We stayed here in April 05. Totally agree with the other reviews. Fantastic hotel, spotlessly clean & a great variety of food for all. Our bedroom was very spacious. The interior decoration, en-suite & attention to detail was beautiful (towels folded in the shape of swans, wine & glasses laid out for our arrival & separate swimming towels provided daily.

We have stayed in some beautiful hotels but this has to be our favourite. The hotel has a lively bar with entertainment nightly, or the quieter piano/cocktail bar for chilling out. We tended to visit the latter after visiting the resorts out-door bars & beach bars with great live entertainment in the old town (a short walk away).

I can't say we experienced the problems mentioned regarding screaming kids or overcrowding of pools (but we booked in April out-with school holidays. Perhaps it's worth thinking about if anti-kiddies enjoying their hols ;-) Travelling as a couple with no kids, we saw very few kids at the hotel during our fortnight there. Those that we did see were pre-school and very well behaved.

We used the gym daily (had to due to the food & alcohol consumed!). Gym equipment was basic but adequate. The hotel hires out bikes. Well worth doing to see the resort due to the safe cycle pavements surrounding the resort & all the way out to the sand dunes.

The only downside to our hol? The first few days were quite chilly (staff said it was rare & they'd quite unpredicatable weather during the winter season). Same all over. Thankfully it changed & the 2nd week was scorching.

We are returning October 06 and can't wait! Highly recommended!
